03 Dec 12. Inmedius®, a Boeing Company announced that the S1000D Publishing Suite™ has been selected by Otokar Military Vehicles to support its flagship products in the Turkish defense sector. The Inmedius solution was chosen after extensive market study and analysis, and will be provided to Otokar in the Turkish language. Otokar is a main supplier of armored vehicles and platforms to both the Turkish Military Forces and various Allied Forces. (Source: CNW)

04 Dec 12. QinetiQ have been awarded an 18 month extension to its Distributed Synthetic Air Land Training (DSALT) contract by the U.K. MoD.
The initial contract was awarded in May 2009 for 4 years and allows for RAF pilots training alongside British Army forward air controllers and artillery personnel prior to deployment to the front line. The contact covers the provision and running of a bespoke multi-million pound training facility at RAF Waddington. The Distributed Synthetic Air Land Training (DSALT) contract, when awarded was worth £26m over four years. Under the contract sponsored by the RAF, QinetiQ as the project lead, and Boeing provided around 44 weeks access to specialist synthetic training facilities every year. The primary users remain HQ level fire planning cells and fire support teams, who act as the eyes and ears on the front line for artillery batteries plus the RAF pilots that will be operating alongside them in the region and engaged in ground attack missions. By working together they experience the complexities of controlling aircraft, artillery and other assets, all in fast-moving situations.

03 Dec 12. Raytheon UK has been awarded a significant contract by the UK MoD for delivery of a new GPS Anti-Jam Antenna System. The contract is for an undisclosed number of advanced systems for deployment in operational theaters spanning multiple vehicle platforms. This UOR (Urgent Operational Requirement) contract is the first award for Raytheon’s GPS Anti-Jam (AJ) Land product family. (Source: Yahoo!/PRNewswire)

04 Dec 12. The French defense procurement agency (DGA) has awarded Thales the MASTER contract (Moyen Adapté à la Simulation des Transmissions en Réseaux) to design, deliver and support a transmission network simulator. The MASTER simulator will enable the training of French Army personnel responsible for deploying components of the RITA system (Réseau Intégré des Transmissions Automatiques) in all the relevant operational environments.

06 Dec 12. The French Defence Procurement Agency (DGA) has once again endorsed Thales’s simulation expertise by awarding the company a contract to supply the STP NG1 new-generation platoon-level firing simulators for upgraded AMX 10 RC armored reconnaissance vehicles. The new systems will enter service from the end of 2014. The contract includes supply and commissioning of two simulators as well as on-site through-life support for three years.

SEA

06 Dec 12. A £46m contract to support and maintain a new sophisticated combat system across the Royal Navy’s world class submarine fleet has been awarded to BAE Systems. The Design Services Arrangement (DSA) contract will ensure that the system, which is used to navigate vessels as well as gather intelligence and defend against attacks, is maintained and developed over the next decade. The Royal Navy operates three classes of submarine totalling 10 vessels, which are used to safeguard the UK’s interests around the world. Currently different combat systems are used across the fleet. This new contract will help drive adoption of a Common Combat System across all current and future Royal Navy submarines, with considerable benefits to training, maintenance and updating costs. The contract has been awarded to BAE Systems Maritime-Submarines and will safeguard around a total of 30 jobs at the company’s sites in Ash Vale, Surrey, and Weymouth in Dorset.
