17 Feb 15. ARMTRAC awarded contract by CEFA. Following the issue of a tender by the French Ministry of Defence in 2012 for a mechanical Zone De-pollution System (SDZ) to clear mined areas remotely, a 20m Euro contract was finally awarded to CEFA (French Prime Contractor) in December 2014 with ARMTRAC Ltd (a UK Small/Medium Enterprise (SME) and ECA (a French SME) providing the key manufacturing components to meet the operational requirements.

18 Feb 15. Bruker receives Dutch Contract. The Bruker Detection division has been awarded a contract for the supply of three fully equipped R/C reconnaissance vehicles by the Dutch Defence Materiel Organisation
(DMO). Bruker Detection won the contract, scheduled for delivery over a two and a half year period, following an international tender in which several leading suppliers competed.

18 Feb 15. Jankel, the UK’s leading provider of protection solutions, is delighted to announce that it is one of the first suppliers to sign a multi-million pound contract with Lockheed Martin UK (LMUK) for the production phase of the Scout SV Turret Programme. Jankel has been working with Lockheed Martin UK – who are designing, developing, manufacturing and testing the turrets at its Ampthill site in Bedfordshire – to provide support and concepts in the design and development of an extremely high specification turret seat. These seats will be integrated onto the platform destined for service with the UK MoD as part of the Army 2020 fleet. Following a successful Critical Design Review (CDR), Jankel has been awarded the production contract for its BLASTech turret seat. These seats will be built by Jankel over a seven year period and will be utilising its wider UK SME supply chain.

17 Feb 15. MilDef Systems has won a competitive tender with FMV Sweden to provide cargo and logistic unit monitoring and tracking capability. The winning solution consists of blue force tracking specialist Track24 Defence’s SCC TITAN system, supplemented with sensors from MilDef AB. It will provide FMV Sweden with the ability to monitor and track units globally, regardless of local communications infrastructure access. The SCC TITAN system can also simultaneously handle personnel and vehicle monitoring (friendly force tracking) and supports two way AES256 encrypted messaging and true situational awareness of all assets. The solution will be delivered during Q1 2015.

18 Feb 15. Rheinmetall supplies Bundeswehr with newly qualified 40mm airburst ammunition technology. The German Bundeswehr has awarded Rheinmetall a multimillion-euro contract to supply it with several thousand cartridges of 40mm x 53 airburst ammunition, together with accessories. This is the first time that the German armed forces have procured this state-of-the-art ammunition technology, which Rheinmetall developed and continues to enhance. The Group’s 40mm x 53 Airburst Munition (ABM) has now been fully qualified for use by the Bundeswehr and Dutch armed forces. Officially dubbed the DM131, the pilot lot ordered by the German procurement authorities is already being delivered. The time of detonation of each airburst round is electronically programmable. In line with the Rheinmetall approach, this takes place via an infrared signal from the fire control/aiming unit once the projectile has left the barrel. The round explodes at an exactly calculated distance above its target, even if it is located behind cover. As a result, this innovative ammunition substantially enhances the combat effectiveness of the Bundeswehr’s battle-proven 40mm automatic grenade launcher. With the right
