24 May 13. The Royal Netherlands Air Force (RNLAF) has contracted Raytheon to upgrade four additional Airport Surveillance Radar sites following the successful implementation of the first Wind Farm Mitigation upgrade at RNLAF’s Woensdrecht Air Base. The upgrade includes technology enhancements, including WiMax interference filtering (4G filtration), and should be completed within the next 12-15 months.

28 May 13. A multi-million pound contract to maintain the eyes and ears of the Royal Navy’s ships and submarines will sustain 530 defence jobs across the UK. The £600m Sensor Support Optimisation Project will provide a decade of maintenance and repair for 17 different systems across the Royal Navy fleet including the Astute, Trafalgar and Vanguard class of submarines as well as the Type 45 warships, Type 23 frigates and the Hunt and Sandown class minehunting ships. The contract will secure 230 Thales jobs at sites in Glasgow, Manchester, Somerset and Crawley in West Sussex. A further 300 jobs will be secured through the UK supply chain. Under this new contractual arrangement, the MoD will make an estimated saving of around £140m over the ten year period.

BAE Systems Land and Armaments L.P., Sterling Heights, Mich., was awarded a cost-plus-incentive-fee contract with a maximum value of $234,330,410 for the engineering design, logistics and test and evaluation services in support of the Bradley Engineering Change Proposal Effort. Work will be performed in York, Pa.; Sterling Heights, Mich.; Santa Clara, Calif.; and Akin, S.C.; with an estimated completion date of Sept. 29, 2017. Fiscal 2011 research, development, testing and evaluation funds in the amount of $55,899,804 were obligated at time of award. The bid was solicited through the Internet, with one bid received. 30 May 13. General Dynamics and Technical Products Inc., Williston, Vt., (W15QKN-13-D-0055); and Capco Inc., Grand Junction, Colo., (W15QKN-13-D-0054); were awarded a firm-fixed-price, multiple-award contract with a maximum value of $27,271,538 for the procurement of M2A1 machine gun gages and special tools. Performance location and type of appropriation will be determined with each order. The bid solicited through the Internet, with five bids received. The Army Contracting Command, Picatinny Arsenal, N.J., is the contracting activity.
29 May 13. Northrop Grumman Corporation has been awarded a task order by the U.S. General Services Administration (GSA) to provide its enhanced Combat Electromagnetic Environment Simulator (CEESIM) system to the Warner Robins Air Logistics Center (WR-ALC). This is a single award under the Alliant indefinite delivery, indefinite quantity contract. The Northrop Grumman CEESIM is an advanced technology simulator that generates complex dynamic electromagnetic environments to simulate true-to-war conditions. The new system includes an updated user interface that makes programming of complex emitters more intuitive while allowing the operator to customize the interface to suit specific needs. It also includes latest-generation digital hardware that is optimized to produce greater pulse density for advanced threats.
30 May 13. Oshkosh Corp., Oshkosh, Wis., is being awarded an estimated $192,852,826 firm-fixed-price, indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract for the procurement of P-19R Aircraft Rescue Fire Fighting vehicles, support and sustainment, to replace the current fleet of truck, firefighting, aircraft crash and structure fire, A/S32 P-19A for the Marine Corps. Work will be performed in Oshkosh, Wis., and work is expected to be completed by May 29, 2018.
