Rolls-Royce has secured orders to supply 350 maximum transmission unit (mtu) 199 series engines for Boxer armoured wheeled vehicles intended for the German Armed Forces (Bundeswehr) as well as other international customers. The orders, placed by Rheinmetall and KNDS Deutschland (KNDS), are for the 8-cylinder engines, each capable of producing either 530 or 600 kilowatts (Kw). 24 Jan 26. The UK Ministry of Defence has moved Project NYX into a new development phase, commissioning seven UK-based companies to design loyal wingman drones for Apache attack helicopters. The program aims to expand combat mass, improve survivability, and give the British Army aviation greater flexibility in contested airspace. On January 24, 2026, the UK Ministry of Defence announced that Project NYX has advanced into a new development phase, commissioning seven UK-based industry partners to design and prototype next-generation “loyal wingman” drones. These uncrewed aerial systems are intended to operate in close coordination with British Army Apache attack helicopters, augmenting mission effectiveness and resilience on the modern battlefield. 30 Jan 26. Cohort plc, the independent technology group, is pleased to announce that its subsidiary Marlborough Communications Ltd (“MCL”) has been awarded a contract with a total value of £14.0m, by a UK government customer for immediate delivery of uncrewed air systems, together with in-service support for two years. MCL will work with its long-term partner Skydio to supply these systems. In addition, MCL has received an order valued at £3.9m for supply of tactical audio systems for a UK customer.

29 Jan 26. Antillion has been awarded a position on the UK Ministry of Defence Digital Decision Accelerators for Defence (DDAD) Open Framework, under Lot 4 for Edge Storage and Compute. The DDAD is a long-term open framework valued at up to £180m over its lifetime, designed to support the rapid development, integration, and deployment of digital decision-support capabilities. This initiative reflects the scale of ambition behind ASGARD, the British Army’s flagship Transformative Capability Initiative, and the prioritisation of decision advantage within land operations. The framework focuses on the “Decide” element of the Sense–Decide–Effect cycle, utilizing modern AI and ML-driven technologies to assist land forces in real-time decision-making. For Lot 4, the primary objective is to support edge computing and local storage. This allows for low-latency processing in distributed environments where connectivity might be intermittent or limited, and where operational resilience is a necessity. Antillion focuses on these edge environments through its PACE AIR and PACE FRONTIER platforms, which are engineered to address constraints regarding space, power, and mobility in contested or degraded settings. 28 Jan 26. NATO and Systematic sign contract to advance Land C2 training capabilities. NATO personnel are receiving extended training support in SitaWare Headquarters – the Alliance’s new digital Land Command and Control (C2) software. The agreement marks an important step in the continued enhancement of NATO’s battle-management, situational awareness and interoperability capabilities. As part of the ongoing DEMETER Project, a new contract has been signed between NATO and Systematic to extend and expand the delivery of both classroom and computer-based learning. This contract ensures seamless continuation and adaptation of current and future Land C2 training, while also securing the Alliance’s ability to provide learning throughout the capability lifecycle. This joint initiative also broadens the overall scope of education through SitaWare Aspire, Systematic’s digital learning platform, within the NCI Academy training framework. New training will be introduced, with the flexibility to adjust content to NATO’s evolving operational requirements and long-term training objectives. Since contract signature in February 2024, SitaWare Headquarters – the world’s leading C4ISR solution – has been rolled out across NATO, reaching the key milestone of Initial Operating Capability (IOC) in March 2025.  Project DEMETER, is on track to achieve its target of Final Operating Capability (FOC) by end-March 2026. To support this progress, the NATO Communications and Information Agency (NCIA) and Systematic are now extending their co-operation to further strengthen training collaboration.

