09 Dec 25. HII Deepens Partnership with Babcock International Group in Support of Virginia-Class Submarine Construction. Today, HII (NYSE: HII) and Babcock International Group (Babcock) have signed a contract that expands their strategic partnership to further support the Virginia-class submarine construction to increase throughput at HII’s Newport News Shipbuilding (NNS) division. Additionally, the contract will build resiliency within HII’s submarine supply base. This is the first Virginia-class outsourced contract to Babcock in support of NNS specific submarine work, authorising Babcock to build complex submarine assemblies at their Rosyth facility in Scotland, for Virginia-class Block VI fast-attack submarines. The expansion of the partnership with Babcock will increase the number of suppliers that can perform large structure work with requisite quality.

Rolls-Royce Submarines has awarded a contract worth up to £400m ($533m) to Assystem, AtkinsRéalis, and Frazer-Nash to deliver engineering expertise, nuclear capabilities, and other professional services. Under the five-year Capability Assured Strategic Partnership (CASP), Assystem, AtkinsRéalis, and Frazer-Nash aim to consolidate their respective nuclear capabilities to support the Royal Navy’s submarines programme and Defence Nuclear Enterprise. 11 Dec 25. Diehl –Sweden places new order for IRIS-T SLS air defence systems and logistics support from Diehl Defence. Diehl Defence has received an order from the Swedish Defence Materiel Administration for launchers for the IRIS-T SLS short-range ground-based air defence system. The contract also includes a full logistics package with spare parts, extending the company’s long cooperation with the Swedish Armed Forces. Sweden has been an IRIS-T consortium partner for many years and operates the IRIS-T air-to-air missile on its Gripen aircraft. Alongside the air-to-air version, Sweden fields the IRIS-T SLS and decided in June 2025 to procure seven units of the medium-range IRIS-T SLM system. This will equip Sweden with a modern, layered air defence capability that strengthens national protection and contributes to European security. 12 Dec 25. HENSOLDT is equipping air defence systems from Rheinmetall subsidiary Rheinmetall Air Defence AG with radars from its SPEXER 2000 product family. The companies have now signed a long-term framework agreement that will remain valid until the 2030s. The agreement covers the flexible provision and delivery of large quantities of radars for ground-based air defence applications – in particular for drone defence solutions and the Skyranger 30 air defence system from Rheinmetall Air Defence. The contract thus has a potential volume in the high three-digit range. With the framework agreement now in place, both companies have laid the foundation for predictable, efficient and reliable cooperation. The agreement offers both sides a high degree of planning security and binding purchase conditions and ensures that core components of the SPEXER 2000 product range are available as needed and in resilient supply chains. Various companies within the Rheinmetall Group can place orders under the framework agreement. The SPEXER radar family offers high-performance surveillance radars for various ranges for the automatic detection and classification of ground, sea and low-flying air targets. The SPEXER 2000 is used by the German Armed Forces in field camp protection (ASUL), the high-energy laser for drone defence (HoWiSM) and the air defence system for close and next-range protection (NNbS), among other things. Together, Rheinmetall and HENSOLDT are making an important contribution to strengthening the air defence capabilities of the German Armed Forces and allied nations. The cooperation underscores the shared goal of strengthening the European defence industry, keeping critical technologies available and providing long-term support for the operational readiness of modern air defence systems.

