25 Aug 14. Finnish Armed Forces Broadens Outsourcing Deal With Millog. Finland’s Armed Forces Command (AFC) has broadened its outsourcing arrangement with Millog Oy, the Finnish private sector company jointly owned by defense groups Patria and Insta. Under a new agreement, Millog will deliver engineering and maintenance services to both the Army and Navy, and also supply material products, such as target acquisition sensors, to the Finnish Armed Forces (FAF). The original outsourcing contract, signed between the AFC and Millog in 2008, focused on the provision of life-cycle support and repair services for Army material related to non-armored and armored vehicles; and to electronic, missile, and weapons systems and equipment. The eight-year agreement carried a total value of $680m, averaging $85m in revenue per year for Millog over the full contract period. (Source: Defense News)

27 Aug 14. Frazer-Nash has won the contract to provide 4 years Independent Environmental and Safety Audit Support to the UK Military Flying Training System (UKMFTS) Project Team. This competitively won contract will see the company deliver safety and environmental audit services across the portfolio of aircraft covered by the UKMFTS Project Team including: Hawk; Tucano; King Air; Avenger and Gliders. Frazer-Nash will add value by providing senior stakeholders with a fully independent view of the Project Team’s safety and environmental arrangements, including how the Team complies with both the spirit and letter of safety, environmental and airworthiness regulations. In addition, drawing on the considerable experience within Frazer-Nash, the company will provide impartial advice to help resolve issues in regulatory compliance.

27 Aug 14. Navistar Defense, LLC, Lisle, Illinois, (W56HZV-14-C-0102) was awarded a $38,423,006 contract for vehicle reset, which will include replacement of mandatory parts and labor for maintenance repairs to bring the vehicles to a condition code-A standard. The upgrades consist of bringing the vehicles to a common configuration of low rate initial production as outlined as incoming configuration of M1235 Maxx Pro Dash, M1235 A1 Maxx Pro Dash with Independent Suspension System, M1235 A2 Maxx Pro dash Ambulance will be converted to a final configuration of M1235A4. Work will be performed in West Point, Mississippi, with an estimated completion date of June 30, 2016. Bids were solicited with one received. Fiscal 2014 operations and maintenance (Army) funds in the amount of $25,832,822 and fiscal 2014 procurement funds in the amount of $12,590,184 are being obligated at the time of the award. Army Contracting Command, Warren, Michigan, is the contracting activity.

27 Aug 14. Saab has signed a new framework contract with the USSOCOM for the company’s Carl-Gustaf man-portable weapon system (in the US named MAAWS; Multi-role, Anti-armor Anti-Personnel Weapon System). The contract is a follow on agreement to a previous 5 year contract for the 84mm recoilless rifle system. In connection with award of the contract, USSOCOM issued an initial order with a value of MSEK 99 (approx. $14.3m). The framework contract enables the USSOCOM to place orders for weapons and ammunition over a 5 year contract period up to a total value of BSEK 1.3 (approx. $187m).
