3 Oct 25. Critical UK satellites to be defended from laser threats.
The UK is investing in sensors that will help protect satellites crucial to our economy and security from lasers from adversaries
• New detection tech is being built to spot lasers that adversaries may use to dazzle satellites and intercept communications.
• UK Armed Forces project will help protect satellites that are used for everything from bank transfers and weather forecasts to emergency services and intelligence operations.
• One fifth of the UK economy is reliant on satellite services, with this latest innovation securing economic growth and making our country more secure as part of the Plan for Change.
British businesses, emergency services and more will be protected from drastic disruption by new sensors that identify laser threats from adversaries to military and civilian satellites in space. Lasers can be used by adversaries to track the location of satellites, dazzle or blind them, or to intercept and interrupt communications. The new sensor technology under development will be able to determine the characteristics of lasers based in space or on the ground and whether they pose a threat to the satellite, providing the military with crucial information to protect and defend UK and allied space systems and assets. Nearly 20% of UK GDP is reliant on satellite services, which are essential for supporting daily life, including through communication, money transfers, navigation, emergency services, and weather forecasting.

02 Oct 25. Boost to jobs and military capability with new defence equipment system. New £320m contract for a platform to revolutionise how the Armed Forces manage and maintain defence equipment to help the military make better decisions faster will create 100 new highly-skilled UK jobs. The UK’s Armed Forces will be strengthened by a new cutting-edge platform that will revolutionise how the military manages and maintains its equipment, driving efficiency and creating more than 100 highly-skilled jobs. The new platform will use artificial intelligence (AI) to help ensure Armed Forces have the right equipment in the right place at the right time, delivering on the ambitions of the Strategic Defence Review. The £320m contract with IBM UK for the Defence Equipment Engineering Asset Management Systems (DEEAMS) will create 100 new highly-skilled jobs in the UK, making defence an engine for growth and delivering on the Government’s Plan for Change. The new system will replace 17 fragmented, siloed and outdated applications with one enabled modern streamlined platform, using AI to bring over £1bn in benefits such as savings on support and IT costs. It will provide personnel with real-time information to predict maintenance and repairs, stock availability, and engineering planning across major equipment and platforms. It will also enable the adoption of future productivity-enhancing technologies, making sure the UK’s Armed Forces stay at forefront of defence innovation and capability. 08 Oct 25. The NATO Cooperative Cyber Defence Centre of Excellence (CCDCOE) has selected Oracle and its partner Druid Software for war gaming and cyber defence exercises. Under the contract, Oracle and its partner will design, deploy, and secure private 5G networks to support NATO’s research, war gaming, and development efforts. These networks will facilitate “high-performance connectivity” for conducting cyber defence exercises aimed at safeguarding critical infrastructure from potential external threats. 09 Oct 25. MilDef secures 52MSEK contract with L3Harris for deployment of armoured vehicle IT systems to NATO partner. MilDef has received a 52MSEK contract from L3Harris Technologies, a US-based defense company, in support of an armoured vehicle program to a NATO partner. The contract represents MilDef’s single largest US delivery of rugged 19”/2 information technology (IT) products. MilDef will provide customized servers, Cisco-based routers and fiber switches to meet L3Harris’ requirements for the armoured vehicle communications system.

 

