CONTRACT NEWS IN BRIEF

13 Mar 03. DRS Technologies, Inc. (NYSE: DRS – News) has been awarded new contracts to provide AN/SAY-1 Thermal Imaging Sensor System (TISS) spares for use on board U.S. Navy surface ships. The contracts, with a combined value of approximately $2.5m, were awarded to DRS by the Naval Inventory Control Point (NAVICP) in Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania. Work for these contracts will be accomplished by the company’s DRS Sensors & Targeting Systems unit in Anaheim, California. Product deliveries are expected to occur throughout DRS’s fiscal 2004, beginning April 1, 2003. TISS systems are installed on U.S. Navy surface ships for mine detection, surveillance, navigation and other operational uses.

13 Mar 03. BARCO has been awarded a contract by Raytheon Integrated Defense Systems of Tewksbury, Mass., USA to deliver a large quantity of displays and graphics controllers as a follow on contract to support the U.S. Navy and Coast Guard. These products will be used in conjunction with the Raytheon AN/SPS-73 (V) Radar System. This radar is a class B, X- and S-Band radar used for navigation, surface search and surveillance and other uses. This equipment is used on U.S. Navy and U.S. Coast Guard ships to replace the current navigational radars. The AN/SPS-73 radar has become the standard for navigational radars in the U.S. Navy fleet.

12 Mar 03. The U.S. Air Force awarded Lockheed Martin Corp. (NYSE:LMT – News) a contract worth up to $6bn to provide upgrades to its $67bn F/A-22 Raptor stealth fighter program. The Air Force said the award was a modification to an existing contract and covered a variety of system upgrades aimed at improving the capability and performance of the expensive fighter jet as work on the program
continues.

12 Mar 03. General Dynamics Decision Systems, a business unit of General Dynamics (NYSE: GD – News), has been chosen by the U.S. Army as the prime contractor and systems integrator for a $19.9m program to upgrade the Prophet tactical signals intelligence system. Comprising electronic components that are either vehicle-mounted or man-transportable, the Prophet Block II/III system will provide brigade commanders with significantly improved electronic surveillance capabilities and a new electronic attack capability.

12 Mar 03. Lockheed Martin Corp. is being awarded a $10.9m firm fixed price contract modification to provide for acquisition on one lot of C-130J clock 5.4 software revisions. This effort through undefinitized contract action is necessary. This definitization will occur within 180 days of issuance (on or before 27 August 2003). Total funds have been obligated. This work will be complete by April 2004.

12 Mar 03. L-3 Communications Holdings Inc. (NYSE:LLL – News) won a $1.5bn contract to maintain logistical support for U.S. special operations forces fighting in the U.S.-led war on terrorism.

12 Mar 03. -Lockheed Martin was awarded a $20.5m modification to a fixed-price- incentive-fee contract for delivery acceleration for Patriot PAC-3 LRIP-3 missiles on March 10, 2003. Work will be performed in Grand Prairie and is to be completed by May 31, 2004.

12 Mar 03. Lockheed Martin was awarded a $17m fixed-price-incentive-fee contract for Patriot advanced capability – 3 (PAC-3) FY03 production buy on March 10, 2003. Work will be performed iin Grand Prairie and is to be completed by Dec. 31, 2004.

12 Mar 03. -Lockheed Martin was awarded a $12.5m modification to a cost-plus- incentive-fee contract for the Patriot Advanced Capability – 3 (PAC-3) low-rate initial production – 2 acceleration on March 10, 2003. Work will be performed in Grand Prairie and is to be completed by Aug. 31, 2003.
