03 Jul 14. Babcock to deliver HF comms system for Norway. Babcock has been awarded a contract by the Norwegian Defence Logistics Organisation (NDLO) to provide an Automated Control and Management System (ACMS) to drive the secure delivery of data and voice communications between Norwegian Joint Headquarters (NJHQ) and its armed forces. The new, single, ACMS will replace the current control systems and will interact with 25 sites across Norway. The system will comprise a number of operator workstations at which messages will be co-ordinated and sent via the high frequency (HF) network, as well as the hardware required to manage, encrypt, broadcast and receive all transmissions securely.

02 Jul 14. UK MOD Selects Marshall for Deployable Infrastructure Support. Support for a range of containerised deployable systems for the UK Ministry of Defence is to be provided by Marshall Aerospace and Defence Group, with G3 Systems as its partner, following the award of an enabling contract. Named ‘Project Amphora’, this framework contract will last up to seven years and will enable numerous and varied equipments to continue to operate successfully as Force 2020 develops. At the heart of Project Amphora is a contractor logistic support (CLS) service which will ensure that the deployable shelter systems are fully supported to demanding operational levels.

30 Jun 14. Poland orders new Rosomak 8×8 variant. Polish Rosomak (Patria AMV) 8×8 WRT engineering reconnaissance variant prototype. Poland has ordered 34 WRT engineering reconnaissance variants of its Rosomak (Patria AMV) 8×8 armoured fighting vehicle. A contract for the purchase was awarded to WZM Siemianowice Slaskie by the Polish Armament Inspectorate, worth a total of PLN233.5m (USD77m). The contract is divided into two parts. The first covers the development of a second Rosomak-WRT prototype which will be used for qualification trials. The second part covers the manufacturing of 33 production-standard engineering reconnaissance vehicles. The Rosomak-WRT is equipped with an HIAB crane with 1 tonne lift capability, diagnostic and maintenance tools, pneumatic ramp, two generators (one vehicle-based and one portable), a tent, and portable light sources provides the night repair work capability. The vehicles will be manufactured by WZM Siemianowice Slaskie and WZM Poznan, the latter being the owner of the intellectual property rights to the vehicle. (Source: IHS Jane’s)

02 Jul 14. UK requests Tomahawk Block IV land-attack missiles from US. The US Defense Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA) has notified Congress of a potential foreign military sale (FMS) of Tomahawk Block IV torpedo launched land-attack missiles to the UK. Under the estimated $140m FMS programme, the UK has requested up to 65 missiles, in addition to containers, engineering support, test equipment and operational flight test support, as well as associated equipment, parts, training and logistical support. 02 Jul 14. Saab received an order from the Swedish Defence Materiel Administration (FMV) regarding design plans for a New Lightweight Torpedo (NLT). The order refers to the period 2014-2015 and amounts to the value of MSEK 43. The order is part of the Letter of Intent regarding the Swedish armed forces’ underwater capability which was announced on June 9, 2014. This is the first step in developing a new lightweight torpedo. Final delivery of this order will be during 2015.
