03 Jan 13. Belmont Instrument Corporation announced this week it received its first order from the Polish military for The Belmont® Rapid Infuser. The Polish military is joining the United States, British, Dutch, Swedish and Korean military medical teams that are already using the company’s life saving device. The Rapid Infuser is the preferred tool for saving lives on the battlefield and recognized as the standard of care for the treatment of massive blood loss in hospitals throughout the world. 24 Dec 12. Saab has been selected to equip Marine AlutechOyAB’s Watercat™ M18 AMC amphibious assault craft with the Trackfire Remote Weapon Station (RWS). The Watercat™ M18 AMC’s will be delivered to the Finnish Navy in the time period 2014 to 2016. The contract covers the delivery, support and training for 12 Trackfire RWS with an option for additional systems.

02 Jan 13. Turkey seeks AIM-9X-2 Sidewinder missiles from US. The US Defense Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA) has notified Congress of a potential foreign military sale (FMS) of AIM-9X-2 Sidewinder missiles and
related equipment to the Government of Turkey. Under the estimated $140m FMS, Turkey has requested the delivery of a total of 117 AIM-9X-2 Sidewinder Block II all-up-round missiles, six AIM-9X-2 Block II tactical guidance units, six dummy air training missiles and 130 LAU-129 launchers. The deal will also include containers, missile support and test equipment, provisioning, spare and repair parts, personnel training and training equipment, as well as other associated logistical support services. 04 Jan 13. US Army contracts Block MEMS for buried IED detection. Block MEMS has received a multi-million dollar contract from the US Army’s Joint Improvised Device Defeat Organization (JIEDDO) to help soldiers detect buried explosives in the battlefield. Managed by the army’s Night-Vision and Electronics Sensors Directorate (NVESD) and Sentel, the contract covers delivery of the company’s LaserScan spectrometer that enables detection of recently dug-up soil, a potential indicator of improvised explosive devices (IEDs), from a standoff distance. Block executive chairman Daniel Cavicchio said the latest award brought the value of total contracts awarded by various Department of Defense (DoD) branches for the company’s detection products to more than $7.8m. 02 Jan 13. Cubic Global Tracking Solutions, the asset management and visibility solutions provider of Cubic Corporation, has been awarded three U.S. Army and GSA Schedule orders totaling approximately $4.8m to expand its wireless mesh asset tracking technology to two U.S. bases in Afghanistan. Cubic will deploy thousands of Mesh Asset Tags (MATs) and its Web-based Device Management Center (DMC) asset visibility system to bases near Kandahar and Bagram, where the technology will be used to track and process equipment being redeployed or returned home in the drawdown of troops from Afghanistan.

26 Dec 12. Cyalume Technologies Inc., West Springfield, Mass.*, was issued a modification exercising the second option year on contract (SPM8E7-10-D-0001) modification number P00004. The modification is a fixed-price contract with economic price adjustment with a maximum $33,042,682 for support of supply of various chemical light-sticks. Location of performance is West Springfield, Mass., and the performance completion date is Jan. 21, 2013. Using military services are Army, Navy, Air Force, and Marine Corps. There was one response to a FedBizOpps solicitation. Type of appropriation is fiscal 2012 Defense Capital Revolving Fund.