Renk – The Royal Netherlands Army’s Army Maintenance and Logistics Command (AMLC) has awarded Renk Test System (RTS), a subsidiary of Renk Group, a contract to supply a suite of test systems for military vehicles. The scope of the contract includes the delivery of a 1,500 kilowatt (kW) full vehicle drive train test rig and three engine test rigs with power classes of 1,500kW, 700kW, and 350kW. Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace (Kongsberg) has signed a contract with the Swedish Defence Materiel Administration for the delivery of Protector remote weapon stations for, among others, the Combat Vehicle 90 (CV90). The contract has been valued at roughly SEK 400m (approx. A $64m), with a potential increase for additional RWS units for other vehicles. The weapon station Protector RS4 is a modernised version of the army’s existing Protector Nordic variant. The State Department has made a determination approving a possible Foreign Military Sale to the Government of Denmark of Integrated Battle Command System with Indirect Fire Protection Capability and related equipment for an estimated cost of $3.0bn. The Defense Security Cooperation Agency delivered the required certification notifying Congress. The Government of Denmark has requested to buy twenty-four (24) All Up Round Magazine (AUR-M); eight (8) Indirect Fire Protection Capability Increment 2 launchers; two (2) Sentinel A4 radars and Integrated Battle Command System (IBCS); two (2) IBCS Engagement Operations Centers; two (2) IBCS Integrated Collaborative Environments; and six (6) IBCS Integrated Fire Control Network relays. 10 Dec 25. Rheinmetall Awarded Contract for Trailblazer on the UK Multiple Launch Rocket System A2. Rheinmetall UK have been awarded a contract by the NATO Support & Procurement Agency (NSPA) to provide Trailblazer Driver Vision and Local Situation Awareness System to the UK Ministry of Defence’s M270 A2 Multiple Launch Rocket System (MLRS) platform upgrade. The initial contract will see prototypes delivered in early 2026, with the main production starting later that year. The total contract value is in the mid-single-digit m euro range. The M270 A2 MLRS will be the 17th military platform to use the Trailblazer, which was developed and manufactured in the UK. There are currently seven user countries. The upgrade programme for the M270 A2 MLRS tasks Rheinmetall UK to design and deliver enhanced Vehicle Vision capability against specific platform requirements. As a mature, software-defined and SIL(safety integrity level) 2-certified system, Trailblazer is already installed in the Boxer Mechanised Infantry Vehicle, the Challenger 3 main battle tank and the Warrior infantry fighting vehicle. This offers advantages through the standardisation of the entire British combat vehicle fleet. This programme will see the UK’s M270 A2 MLRS issued with the most modern and capable vehicle vision technology designed to aid vehicle manoeuvre in complex environments 24/7 for both driver and commander. The programme responsibility includes driver vision sensors, remote side and rear vision sensors, delivery of installation kits including hardened cabling, switches and protective covers. Trailblazer improves crew effectiveness by extending the vehicle field of view beyond the daylight spectrum. With enhanced day light, thermal and fusion vision, Trailblazer offers significant crew advantage in adverse weather, obscured and low-light conditions. Featuring very low-latency, the systems aid terrain navigation, obstacle avoidance, safe route selection and enhanced threat detection. 08 Dec 25. Rheinmetall to supply tank ammunition to the Bundeswehr – new order worth several hundred m euros. The Bundeswehr has once again placed an order with Rheinmetall for 120 mm tank ammunition. The German Armed Forces ordered additional combat and training ammunition under the existing framework agreement. The new order is worth several hundred m euros. In July 2023, the Bundeswehr extended an existing framework contract with Rheinmetall for the supply of tank ammunition, increasing the total value to around €4 bn. Until the end of 2030, the framework contract allows the procurement of several hundred thousand combat and training cartridges of various types in 120 mm x 570 calibre, such as those fired by the main weapon of the Leopard 2 battle tank. The order underscores Rheinmetall’s role as a major supplier to the Bundeswehr in the field of 120 mm tank ammunition. It reflects the armed forces’ efforts to replenish their stocks and increase their ammunition stocks considering the current security situation. Rheinmetall is the leading supplier of ammunition in this calibre to many countries that use the Leopard battle tank and its 120 mm smoothbore gun.
11 Dec 25. Rheinmetall – German Armed Forces orders additional communication headsets with hearing protection function from Rheinmetall – order value exceeds €130m. The German Armed Forces has once again commissioned Rheinmetall to supply the communication headset with hearing protection function. In December 2025, a third delivery lot was called up from the framework contract, awarded in April 2024. A total of 50,000 sets with hearing protection function (German “Sprechsatz mit Gehörschutzfunktion”, abbreviated as “SmG”) and other items are to be delivered. The order value is over €130 m net. The framework contract serves for the delivery of up to 191,000 SmG sets and has a duration of seven years, and a possible total volume of around €400 m net. The German Bundestag’s Budget Committee had imposed conditions on the project. As a result, only a total of 60,000 sets were initially ordered for delivery in 2024 and 2025. The two delivery lots financed by the special fund include additional items such as connection cables. The two orders had a net value of approximately €150 m. These first two delivery lots will be fully delivered by the end of 2025. The SmG is a key project for the soldiers’ individual equipment. A SmG set includes modern active ear defenders that dampen harmful impulse noise and can amplify quiet sounds. Furthermore, the system has a microphone and can be connected to various radio devices, enabling voice communication. In addition to the combined headset, the scope of delivery includes various push-to-talk (PTT) buttons and optional cable sets for connecting to various radio devices and on-board communication systems. Rheinmetall has engaged two leading manufacturers as subcontractors for the project: 3M Peltor with the ComTac VIII headset and CEOTRONICS AG with CT-Multi PTT 1C and 3C, as well as WPTT and cables. The SmG is compatible with the new combat helmet also supplied by Rheinmetall, as well as with other types of helmets used by the German Armed Forces. With this latest order, Rheinmetall underscores its leading role in the field of soldier equipment. For example, the technology company is the prime contractor supplying the German Armed Forces with the Future Soldier System – Advanced System. Rheinmetall markets various configurations of its Gladius soldier system internationally.
