20 Aug 13. Swiss military orders Sawfly eyewear system from Revision. Revision Military has been awarded a contract to supply its Sawfly military eyewear system to the Swiss Armed Forces. Under the contract, the company will deliver a total of 290,000 Sawfly military eyewear kits along with additional accessories, including 95,000 Rx carrier and connector system, over the next five years. Selected after comprehensive user trials and addressing stringent performance requirements, Sawfly is scheduled to become the standard issue eyewear for all Swiss troops, starting in January 2014. 19 Aug 13. ArmorSource to supply new lightweight combat helmets to US military. ArmorSource has received a contract for production and delivery of its lightweight, advanced combat helmets (LW ACHs) to the US armed forces. Awarded by the US Defense Logistics Agency Aviation (DLA Aviation), the $92,681,250 fixed price indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity (IDIQ) contract represents a significant step forward in the army’s efforts to lighten the soldier’s logistics burden. The helmets are scheduled to be used by all US military services, including the army, navy, air force, marine corps, and the DLA. Designated as AS-505, the LW ACH is designed to lessen the extreme weight burden carried by soldiers on their head and neck, while simultaneously enhancing their protection in the battlefield. Brandywine Communications has been awarded a contract to continue supply of time and frequency components for the next generation satellite ground stations being developed for the US Army.
