18 Sep 12. Harris Corporation received a $10m order to supply the Polish Ministry of National Defense with Falcon III® AN/PRC-117G multiband manpack radios and Falcon II® AN/PRC-150(C) high-frequency manpack radios. The Ministry of National Defense is acquiring the AN/PRC-117G multiband radio to provide communications interoperability with United States, NATO and coalition forces. The AN/PRC-117G delivers combat net radio, tactical satellite and ground-to-air capabilities in a lightweight, versatile platform. The AN/PRC-150(C) provides long-range Type-1 secure beyond-line-of-sight communications to forces operating in challenging environments. (Source: ASD Network)

18 Sep 12. MTL Group has been awarded significant orders for its IMPAS add on armour system. The order for IMPAS will be supplied in kit form for the customer to fit directly onto its vehicle. IMPAS is a perforated Armour system produced in various formats that gives excellent value for money compared to ceramics and composites, the system boasts an unrivalled multi hit capability and the latest developments allows for the ultra-high hard IMPAS to be formed at various angles to further advance its protection and reduce ballistic weak spots.

17 Sep 12. Babcock to provide maritime enterprise-wide IKM service to support coherence and collaboration. Babcock’s Collaborative Working Environment (CWE) information and knowledge management service is to be extended across the maritime enterprise, representing a significant step forward, under a contract awarded by the UK Ministry of Defence earlier this year. Full transition to the new maritime CWE capability will be completed by spring 2013. The CWE provides a secure web-based workspace for members of disparate organisations to work together within a single, secure environment, and is used by the MOD to share data and systems with all its Tier 1 industry partners on a wide range of new build and in-service programmes.

19 Sep 12. Navistar Defense, LLC received a delivery order for up to $282m to provide more than 2,300 survivability upgrade retrofit kits for International® MaxxPro® Dash Mine Resistant Ambush Protected (MRAP) vehicles. The order from the U.S. Army TACOM Life Cycle Management Command will upgrade MaxxPro Dash vehicles in theater with additional protection in response to evolving threats in Afghanistan. The order also includes parts and service.

17 Sep 12. API Technologies Corp. received a new $3.4m order to provide high-reliability receiver protectors for use in mobile, target acquisition Active Electronically Scanned Array (AESA) radar. 17 Sep 12. The U.S Navy has awarded General Dynamics Electric Boat a $94m contract for advance planning and preliminary execution of fire-restoration efforts on USS Miami (SSN-755). The USS Miami was damaged in a fire in May while it was in dry dock at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard in Kittery, Maine, for a 20-month engineered overhaul. The fire-restoration efforts include assessment and analysis, planning and material procurement, fabrication and initial installation, and are expected to be completed by June 2013. The contract includes an option which, if exercised, would bring the cumulative value to $100 million. Approximately 300 Electric Boat employees will be involved in the work, which will be done in coordination with the ongoing engineered overhaul of USS Miami at Portsmouth Naval Shipyard in Kittery.

Raytheon Company received an $8.7m modification to a previously awarded production contract to provide the U.S. Navy with Joint Tactical Terminal Senior (JTT-Sr) radios that are compatible with the new Common Interactive Broadcast (CIB) waveform and contain the latest security, hardware and software enhancements.