12 Dec 25. Rheinmetall to supply Skyranger 30 for mobile air defence – order value in the triple-digit million euro range. Rheinmetall has received another major order for mobile air defence systems. The Dutch Ministry of Defen ce has commissioned Rheinmetall Air Defence to supply a two-digit number of Skyranger air defence systems for the Dutch armed forces. The order value is in the triple-digit million euro range. The first Skyranger weapon platforms are to be delivered at the end of 2028, with the final delivery scheduled before the end of 2029. A large part of the value added will be generated locally in the Netherlands. The Skyranger Weapon Platform consists of a standard Skyranger 30 air defence turret and a lower mount, which allows the system to be used mobile on an customer’s armoured combat support vehicle or to be operated stationary from the ground. In addition to the Skyranger weapon platforms, the customer has ordered tactical level control nodes and hooklift transport platforms for purely stationary deployment. The scope of delivery also includes the integration into the existing Dutch air defence architecture, classroom simulators and a comprehensive integrated logistics support package. The Skyranger 30 provides the ideal balance of mobility, protection, flexibility and precision, meeting the increasing demands of challenging threat scenarios at close and very close range. Designed as a modular hybrid solution, the turret houses a powerful 30 mm x 173 KCE revolver cannon, the necessary sensors including a tracking radar and can also be equipped with additional effectors such as surface-to-air guided missiles in the future. Its well-considered design, high dynamics, large elevation range and state-of-the-art sensors enable autonomous and networked operations. 08 Dec 25. Rolls-Royce receives major order to supply more than 300 Leopard 2 engines. Rolls-Royce has received a major order from defence company KNDS to supply more than 300 mtu MB 873 Ka-501 engines for new Leopard 2 battle tanks. The drive systems are intended for vehicles that several European countries, including Germany, Lithuania, Sweden, the Netherlands and the Czech Republic, have ordered from KNDS for their armies. Gabler, a leading manufacturer of submarine technologies, has expanded its European in-service support capabilities through a trilateral framework agreement covering German, Italian and Portuguese naval fleets. The framework agreement was formally signed last week at the Liaison Office of Germany’s Federal Office for Equipment, Information Technology and In-Service Support of the Bundeswehr (BAAINBw) in Lahnstein, near Koblenz. It builds upon Gabler’s existing German Navy contract with BAAINBw, signed in June 2025, and now extends support services to the Italian Navy’s U212A-class submarines – expanding the partnership established in 2016 – and for the first time to the Portuguese Navy’s 209PN-class submarines.

Leonardo and the Italian National Armaments Directorate have signed a multi-year contract to provide Logistics Support for the Italian Air Force’s fleet of C-27J “Spartan” tactical transport aircraft and for the Full Motion Simulator of the International Training Centre (ITC) at the Air Base in Pisa, headquarters of the 46th Air Brigade. The contract will run from 2026 to 2028 under a Performance-Based model, ensuring high levels of efficiency for the Italian Air Force’s fleet of 12 aircraft operating out of the Pisa and Pratica di Mare (Rome) bases. Quantum Systems – The Federal Office of Bundeswehr Equipment, Information Technology and In-Service Support (BAIINBw) and Quantum Systems today signed a contract for the procurement of up to 747 reconnaissance drones to renew the Bundeswehr’s ALADIN system. Quantum Systems has been awarded the contract for the successor to the ALADIN reconnaissance system (imaging airborne reconnaissance drone for close-range surveillance). The contract underscores Quantum Systems’ role as a key partner in the field of unmanned and intelligent systems. A fixed order will be placed for 147 systems, including related services. Up to 600 additional systems are provided as options in the framework agreement. Quantum Systems has guaranteed delivery of at least 250 systems per year, with the possibility of further increasing capacity if necessary. ALADIN is to be deployed in the army, navy and air force and is one of the Bundeswehr’s main reconnaissance systems.

