Oct 07. Blazepoint have been down selected, subject to final contract agreement, to supply a number of rugged products to BAE Integrated Systems Technology in support of Project Falcon. The products to be supplied include printers, scanners, laptops, fax machines and keyboards. This latest agreement is in addition to our existing contract to supply BAE Insyte with KVM Switches for the Falcon Project.
09 Oct 07. MoD awards rail contract to EWS. The Ministry of Defence has awarded its Strategic Rail Capability and Mainline Rail Freight Services haulage contract to EWS Network. MoD awarded the £28m contract to EWS following a competitive tender process. It is for four years and also covers the maintenance
of the MoD’s wagon fleet. EWS Network will supply locomotives to pull the MoD’s own fleet of railway wagons, as well as providing specialist services utilising
the EWS wagon fleet as required. In an average year the MoD utilises around 8,000 wagon movements on Britain’s rail network.
05 Oct 07. FRES: preferred bidder selected for system of systems integrator (SOSI). The MoD selected the Thales UK and Boeing team as the preferred bidder for the Future Rapid Effect System (FRES) Systems of Systems Integrator (SOSI) role. The SOSI will help coordinate the complex procurement of over 3,000 vehicles of many different types.
08 Oct 07. 140 mastiff vehicles for Iraq and Afghanistan. The Prime Minister announced to Parliament plans to buy 140 additional Mastiff vehicles to enhance the mobility and protection afforded to our troops on operations in Iraq and Afghanistan. MoD intends to finalise the deal for 140 of these battle-proven and highly popular vehicles in the next few weeks.

05 Oct 07. Boldon James announced another contract to supply SAFEmail version 2.2, our Secure Formal Email offering based on a Microsoft platform (Exchange & Outlook). The British Royal Navy’s new class of anti-air warfare Destroyer, the Type 45, is recognized as being the most advanced and powerful ships of its kind due to its state of the art communications, radar, weapons and countermeasure systems. British Aerospace (BAe) has received orders for up to 8 ships from the U.K. Ministry of Defence (MoD), the first of which – HMS Daring – is due for delivery into service in 2010. On completion of Daring’s current sea trials, another 5 will follow; Dauntless and Diamond due for service in 2011, and thereafter the Duncan, Dragon and Defender at six monthly intervals.
05 Oct 07. Bulgaria to Discuss Purchase of 4 French Corvettes. Bulgarian Prime Minister Sergei Stanishev and French President Nicolas Sarkozy have agreed to immediate talks on the purchase of four French Gowind corvettes, French naval systems company DCNS said. It is understood the deal could be worth 800 million to 950m euros ($1.13bn to $1.34bn). DCNS declined to confirm the estimate. “We are still in the discussion phase,” a spokeswoman said. 04 Oct 07. Alenia Aeronautica, a Finmeccanica company – head of a temporary grouping of companies formed with Lockheed Martin and AVIO – has signed with the Logistics Command of the Italian Air Force a three-year contract to provide technical and logistics support to the Italian Air Force’s fleet of C-130J transport aircraft. The contract, worth a total of 97m Euro – to be paid by the Italian Air Force over the four financial years from 2007 to 2010 – relates to a fully integrated service aimed at providing the organisation’s C-130J fleet with technical and logistical support that continues to gain in effectiveness.
