16 Nov 16. Black Box to upgrade USMC’s base infrastructure and unified communications. Technology solutions provider Black Box has received an award to upgrade the US Marine Corps’ (USMC) existing telecommunication network architecture and systems to a high-availability Unified Communications solution at MCB Camp Lejeune, North Carolina, US. The contract is a part of USMC’s BTI Camp Lejeune Project, and has been awarded by the USMC Systems Command Base Telecommunications Infrastructure (BTI) Program Office. The project intends to improve command and control, communications, computing, and intelligence (C4I) capability sets across all the Marine Corps bases. L-3 Communications Corp., Londonderry, New Hampshire, is being awarded a $49,500,000 firm-fixed-price, indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract with a five-year ordering period for binocular night vision devices (BNVD). This procurement is for a follow-on contract for the next generation BNVD goggles with white phosphor tubes that focus on weight, size, and power reductions. The BNVD will allow Special Operations Forces to operate with an enhanced visual acuity in low light conditions thereby increasing both their lethality and survivability while achieving their mission objectives. Work will be performed in Londonderry, New Hampshire, and is expected to be completed by November 2021. Fiscal 2017 defense procurement funds in the amount of $305,910 will be obligated at the time of contract award and funds will not expire at the end of the current fiscal year. Lockheed Martin Corp., Syracuse, New York, was awarded a $27,779,695 cost-plus-fixed-fee contract for quick reaction capability to add counter-unmanned aerial system to the AN/TPQ-53 radar system. Bids were solicited via the Internet with four received. Work will be performed in Syracuse, New York, with an estimated completion date of Nov. 15, 2018. 10 Nov 16. Polaris Defense, a division of Polaris Industries Inc. (NYSE: PII), has received an order from the United States Marine Corps to deliver 144 four-seat diesel MRZR™ vehicles as part of the utility task vehicle (UTV) program, which will provide MRZR-D4s to each of the Marine Corps’ active-component infantry regiments. The contract also includes spare parts blocks in support of the vehicles. This vehicle procurement follows successful testing and integration exercises, such as the recent RIMPAC 2016 where the Marine Corps experimented with new technologies, tactics and operational concepts during force-on-force training.The UTV program is designed to provide company-level operations with logistics support, filling a critical capability gap at the tactical level. The MRZR-D4 delivers a proven solution that is cost-effective, reliable, easily maintained, and certified for internal transport in MV-22 and CH-53 aircraft.