07 Oct 25. Poland contracts PGZ-Narew consortium for passive location systems for air defence. Poland’s Armaments Agency has signed a contract with a PGZ-Narew consortium for the delivery of 28 sets of passive location systems (PLSs) with an option for 18 further sets in the future, the country’s Ministry of National Defence announced on 2 September. The contract (including the option) is for PLN5.7bn (USD1.6bn). The value of 28 PLSs from the basic order is PLN3.9bn. The passive coherent location (PCL) sensors are expected to be delivered with Narew short-range air defence (SHORAD) batteries in 2030–38 as a part of Poland’s planned integrated, multilayer air-defence system. The consortium of PGZ subsidiaries behind the system includes Huta Stalowa Wola, Pit-Radwar, PCO, Jelcz, Mesko, Ośrodek Badawczo-Rozwojowy Centrum Techniki Morskiej, Wojskowe Zakłady Łączności Nr 1, Wojskowe Zakłady Uzbrojenia, Wojskowe Zakłady Elektroniczne, and Zakłady Mechaniczne Tarnów. 09 Oct 25. Raytheon, an RTX business, has been chosen by the German government to supply its SPY-6(V)1 radar system for installation on eight F127-class frigates, under a proposed foreign military sales contract with the U.S. Navy. The deal would make Germany the first international customer for Raytheon’s SPY-6 radar, the cornerstone of the U.S. Navy’s next-generation air and missile defense capability. According to the company, the contract includes comprehensive support and services to integrate the radar into the F127’s design, adapting the system to meet the operational requirements of the German Navy. 09 Oct 25. ArianeGgroup and Sabca Sign Major Supply Contract for Ariane 6 Operational Phase. On Monday October 6, in Brussels, ArianeGroup and Sabca signed a new supply contract for the Ariane 6 operational phase, to secure Europe’s access to space in the years ahead. The agreement covers the supply of nozzle activation systems for the main engines that will equip the main and upper stages of Ariane 6 flight models from 16 to 42.
The Franco-German space technologies leader ArianeGroup has selected its key industrial partner in Belgium to support the industrial ramp-up of Europe’s new heavy-lift launcher. This renewed collaboration builds on a long-standing partnership between ArianeGroup and Sabca, the Brussels-based aerospace supplier that has already played a major role in previous Ariane programme. 06 Oct 25. Embraer – The Kingdom of Sweden acquired today four C-390 Millennium multi-mission aircraft from Embraer (NYSE: ERJ/B3: EMBR3). The contract also includes seven additional purchase options, paving the way for future acquisitions by other European nations. This important milestone for defense in Europe is part of a broader trilateral partnership between Austria, Sweden, and the Netherlands, aimed at fostering joint procurement, interoperability, and long-term cooperation around the C-390 Millennium platform. The seven options signed under this framework reflect growing European interest in this next generation aircraft and a shared commitment to modernizing tactical airlift capabilities across the continent.

 

29 Sep 25.  RTX – The State Department has made a determination approving a possible Foreign Military Sale to the Government of Germany of AIM-120D-3 Advanced Medium Range Air-to-Air Missiles and related equipment for an estimated cost of $1.23bn. The Defense Security Cooperation Agency delivered the required certification notifying Congress. The Government of Germany has requested to buy up to four hundred (400) AIM-120D-3 Advanced Medium Range Air-to-Air Missiles (AMRAAM); up to twelve (12) AIM-120D-3 AMRAAM guidance sections, including precise positioning provided by either Selective Availability Anti-Spoofing Module or M-Code; and one (1) AIM-120 AMRAAM Integrated Test Vehicle. The following non-Major Defense Equipment items will also be included: AMRAAM telemetry kits, control sections, containers, and support equipment; ADU-891 Adaptor Group Test sets; KGV-135A encryption devices; spare parts, consumables and accessories, and repair and return support; weapons system support and software; classified and unclassified software delivery and support; classified and unclassified publications and technical documentation; personnel training and training equipment; US Government and contractor engineering, technical, and logistics support services; and other related elements of logistics and programme support. The estimated total cost is $1.23bn. This proposed sale will support the foreign policy goals and national security objectives of the United States by improving the security of a NATO Ally that is a force for political stability and economic progress in Europe. The proposed sale will improve Germany’s capability to meet current and future threats by providing increased air-to-air capability for the German F-35 programme and supporting German and shared NATO planning, training, and operational requirements. Germany will have no difficulty absorbing these articles into its armed forces. The proposed sale of this equipment and support will not alter the basic military balance in the region. The principal contractor will be RTX Corporation, located in Arlington, VA. At this time, the US Government is not aware of any offset agreement proposed in connection with this potential sale. 09 Oct 25. FN Wins US Army Development Contract for Precision Grenadier System. FN America, LLC announced that it has been awarded a Prototype Project Opportunity Notice (PPON) contract valued at $2 m, by the U.S. Army to further develop its submission for the Precision Grenadier System, a next-generation primary soldier weapon system and family of ammunition that enables precision engagements to destroy targets with increased lethality and precision compared to legacy grenade launchers.
The FN Multi-purpose Tactical Launcher 30mm (MTL-30) that was designed in the U.S. and will be manufactured by FN America at its plant in South Carolina is a soldier-portable, semi-automatic, medium-velocity, flat trajectory grenade launcher that enables warfighters to engage targets at extended ranges with more effective payloads over existing technologies. After extensive testing, FN’s solution has successfully met the DoD’s key performance criteria while also delivering desired characteristics. In addition, the FN solution is easily manufacturable and logistically supportable due to state-of-the-art manufacturing techniques, ensuring the program will be cost-effective. The U.S. Army has selected L3Harris Technologies’ (NYSE: LHX) software-defined data devices to support the Next Generation Command and Control (NGC2) transport layer requirements with a $24 m award. The company will deliver the new AN/PRC-158C NGC2 Gateway Manpack to the Army’s 4th Infantry Division in advance of their scheduled participation in Project Convergence 2026. The L3Harris data device meets the demands for high-data throughput to enable the data fabric for NGC2. 07 Oct 25. Mack Defense announced it has received an initial order for 86 M917A3 Heavy Dump Trucks (HDTs) from the U.S. Army as part of a new five-year contract awarded June 24, 2025, for up to 450 trucks with value up to $221.8 m. This order is the first under the new contract and follows the successful completion of Mack Defense’s original seven-year contract awarded in 2018.

