CONTRACT NEWS IN BRIEF

10 Jun 03. Lockheed Martin UK has been awarded a further contract for the Defence Fixed Telecommunications Service (DFTS). The new contract includes scope for Programme Management, Risk, Business Efficiency, Quality Assurance, Configuration Management Leadership and IT services.

6 Jun 03. The U.S. Navy awarded a $267.5m contract to Lockheed Martin to provide combat systems engineering, computer program development, and ship integration and test support to the Republic of Korea Navy. The Korean Navy selected the U.S. Navy and Lockheed Martin to provide the Aegis Weapon System for its KDX-III Destroyer Program in late 2002.

10 Jun 03. MacDonald, Dettwiler and Associates Ltd. has been awarded the first phase of a multi-million dollar contract by a prime contractor in the United States to work on a military demonstrator satellite. The first phase of the contract awarded to MDA subsidiary MD Robotics is valued at $1.45m.

11 Jun 03. Raytheon Systems Limited (RSL) has been awarded a contract by Lockheed Martin UK Limited – Integrated Systems to provide specialist Identification Friend or Foe (IFF) support to the United Kingdom Co-operative Engagement Capability programme.

4 Jun 03. Modern Technologies Corp. (MTC) selected by the U.S. Air Force, Warner Robins Air Logistics Center, Special Operations Forces Program Office, Robins AFB, GA to accomplish a $46.7m task order to upgrade the MH-53 helicopter fleet to a modernized MH-53M configuration. MTC, the prime contractor for the proposed work, has awarded subcontracts to DRS Engineering Development Labs, Inc. (EDL), Dayton, Ohio to provide the system electronics and interfaces and to Crestview Aerospace Corporation, Crestview, Florida to perform system installations. The majority of the effort will be performed beyond 2003

10 Jun 03. The U.S. Army awarded Honeywell International Inc. a $125m contract to develop technlogy for the production of radiation-hardened microelectronics.
Work on the contract would be completed by June 2008.

3 Jun 03. Raytheon Company has been awarded a direct sales contract at an undisclosed amount from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to provide technical, training and logistics support for the Kingdom’s Patriot and Hawk Air Defense Systems.

9 Jun 03. Elbit Systems Ltd. (NASDAQ: ESLT) has received a $47m contract from the Israeli Ministry of Defense for the supply of UAV systems to Israel Defense Forces (IDF). The contract is to be performed over a three-year period. Elbit Systems, through its subsidiary Silver Arrow, is the primary supplier of advanced tactical UAV systems to the IDF. The new contract follows a UAV project for the IDF that was successfully completed by Silver Arrow.

8 Jun 03. Tadiran Communications’ U.S. subsidiary won a $30m contract to supply military communications equipment to Israel’s Defence Ministry. The unit, Tallahassee Communications Industries Inc, will supply the equipment from 2004 through 2006. No other details were available.