29 Jan 26. Lithuania’s Ministry of Defence (MoD) has awarded a contract to KNDS Deutschland for the supply of 12 Leguan bridge layer systems, each mounted on a Leopard 2 tank chassis. The agreement, which is valued at approximately €210m ($251m), includes an Integrated Logistics Support package. This package provides training, specialised tools, and spare parts to ensure the operational readiness of the bridge layer systems once delivered. 30 Jan 26. Rheinmetall signs framework contract for the production of hand grenades for the Dutch Army. Düsseldorf-based technology corporation Rheinmetall has signed a new multi-year framework contract with the Dutch armed forces for the production of hand grenades. Referring to previous framework contracts including 155 mm artillery and 40 mm ammunition, this latest agreement covers the delivery of approximately 15 different types of hand grenades from various Rheinmetall production sites across Germany and Europe. The contract was signed for an initial term of five years, with the option of extending it for a further two years, and has a value within a double-digit million-euro range. This will enable the Dutch Army to procure different types of hand grenades flexibly and in line with its requirements throughout the entire term of the contract. The hand grenades are manufactured at Rheinmetall’s plants in Trittau and Silberhütte, Germany, as well as in Schwanenstadt, Austria. They are in accordance with the latest safety and quality requirements, and will enhance the operational readiness and training of the Dutch armed forces.

 

27 Jan 26. Turkish defence firm STM has signed a contract for its Kargu rotary-wing and Alpagu fixed-wing loitering munition systems for the first time with an unnamed European NATO country. STM confirmed to Janes in mid-January that both systems will be operationally deployed as part of an autonomous systems project. The contract represents more than a platform sale. Under the programme, Kargu and Alpagu will be integrated onto armoured land vehicles, with STM also responsible for battle management system (BMS) and combat management software integration. According to STM, the project is designed to ensure full operational alignment with the customer’s existing platforms and doctrines and is intended as a reference for potential broader European adoption. Kargu is a manportable, rotary-wing system with over 30 minutes of endurance and a 10 km range. It uses artificial intelligence (AI)-supported image processing from electro-optic/infrared (EO/IR) sensors. According to STM, Kargu has a low radar cross-section, supports swarm operations, and can operate despite electronic warfare (EW), or in global navigation satellite services (GNSS)-denied environments. It can be fitted in the field with anti-personnel or armour-piercing warheads and deployed by a single soldier in under one minute. Alpagu is a lightweight (sub 2 kg), fixed-wing system designed for high-speed dive attacks. It has an 8 km range and 15 minutes endurance, according to STM. With a low radar cross-section and AI target tracking, Alpagu is launchable from land, naval, or air platforms and can be deployed by a single operator within one minute, the company added. The French Directorate General of Armaments (DGA) has ordered long-range, remote-controlled munitions from the European defence company MBDA and Aviation Design.  The contract, finalised last month, involves the joint production of a Shahed-style one-way attack drone known as the One Way Effector.  The DGA expects to receive the first deliveries for the armed forces by mid-2027.  (Source: army-technology.com)

 