 

05 Oct 25. SCD, a global leader in defense technology specializing in the development and manufacture of a wide range of cooled and uncooled infrared detectors and high-power laser diodes, announces a new order from a North American customer for approximately 1,000 Sparrow MWIR detectors to be integrated in airborne payloads for critical tactical and homeland security missions.

09 Oct 25. Kratos Awarded Phase 1 for AN/SPY-1 Organic Sustainment Capability for the US Navy. Kratos Defense & Security Solutions, Inc. (Nasdaq: KTOS), a technology company in defense, national security, and global markets, announced today that it has been awarded Phase 1 to begin developing an organic sustainment capability for the U.S. Navy’s AN/SPY-1 radar systems. 08 Oct 25. Boeing –  In a deal worth more than $173m, the U.S. Air Force has awarded Boeing [NYSE: BA] a contract to produce eight more MH-139A Grey Wolf helicopters and provide training and sustainment support services.
Following a $178m award for seven aircraft last April, this new order raises the total number under contract to 34 and includes the first set of aircraft anticipated for deployment to Minot Air Force Base (AFB), North Dakota. The Air Force recently completed Initial Operational Test & Evaluation flights as the MH-139A program continues to move toward Initial Operational Capability. To date, Boeing has delivered 18 aircraft, including 12 low-rate initial production assets. Boeing completed deliveries for the first operational unit at Malmstrom AFB, Montana, this year and anticipates delivering four more aircraft to the Air Force this year.

09 Oct 25. U.S. Army Awards General Dynamics Mission Systems Contract to Deliver Initial CMFF Prototype Systems. General Dynamics Mission Systems announced today that it has been awarded an Army contract valued at $28.3m to deliver critical C5ISR/EW Modular Open Suite of Standards (CMOSS) Mounted Form Factor (CMFF) prototype systems. Peraton has received an Other Transaction Authority – Prototype (OTA-P) contract from the US Air Force (USAF) Life Cycle Management Center to develop cyber infrastructure in support of key Air Force and joint cyber operations. The project aims to deliver advanced cyber infrastructure solutions, with Peraton responsible for the design, integration, and prototyping of systems. 07 Oct 25. Cuashub.com said today that Axiscades to supply Indian Army with counter-drone systems. The Indian Army has chosen Axiscades Technologies to deliver 12 portable systems that can detect and stop drones. The deal was made under the Ministry of Defence’s emergency purchase rules, which allow faster delivery when needed. These systems can spot drones from up to five kilometres away. They also block signals across different frequencies, making it harder for drones to fly or send data. Although the cost of the deal hasn’t been shared, it’s seen as a strong show of support for home-grown defence technology. “This order reflects the Indian Army’s trust in Axiscades to deliver next-generation indigenous counter-drone technologies. We are committed to supporting India’s defence forces with advanced, mission-ready, made in India solutions that strengthen operational readiness and self-reliance,” said Sharadhi Chandra Babu, President of Defence at Axiscades.
India has been working harder to improve its ability to deal with drones, especially after reports of drones being used for spying and smuggling weapons near the border with Pakistan. The rise in use of commercial drones for military tasks has made this a bigger concern.
This contract is part of a wider push to improve India’s drone-related tools, both for attack and defence. Over the past year, the military has tested loitering drones, long-range UAVs, and several anti-drone systems made by Indian companies. The move also supports the government’s “Atmanirbhar Bharat” plan, which aims to make India more self-reliant in defence. By working with local firms like Axiscades, the country hopes to meet urgent needs while building up its own defence industry.

