13 Aug 13. UTC Aerospace Systems has received a contract to supply Cloud Cap Technology TASE400 stabilized camera payloads for maritime operations on Saab’s “Skeldar” unmanned aerial system (UAS). UTC Aerospace Systems is a unit of United Technologies Corp. (UTX). Units supplied by the company’s operations in Hood River, Ore. will be integrated by Cloud Cap Technology’s European support partner, Magline Composite Sistemas, beginning later this summer. The complete system is scheduled to be deployed with the end customer by the end of this year. (Source: Yahoo!/PRNewswire)

09 Aug 13. The US DoD has awarded a $6.7m sole source contract to Avon Protection for the development of a modified M53 Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear (CBRN) Protective Face Mask System and associated components. The Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) will provide respiratory protection to all US aircrew on the DOD’s fleet of Fixed Wing non-fast jet platforms. There is potential for follow on production contract awards of up to $74m. The Modified M53 CBRN Mask system is required to provide continuous head-eye-respiratory protection against CBRN and certain Toxic Industrial Chemicals and Materials (TICs/TIMs), and emerging CBRN threats.

13 Aug 13. Kaman Corporation’s Aerospace segment has entered into a new contract with the U.S. Air Force (USAF) for the sale of Joint Programmable Fuzes (JPF). The new base contract, also referred to as Option 10, has an estimated value of $70m. The agreement also contains two follow-on options (options 11 and 12) that, if exercised, would raise the total value and extend the contract through mid-2017. Deliveries under Option 10 are anticipated to begin in the second half of 2014. (Source: ASD Network)

12 Aug 13. The U.S. Navy recently awarded KBR a contract under the Navy’s Global Contingency Construction Multiple Award Contract. This contract, awarded to KBR and three other firms, is valued at up to $800m over five years and provides immediate response for civilian construction contract capability in the event of natural disasters, humanitarian assistance, conflict or projects with similar characteristics. Work under this contract could include airfield runway construction and/or repair, pier and waterfront construction and repair, electrical power plants and distribution systems, water treatment plants, bridges, warehouse facilities, medical clinics, fencing, and similar facilities.

14 Aug 13. Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace AS, Kongsberg, Norway was awarded a firm-fixed-price, option-eligible, non-multi-year, contract award modification of $14,786,467 with a cumulative maximum value of $51,094,647 for the M153 Common Remotely Operated Weapon Station system and system spares. This is an award contract modification to exercise options CLIN. Performance location Johnstown, Pa., and funding will be thru Fiscal 2013. Bidding was solicited via Web, with 2 bids received. The U.S. Army Contracting Command, Picatinny Arsenal, Picatinny, N.J., is the contracting activity (W15QKN-12-C-0103).

12 Aug 13. Lockheed Martin received a $308m contract modification from the U.S. Army Aviation and Missile Command for hardware and services associated with the combat-proven PATRIOT Advanced Capability-3 (PAC-3) Missile Segment program. In addition to Fiscal Year 2013 missile and command launch system production for the U.S. Army, the contract marks the first Foreign Military Sale of the PAC-3 Missile to Kuwait. Kuwait is the sixth international customer for the PAC-3 Missile. The contract includes production of 244 hit-to-kill PAC-3 Missiles, 72 launcher modification kits and associated tooling, as well as program management. This is the 14th production buy of the PAC-3 Missile Segment by the U.S. government.