28 Jan 26. Germany contracts Polaris to build and flight test reusable hypersonic air vehicle. The German government has contracted Polaris Spaceplanes to build and flight test a reusable hypersonic air vehicle. The Bremen-based company announced the contract from the Federal Office of Bundeswehr Equipment, Information Technology and In-Service Support (BAAINBw) award on 28 January, saying it covers the manufacture and flight test of the two-stage, horizontal take-off, and fully reusable Hypersonic Test and Experimentation Vehicle (HYTEV) research vehicle. “The main purpose of the two-stage system is to serve as [a] hypersonic testbed and experimental platform for defence-related as well as scientific/institutional research. In a secondary function, the vehicle can be used as [a] spaceplane for launching small satellites when using an expendable upper stage,” Polaris Spaceplanes said. The value of the contract was not disclosed. Early development of the HYTEV was contracted by the BAAINBw in 2024 and 2025. As noted by the company, the HYTEV is the approximate size and weight of a manned tactical combat aircraft, with the main stage powered by two turbofans and an aerospike rocket engine, while the upper stage is rocket-powered. 28 Jan 26. Raytheon, an RTX (NYSE: RTX) business, has been awarded a $197 m contract from the U.S. Air Force Life Cycle Management Center for the MS-110 Multispectral Reconnaissance System. The contract includes production, aircraft integration and engineering support for the Polish Air Force, the first NATO member and fourth global air force to acquire the capability. The contract includes seven advanced reconnaissance pods that provide sophisticated hardware and software. 21 Jan 26. BAE Systems has received a $473m contract award for the production of 40 additional M109A7 Paladin Self-Propelled Howitzer sets, which includes the M992A3 Carrier Ammunition Tracked ammunition-loading vehicle. The contract will also provide additional support services, including technical support packages, post-production refurbishment and welding compliance. The contract was awarded by the Army Contracting Command (ACC) Detroit in September and is the first award of a five-year contract. 26 Jan 26. Elbit Systems Ltd. (NASDAQ: ESLT) (TASE: ESLT) (“Elbit Systems” or the “Company”) announced today, following the U.S. Government’s publication from September 29, 2025 of an award to General Dynamics Ordnance and Tactical Systems (GD-OTS) of an order for the Bradley Fighting vehicle Active Protection System (APS), that Elbit Systems has been awarded by GD-OTS a $228 m contract to supply the Company’s Iron Fist APS. The contract will be executed over a period of three years. The Iron Fist APS is an advanced hard-kill active protection system designed to enhance the survivability and self-defense capabilities of armored platforms against a wide range of modern battlefield threats. As the Israel Defense Forces’ second-generation APS, Iron Fist combines high performance with a compact design, characterized by low volume, weight and power requirements. The system delivers 360-degree protection against various anti-armor threats, including Anti-Tank Rockets (ATR), Anti-Tank Guided Missiles (ATGM), Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS), loitering munitions, and Kinetic-Energy (APFSDS) tank ammunition, in both open terrain and complex urban environments.

 

20 Jan 26. The contract for 535 militarised versions of JCB’s 437HT wheeled loader has been secured with the United States Marine Corps (USMC) and will be supplied over the next decade. The contract is the third to be signed by the USMC, which five months ago placed a $45m order for a militarised version of JCB’s 4CX backhoe loader. That followed a $39 m deal in 2024 for Multi Terrain Loaders, a militarised version of the JCB Teleskid compact tracked loader. JCB will supply a number of test machines to the USMC later this year and it is anticipated that full production will begin in 2027. This latest contract with the USMC, which was secured after an extensive evaluation period, is part of JCB’s long-standing support of defence organisations around the world. Oshkosh Defense, an Oshkosh Corporation company, announced today it was awarded a contract from the US Army to deliver 97 additional FMTV A2 Low-Velocity Airdrop (LVAD) 6×6 and 4×4 Cargo vehicles. This award strengthens the Army’s modernisation goals by leveraging the advanced FMTV A2 to enable the rapid delivery of improved LVAD capabilities. In addition to the vehicles, the award also includes Arctic Kits, underscoring the platform’s ability to operate in remote, extreme-cold environments, an essential capability as the Army prioritises readiness for Arctic operations. The U.S. Navy has awarded Data Link Solutions, a joint venture between BAE Systems and Collins Aerospace, an RTX business, a $248m production contract to deliver hundreds of Multifunctional Information Distribution System Joint Tactical Radio System (MIDS JTRS) terminals for U.S. forces and allies. The system provides situational awareness and enables jam-resistant Link 16 connectivity with line-of-sight voice, video, and data communications for sea, ground, and air assets in dynamic operational environments. Finding the quickest and most secure path, MIDS JTRS enables the sharing of relative position and targeting data among joint forces and allows warfighters to make well-informed decisions swiftly in contested scenarios.