BAE Systems Land & Armaments L.P., York, Pennsylvania, was awarded a $198,415,884 fixed-price-incentive modification (P00041) to contract W56HZV-23-C-0024 for a revision to the Armored Multi-Purpose Vehicles, supporting the purchase of 240 vehicles to prevent a break in production. This modification brings the total cumulative face value of the contract to $2,479,580,090. Work will be performed in York, Pennsylvania, with an estimated completion date of May 31, 2028. Fiscal 2026 procurement of weapons and tracked combat vehicles, Army funds in the amount of $198,415,884 were obligated at the time of the award. 05 Dec 25. Ondas to develop drone-based border protection system for the United States. Ondas Holdings’ Ondas Autonomous Systems (OAS) has been selected as the prime contractor for a development and commercialisation programme for a border protection system for the United States. Ondas expects to receive the initial purchase order in January 2026 to launch a multi-phase programme spanning the next two years. Under the tender, OAS will architect, develop and integrate a full-scale drone-based autonomous border protection system designed to operate across both fixed and mobile environments. The multi-phase programme is expected to culminate in the deployment of thousands of autonomous drones to provide persistent ISR, swarm-based response and automated threat mitigation across complex border terrain. All sensors, effectors, and mission operations will be unified under a centralised command-and-control architecture. As prime contractor, OAS will lead system design and integration, combining its autonomous aerial platforms with complementary technologies from partners. Ondas said that it expects the architecture developed under this programme to be “highly relevant” to additional defence and homeland security customers in other countries. BAE Systems has received a $123 m contract from the U.S. Navy to modernize the Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer USS Forrest Sherman (DDG 98). The total value of the competitively awarded contract could reach $139m if all options are exercised. BAE Systems’ Norfolk shipyard will begin work aboard the 9,200-ton ship in February 2026 under the Navy Depot Modernization Period (DMP) contract. In addition to underwater hull preservation work, the team will also recondition the ship’s engineering spaces, upgrade its command-and-control equipment, and refurbish the crew’s living spaces. 08 Dec 25. BAE Systems has been awarded a $36m production contract from Lockheed Martin to deliver Multifunction Modular Mast (MMM) systems for integration onto U.S. Navy submarines. The MMM system is a radio frequency receiving antenna that provides U.S. Navy submarines the ability to detect, identify, and direction-find adversary communications signals before rising to the surface. The antennas will mount on new Virginia-class submarines and feed into Lockheed Martin’s AN/BLQ-10 electronic warfare (EW) system.

The U.S. Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) has awarded BAE Systems’ (LON: BA) FAST Labs™ research, development, and production organization a $16 m Phase 2 contract for the Oversight program. The Oversight program is focused on creating an autonomous system that keeps track, or maintains constant “custody,” of a large number of terrestrial assets via new satellite constellations. The award follows the successful completion of the Phase 1 program. During Phase 1, BAE Systems’ software was integrated into a modeling and simulation environment to demonstrate a custody mission on representative satellite and sensor models. In Phase 2, BAE Systems will mature its solution algorithms and demonstrate operation with increasingly larger constellations, more complex scenarios, and higher fidelity modeling and simulation environments. 10 Dec 25. South Korea has signed a deal to supply military equipment to the Peruvian army, South Korea’s presidential office said on Wednesday. Under the framework agreement between the two governments, Peru plans to procure a total of 195 units, 54 K2 tanks and 141 wheeled armored vehicles, in cooperation with a South Korean defence firm and Peru’s state-owned defence company, the office said in a statement. The statement did not specify the contract’s value, but said the scale of the ground-equipment exports covered by the agreement is the largest ever for South Korean defence exports to Latin America. “If the implementation contract is successfully completed, it would mark the K2 tank’s first entry into the Latin American market after its expansion into Europe,” it added.
