12 Apr 16. Briggs Equipment has secured a £2.5m deal with one of the UK’s prime defence and infrastructure contractors. The five-year contract has been awarded to Briggs DLS, the Defence Logistic Support division of Briggs Equipment, by Landmarc Support Services Limited. Since 2003 Landmarc has enjoyed a highly successful partnership with the Ministry of Defence (MOD), delivering sustainable, cost-effective training and infrastructure solutions for the Armed Services. These include explosives handling, built and rural estate management, design, operation and management of ranges and training areas and specialist environmental and conservation services. The new contract with Briggs DLS has come about after Landmarc was awarded a £322m government contract to provide services that support the vital training needed to prepare Britain’s Armed Forces for operational success. Within the scope of the contract Briggs DLS will be responsible for 1,000 machines located across 156 sites in the UK. The fleet includes ground care equipment, generators and auxiliary power units, tractors, road-going and agricultural trailers, construction equipment, excavators, road rollers fuel bowsers and small power tools.
13 Apr 16. France – GMLRS Unitary Rocket Pods and Related Support. The State Department has made a determination approving a possible Foreign Military Sale to France for Guided Multiple Launch Rocket System (GMLRS) Unitary Rocket Pods and related support. The estimated cost is $90m. The Defense Security Cooperation Agency delivered the required certification notifying Congress of this possible sale today.
The Government of France has requested a possible sale of twenty-one (21) GMLRS Unitary Rocket Pods. Also included are a GMLRS Quality Assurance Team (QAT), GMLRS publications, live fire data, software updates, and technical assistance. The total estimated value of MDE is $60m. Raytheon/Lockheed Martin Javelin JV, Tucson, Arizona, was awarded an $181,307,878 firm-fixed-price, multi-year, foreign military sales contract (Estonia, Czech Republic) for GEU hybrid regulators. Bids were solicited via the Internet with one received. Work will be performed in Tucson, Arizona, with an estimated completion date of Aug. 31, 2018. Fiscal 2016 other procurement funds in the amount of $181,307,878 were obligated at the time of the award. Army Contracting Command, Redstone Arsenal, Alabama, is the contracting activity (W31P4Q-13-C-0129).

11 Apr 16. Saab awards power modules contract to British manufacturer. Saab has awarded British electronics manufacturer e2v a contract to provide power modules for military electronics.
The Military Power Modules (MPM) are “compact, lightweight transmitters for use in airborne military applications,” according to an e2v news release. “Each MPM system is comprised of a helix travelling-wave tube, an electronic power conditioner and a solid state amplifier in a single package.”
The MPMs can deliver medium output power up to Ku-band, and can operate in both pulsed and continuous-wave mode. (Source: Defense News Early Bird/C4ISR & Networks)

12 Apr 16. Ultra Electronics Holdings plc has been awarded a contract by Raytheon Integrated Defense Systems for the supply of its RiQ Ruggedized Networking Switch (RIQ) for integration into the Patriot air and missile defense system. The contract, which includes the supply of spares, is valued at $9.3m. The award has been made to Ultra Electronics-DNE Technologies, a part of Ultra-Electronics EMS which is part of the Maritime and Land division.