 

21 Jan 26. Raytheon Co., Tucson, Arizona, is awarded a $380,809,286 fixed-price incentive and firm-fixed-price modification (P00010) to a contract (N0001925C0071). 26 Jan 26. US Marine Corps Orders 600+ Anduril Bolt-M Systems. The U.S. Marine Corps awarded Anduril a $23.9m contract to deliver more than 600 Bolt-M systems for the next phase of the Organic Precision Fires-Light (OPF-L) program beginning in February 2026. The USMC’s OPF-L program is designed to provide dismounted Marine infantry rifle squads with a man-packable, easy-to-operate precision strike capability to engage adversaries beyond line of sight. The contract award comes after 13 months of rigorous testing. During that phase, Anduril delivered an initial tranche of more than 250 Bolt-M systems and validated Bolt’s performance against a variety of safety, environmental, and performance requirements. Across hundreds of flights, Bolt-M demonstrated its category-leading range, endurance, and payload capacity against multiple target sets. 27 Jan 26. Gentex Corporation announced that its PURSUIT Helmet System has been selected by the US Naval Aircrew Systems program office (PMA-202) as the Next Generation Fixed Wing Helmet (NGFWH). The Navy NGFWH awarded contract is a 5-year Indefinite Delivery, Indefinite Quantity (ID/IQ) contract to deliver over 5,000 NGFWH systems and associated spares to support the fielding of the next generation helmet across all Navy fixed wing aircraft, including E-2D, F/A-18, E/A-18G, T-45, T-6, and the in-development Undergraduate Jet Training System (UJTS), and is anticipated to total approximately $22M during the period of performance, representing one of the most significant modernization efforts for US Navy aircrew flight equipment in recent years. 21 Jan 26. US Space Force Awards Starfish Space $52.5m for Proliferated LEO Deorbit Services.. In a landmark move for orbital sustainability, the U.S. Space Force has awarded Starfish Space a $52.5m contract to provide end-of-life disposal services for the Proliferated Warfighter Space Architecture (PWSA). On Wednesday, the U.S. Space Force’s Space Systems Command (SSC) announced the contract, which marks the first-ever “Deorbit-as-a-Service” agreement for a Low Earth Orbit (LEO) constellation. Under the terms of the deal, Starfish Space will utilize its Otter servicing vehicle to autonomously dock with and safely deorbit defunct satellites within the PWSA, a critical network managed by the Space Development Agency (SDA). The Otter is an ESPA-class satellite servicing vehicle designed for autonomous Rendezvous, Proximity Operations, and Docking (RPOD). Unlike traditional servicers, the Otter is approximately 10 times smaller in mass, utilizing high-efficiency electric propulsion to maintain a low-cost profile while executing high-precision maneuvers. The vehicle is powered by three proprietary technology pillars:

  • CETACEAN: A computer vision-based navigation software that enables the vehicle to estimate the relative position and orientation of a client satellite using off-the-shelf sensors.
  • CEPHALOPOD: Autonomous guidance and control software that plans and executes safe approach trajectories.
  • Nautilus: A universal capture mechanism designed to adhere to virtually any flat surface, allowing the Otter to dock with satellites that were not originally designed with docking ports. (Source: Satnews)

26 Jan 26. Amazon Web Service Inc., Seattle, Washington, was awarded a $581,318,585 firm-fixed-price contract for the Cloud One Program. This contract provides for Amazon Cloud Service in support of the Air Force’s Cloud One Program and their customers. Work will be performed at the contractors designated facilities across the contiguous U.S. and is expected to be completed by Dec. 7, 2028. This award is the result of a sole source acquisition. Fiscal 2026 operations and maintenance funds in the amount of $3,497,937 are being obligated at the time of award. 21 Jan 26. Microsoft Corp., Redmond, Washington, was awarded a $170,444,462 firm-fixed-price task order for the Cloud One Program. This contract provides for Microsoft Azure cloud service offerings in support of the Air Force’s Cloud One Program and their customers. Work will be performed at the contractors designated facilities across the contiguous U.S. and is expected to be completed by Dec. 7, 2028. This award is the result of a sole source acquisition. Fiscal 2026 operations and maintenance funds in the amount of $1,944,400 are being obligated at the time of award. 28 Jan 26. Pole Star Defense closed Q4 2025 with two significant federal wins: a $36m, three-year renewal with the U.S. Coast Guard and a new five-year contract with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. Together, the awards extend the company’s role as a trusted provider of maritime domain awareness to U.S. government customers.  The Coast Guard renewal builds on a partnership first established in 2020 with a $50m award. Under the extended agreement, Pole Star Defense continues to deliver vessel tracking, system modernization, and cloud-based analytics that support Coast Guard operations nationwide.

