The UK DPA has published a ‘Possible Future Purchase Requirement in the Contracts Bulletin of June 12th for the Demonstration, Manufacture and Support Phases of the Manpack Communications Electronic Support Systems (ESM) programme known as SCARUS. It is envisaged that COTS products will be required with minimal development.
SCARUS, a two man system, will be required to perform On The Move Intercept and State Automated DF and Intercept. Ruggedised computer post analysis is also required.
ITT is expected in early August 02 with return by September 02.
12 Jun 02. General Dynamics Canada, a business unit of General Dynamics (NYSE:GD), has won a $198m contract to supply and integrate a new data management system for the CP-140 Aurora, Canada’s long range maritime patrol aircraft, as part of the ongoing Aurora Incremental Modernisation Project (AIMP).
Under the contract, General Dynamics Canada will supply a new mission computer and integrate upgraded sensors as well as provide ground facilities and integrated logistic support. The General Dynamics Canada designed data management system will provide the enhanced capability and flexibility required to allow the CP-140 Aurora to fulfil its varied and demanding operational roles.
Jun 02. The Royal Navy is undertaking a programme to provide an improved defensive anti-surface warfare capability, for surface ships, against Fast Attack Craft/Fast Inshore Attack Craft (FAC/FIAC). An industry briefing on the programme, which is still at the Concept Phase, is to be held at the DPA at 10.00hrs on 24 Jul 02.
