15 Oct 14. Serco has been awarded a further 12 month extension to its existing Contemporary Operating Environment Force (COEFOR) contract with the UK Ministry of Defence (MOD) to provide training and support to the British Army prior to deployment on operations around the world. The new extension will start in December 2014 and is valued at £8m.
The original two-year contract, started in April 2012 and this option for a fourth year, awarded by the British Army’s Headquarters, will see Serco continue to deliver the service to the British Army, the Royal Navy and the Royal Air Force until December 2015. Under the COEFOR contract, Serco delivers critical pre-deployment training to prepare UK military forces for worldwide deployed operations. All troops deployed to Afghanistan over the past two years have benefitted from this world-class realistic training. The support includes recreating realistic training scenarios, providing language and cultural understanding skills and simulated casualty training. Serco delivers the programme in partnership with a number of small and medium sized enterprises to supply some of the specialised training services such as cultural and language skills, demonstration personnel and casualty simulation.