 

26 Jan 26. Rogue Signal Processing Corp.,* Sterling, Virginia, was awarded a $100,000,000 cost-no-fee, cost-plus-fixed-fee, firm-fixed-price, and indefinite-quantity contract to analyze, design, develop, enhance, test, deploy, procure, and sustain prototype technologies and sensors. Work locations will be determined with each order. The estimated completion date is Jan. 22, 2031. Funding will be obligated with each order by fiscal year and fund type as requirements are identified. The Israel Ministry of Defense (IMOD) Defense Procurement Directorate (DPD) has issued a multi-year order for air munitions manufactured by Elbit Systems, valued at approximately $183m (NIS 570 m). The agreement, signed by IMOD Director General Maj. Gen. (Res.) Amir Baram will expand Israel’s defense industrial base and strengthen the IDF’s capabilities for the immediate future and the challenging security decade ahead. This initiative is part of the strategic approach led by Defense Minister Israel Katz and the Ministry’s Director General.

 

22 Jan 26. MS Tech Ltd., a global developer, manufacturer, and innovator of nanosensors, biosensors, detection products and solutions, announced today that it has won a significant contract to supply and install multiple units of its DUOSCAN™ explosives and narcotics trace detection systems at the new Adani Navi Mumbai International Airport in India. 26 Jan 26. ST Engineering announced today that its Land Systems business had been awarded a contract by the Ministry of Defence (MINDEF) in December 2025 for the production and supply of the next generation Infantry Fighting Vehicles (IFVs). This milestone underscores ST Engineering’s leadership in delivering advanced defence solutions to meet evolving operational needs.  The IFVs, scheduled for progressive delivery from 2028 onwards, will be based on ST Engineering’s Terrex s5, the latest addition to the Group’s family of 8×8 armoured fighting platforms. Thales supports the Qatar Emiri Air Force in strengthening its air protection with the GM400α and the GM200MM/A radars air surveillance systems.  Qatar has ordered GM200MM/A (Ground Master 200 Multi-Mission All-in-one) and GM400α (Ground Master Alpha) radars from Thales to enhance its airspace protection capabilities.  In addition to the radars, a national supervision and maintenance system will be delivered, as well as a training programme for operators and technicians.  Renowned for their reliability and efficiency, the Thales GM400α and GM200MM/A radars play an indispensable role in aerial surveillance and sovereignty around the world.  Thales has been a trusted partner of the State of Qatar for over 40 years, and supports the local economy and the country’s sovereignty through digital technologies in line with the Qatar National Vision 2030. Sabena Aerospace Engineering, Woluwe-Saint-Lambert, Belgium, has been awarded a $235,449,716 ceiling, time-and-materials, and firm-fixed-price contract for F-16 System Program Office Foreign Military Sales (FMS) support. This contract provides for F-16 Intermediate and Depot Level aircraft and engine maintenance, and material management support for Ukraine. Work will be performed at Sabena’s facility in Woluwe-Saint-Lambert, Belgium, and is expected to be completed by Jan. 28, 2029.  This contract involves FMS to Ukraine. This contract was a sole source acquisition. FMS funds in the amount of $69,725,380 are being obligated at the time of award.
