15 May 12. Thales UK has accepted a contract with the UK MoD to upgrade the major surface fleet of Royal Navy with a new Fully Digital Radar Electronic Support Measures (RESM) system, featuring digital antennae. In conjunction with the MoD, Thales has undertaken a six-year, multi-m pound research programme, and this has culminated in the development of the direct radio frequency (RF) sampling technology and demonstration of a digital antenna. 18 May 12. Frazer-Nash has been awarded a contract to become the Independent Safety and Environmental Auditor for the MoD Air Commodities Team, following a competitive tender. The Air Commodities team is responsible for the delivery and support of a large range of common avionics equipment that is used across several Air Platforms, as well as Aircraft Ground Support Equipment. The Project Team is reviewing and updating the Safety Cases for all its equipment, and required independent third party audit to provide assurance that the Safety Cases are fit for purpose, and up to date.

16 May 12. Alliant Techsystems, Inc., Plymouth, Minn., was awarded a $58,272,447 firm-fixed-price contract. The award will provide for the modification of an existing contract to procure Spider XM-7 networked munitions systems. Work will be performed in Plymouth, Minn.; Wilmington, Mass.; and Rocket Center, W.Va., with an estimated completion date of April 30, 2013. One bid was solicited, with one bid received. The U.S. Army Contracting Command, Picatinny Arsenal, N.J., is the contracting activity (W15QKN-11-C-0126).

15 May 12. Ceradyne, Inc. received the second of two low rate initial production Enhanced Combat Helmet (ECH) orders. This release has a value of approximately $3.9m. The full multi-year production order is expected by the end of the second quarter of calendar year 2012. The total for the initial orders plus full production is expected to exceed $170m. 15 May 12. Flir Systems, Inc., Wilsonville, Ore., was awarded a firm-fixed-price contract with a maximum $37,975,358 for infrared/control infrared electronic units. There are no other locations of performance. Using service is Army. Type of appropriation is Army Working Capital Funds. There was one proposal with one response. The date of performance completion is March 1, 2014. The Defense Logistics Agency Aviation, Redstone Arsenal, Ala., is the contracting activity (SPRRA1-12-D-0078).

16 May 12. Harris Corporation received a $39m order from U.S. Special Operations Command (USSOCOM) for Falcon III®AN/PRC-152A wideband handheld tactical radios. The $39m order is the initial delivery order from a new $400m indefinite delivery, indefinite quantity (IDIQ) contract provided to Harris. The IDIQ supports USSOCOM’s Capital Equipment Replacement Program and represents an interim step in the modernization of the SOCOM tactical radio inventory. The contract also covers the Harris Falcon III® AN/PRC-117G multiband manpack radio.

14 May 12. Harris Corporation was awarded a $75m indefinite delivery, indefinite quantity (IDIQ) contract — with an initial delivery order of $8m — for its Falcon III®AN/PRC-117G multiband manpack radios from the U.S. Air Force. The contract and order were received by Harris in the third quarter of fiscal year 2012.

17 May 12. Northrop Grumman Systems Corp., San Diego, Calif., is being awarded a $33,280,877 cost-plus-fixed-fee contract for integrated sensor suite theater evaluation and test effort to develop an innovative counter-improvised explosive device capability. The location of the performance is San Diego, Calif. Work is to be completed by May 20, 2014. AFRL/PKDA, Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio, is the contracting activity (FA8650-12-C-7227).