Electro Optic Systems Holdings Limited (EOS) has been awarded a contract to supply Remote Weapon Systems (RWS) for the Australian Defence Force’s (ADF) LAND 400 Phase 3 Infantry Fighting Vehicle (IFV) program. The multi-year contract, valued at $108 m, was awarded by Hanwha Defence Australia (HDA), the prime contractor to the ADF on LAND 400-3. The order includes the delivery of RWS, spare parts, training, and documentation. Under the agreement, EOS will deliver an enhanced R400 RWS, purpose-built to meet the Australian Army’s operational requirements and fully integrated with the AS21 Redback IFV. Manufacturing of the RWS will be undertaken at EOS’ facility in Canberra, drawing on a well-established national supply chain of more than 100 Australian companies.

 

08 Oct 25. The State Department has made a determination approving a possible Foreign Military Sale to the Government of Canada of M142 High Mobility Artillery Rocket Systems and related equipment for an estimated cost of $1.75bn. The Defense Security Cooperation Agency delivered the required certification notifying Congress. The Government of Canada has requested to buy twenty-six (26) M142 High Mobility Artillery Rocket Systems (HIMARS); one hundred thirty-two (132) M31A2 Guided Multiple Launch Rocket System (GMLRS) Unitary pods with Insensitive Munitions Propulsion System (IMPS); one hundred thirty-two (132) M30A2 GMLRS Alternative Warhead (AW) pods with IMPS; thirty-two (32) M403 Extended Range (ER) GMLRS AW pods with IMPS; thirty-two (32) M404 ER GMLRS Unitary pods with IMPS; and sixty-four (64) M57 Army Tactical Missile System (ATACMS) pods. The following non-MDE items will be included: Low Cost Reduced Range Practice Rocket pods; interactive electronic technical manuals; integration support services; spare parts; tool kits; test equipment; contractor logistics support; training; training equipment; technical assistance; technical publications; transportation; Type 1 radios (AN/PRC-160 and AN/PRC-167); 7800I intercom equipment; Simple Key Loaders (SKL); U.S. Government and contractor technical, engineering, and logistics personnel services; and other related elements of logistics and program support. The estimated total cost is $1.75bn. The State Department has made a determination approving a possible Foreign Military Sale to the Republic of Korea of AGM-65G2 Maverick Tactical Missiles and related equipment for an estimated cost of $34 m. The Defense Security Cooperation Agency delivered the required certification notifying Congress of this possible sale today. The Republic of Korea has requested to buy forty-four (44) AGM-65G2 Maverick tactical missiles. The following non-Major Defense Equipment items will be included: U.S. Government and contractor engineering; technical, and logistics support services; and other related elements of logistics and program support. The estimated total cost is $34m. This proposed sale will support the foreign policy and national security objectives of the United States by improving the security of a major ally that is an important force for political stability and economic progress in the Indo-Pacific region.
This proposed sale will improve the Republic of Korea’s capability to meet current and future threats by increasing its critical air defense capability to deter aggression in the region and to ensure interoperability with U.S. forces. The Republic of Korea already has Maverick missiles in its inventory and will have no difficulty absorbing these articles into its armed forces. The proposed sale of this equipment and support will not alter the basic military balance in the region.
The principal contractor will be RTX Corporation, located in Arlington, VA. The purchaser typically requests offsets. At this time, the U.S. Government is not aware of any offset agreement proposed in connection with this potential sale. Any offset agreement will be defined in negotiations between the purchaser and the contractor
Implementation of this proposed sale will not require the assignment of any additional U.S. Government or contractor representatives to the Republic of Korea. There will be no adverse impact on U.S. defense readiness as a result of this proposed sale. The description and dollar value are for the highest estimated quantity and dollar value based on initial requirements.
