CONTRACT NEWS IN BRIEF
07 Nov 07. SELEX Sistemi Integrati, a Finmeccanica company, has been awarded a contract worth €3.6m by the Hungarian air navigation service provider, Hungarocontrol. The delivery order consists of a primary radar system, ATCR-33S, and a secondary radar system, SIR-S, to be installed in Budapest at “Ferihegy” airport. In addition, the company will also provide the customer with the necessary civil works to host the equipments, whose delivery is expected within August 2008. The new radar systems will be integrated with the systems already in use – a primary (ATCR-33K) and secondary radar systems (SIR-M), previously provided by SELEX Sistemi Integrati for the same airport.
The new supply will enable the customer to manage airport traffic with a high level of accuracy and completeness, guaranteeing major security over the Hungarian skies.
07 Nov 07. EADS Defence & Security (DS) has been awarded a contract for equipping the Special Forces of Bundeswehr with its newly developed self-guidance ram-air cargo parachute system ParaLander. As the company announced on Wednesday, the Federal Office of Defence Technology and Procurement (BWB) has signed a contract for the delivery of five ParaLander systems by end of this year in order to fulfil immediate requirements of the Bundeswehr ISAF contingent in Afghanistan.

DRS Technologies, Inc. was awarded multiple contracts since July 2007 totalling $26m from the U.S. Army’s Tank-Automotive and Armaments Command Life Cycle Management Command in Rock Island, Illinois, to produce test equipment and provide diagnostic program support for the Army’s office of Program Manager for Heavy Brigade Combat Team in Warren, Michigan. The work for these contracts is expected to begin immediately with completion expected by May 2008, and will be performed by the company’s DRS Test & Energy Management unit in Huntsville, Alabama. DRS will be responsible for manufacturing the hardware and software of Direct Support Electrical System Test Sets, and providing system technical support, technical updates and program management for the combat team’s Chassis Modernization/Embedded Diagnostic program. Canadian Commercial Corporation, General Dynamics Land Systems Canada, Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, is being awarded a $60,204,705 firm fixed priced delivery order modification under previously awarded contract (M67854-07-D-5028) for the purchase of OCONUS field service representatives, Mine Resistant Ambush Protected (MRAP) University, new equipment training, logistics and engineering requirements, logistics demonstration at Red River Army Depot, level of repair analysis, and PLL/ASL (prescribed load list/authorized stock level) sustainment parts. Work will be performed in combat areas of operations in an austere environment, and in Lansing, Mich. and Texarkana, Texas, and work is expected to be completed October 2008. Contract funds will not expire at the end of the current fiscal year. This contract was competitively procured. The Marine Corps Systems Command, Quantico, Va., is the contracting activity.
07 Nov 07. FLIR Systems, Inc. has been awarded a $17.4m delivery order from the U.S. Army Space and Missile Defense Command in Huntsville, Alabama for its THV-3000 Long Range Imager System. The units delivered under this order will support ongoing U.S. Army and U.S. Marine Corps programs. This order was made pursuant to a previously awarded indefinite delivery, indefinite quantity contract. Work on the delivery order will begin immediately and be performed in FLIR’s Danderyd, Sweden production facility.
