10 Jul 25. Metis, specialists in providing innovative technologies to detect a wide range of Radio Frequency (RF) threats across diverse sectors, has won a contract to supply a number of Skyperion drone detection systems to a NATO customer to provide the drone detect function as part of an integrated Counter Uncrewed Air Systems (C-UAS) capability.  This purchase bolsters the customer’s current capabilities helping safeguard their airspace, key installations and critical infrastructure against the threats posed by rogue drones and is the fourth NATO ally to purchase Skyperion. Metis is an ideal choice for the RF drone detect component because not only do they produce technically superior RF detect products, but they also design and manufacture modular systems with an open architecture, enabling seamless integration with other electronic warfare capabilities and systems.  This allows sovereign nations, large primes or systems integrators to easily incorporate Metis products with other best in class technologies, to deliver world leading detection, tracking, identification and defeat of rogue drones.

10 Jul 25. GKN Aerospace secures multi-year follow-on contract with BAE Systems for Typhoon transparencies. Under this contract, GKN Aerospace will continue to support the sustainment of the Typhoon fleet by ensuring the ongoing delivery of transparencies to the international customers. This agreement also guarantees uninterrupted production at the Luton facility, providing long-term stability to the order book well into the next decade.

07 Jul 25. The Lithuanian Ministry of Defence (MoD) has bolstered military inventory with a shipment of additional Grom air defence missiles, as part of efforts to modernise its armed forces. This procurement is via a €28m ($32.8m) contract signed with Polish defence manufacturer Mesko, a subsidiary of the Polish Armament Group (PGZ), in 2023. (Source: army-technology.com)

 

04 Jul 25. Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace orders MilDefs ruggedized IT-equipment, worth SEK225m. Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace turn to MilDef for deliveries of ruggedized IT-equipment for increased digitalization capabilities. MilDef will deliver ruggedized hardware worth SEK225m and deliveries will start in 2026. Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace is Norway’s premier supplier of defence products and systems for command and control, surveillance, space, tactical communications, remote weapon stations and missiles systems.  MilDef have a long-standing relationship with Kongsberg delivering ruggedized IT-solutions such as computer, switches, servers and displays to different platforms in the Kongsberg offering. 09 Jul 25. Rheinmetall Denel Munition – the Swedish Defence Materiel Administration (FMV) has finalised two artillery ammunitions contracts with Nammo and Rheinmetall Denel Munition. The deal worth a total of more than Skr5bn ($525.2m) is claimed to be the largest investment in artillery ammunition in Sweden since the 1980s. (Source: army-technology.com)

02 Jul 25. France’s Naval Group has chosen Exail to deliver advanced navigation systems for the Hellenic Navy’s next-generation Defence and Intervention Frigates (FDI). The agreement will see Exail equip the frigate with the Marins inertial navigation system (INS), Netans data distribution unit (DDU), and Gecdis-W warship electronic chart display and information system (WECDIS). 09 Jul 25. Airbus Defence and Space has been selected as prime contractor for the development and manufacture of two new PAZ-2 radar satellites, securing continuity of the current Earth observation PAZ satellite, in service since 2018. The programme, led by Hisdesat for the Spanish Ministry of Defence, represents a key milestone for the Spanish space industry since around 65% of the satellites’ content will be developed by Spanish industry, led by Airbus. The PAZ-2 satellites, among the most advanced in the world, will be more capable than their predecessor, significantly improving the image quality and resolution to better than 25 centimetres, while increasing the coverage up to 6.7 m km² per day and satellite, and orbiting the Earth 16 times daily. These improvements will strengthen the intelligence and surveillance capabilities of the Spanish Armed Forces, as well as civilian applications in infrastructure monitoring, risk management, border control and disaster assessment, capturing radar imagery 24 hours a day and in all weather conditions.

 

09 Jul 25. Harmattan AI – France Orders 1,000 AI-Enabled Combat Drones. On June 30, 2025, the DGA (Direction générale de l’armement – the French Government defence procurement and technology agency) notified Harmattan AI, the company that won the European tender, of a contract to acquire combat drones aimed at strengthening the army’s equipment. The notification of this contract is accompanied by an order for 1,000 drones that will be delivered before the end of 2025, with priority given to units taking part in the Orion 2026 exercise. They will also be used in the training and operational preparation of combatants. Designed and assembled in France, these Sonora quadcopter micro-drones are equipped with an electro-optical camera. 09 Jul 25. Shield AI, the deep-tech company building state-of-the-art autonomy software products and defense aircraft, today announced that the Netherlands Ministry of Defence has procured eight V-BAT unmanned aircraft systems to enhance maritime intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR) operations for the Royal Netherlands Navy and Marine Corps. The deal was publicly announced at the Maritime Uncrewed event hosted by the Royal Netherlands Navy in Den Helder, where officials highlighted the V-BAT acquisition as part of a broader effort to modernize the force. The decision to procure V-BAT reflects a decisive and focused push to field battle-proven, autonomy-enabled systems capable of operating in contested environments and without reliance on GNSS for navigation or mission execution. 11 Jul 25.  Airbus – The French Directorate General of Armaments (DGA) has signed with Airbus Defence and Space and launched a framework contract for the training and education of all cybersecurity experts at the Ministry of the Armed Forces, including cyber warriors in the armed forces. The eight-year contract, led by Airbus Defence and Space and its co-contractor Neverhack, covers the development, production and operational maintenance of training platforms, as well as the provision of training and coaching services, including the development of operational cyber defence scenarios. In particular, it will equip the Cyber Defence Academy of the Cyber Defence Command (COMCYBER) in the Rennes region with a cyber defence training centre. This centre will contribute to the operational preparation of cyber warriors through specific training courses dedicated to different cyber specialists. Cyber training for personnel and organisations aims to increase the pool of cybersecurity experts and strengthen the cyber defence techniques of the armed forces, as well as their effectiveness and operational maturity. The platforms will enable the simulation of attack-defence scenarios in the context of military operations on the digital battlefield, as well as in large-scale exercises at national, joint or multinational level, such as Orion or DefNet.

 

08 Jul 25. MilDef has signed an agreement with the Swedish Defense Materiel Administration (FMV) regarding command and control systems for increased NATO interoperability and connectivity for the Swedish Army. The solution consists of MilDef’s OneCIS software, hardware, and integration services. The agreement is initially worth SEK 139 m, with deliveries beginning in 2025. Depending on the outcome of options, the total value may amount to SEK 203 m. MilDef has been supplying tactical IT to FMV since 1997. The latest order concerns the introduction of MilDef’s software in the Swedish Army, a solution that is already in operational use in several Nordic countries and the Swedish Navy. Based on the OneCIS installation software, it enables efficient and secure communication at all necessary levels between cooperating units in the NATO system.

01 Jul 25. FN America, LLC has been awarded a $4.9m contract to supply the US Army with additional FN M240L medium machine guns. The M240L was originally adopted by the US Army in 2010, after a joint development effort with FN to create a lighter, yet durable, medium machine gun. The M240L has been the cutting-edge for lightweight medium machine guns with an overall weight reduction of five pounds from its predecessor, the FN M240B, without any impact to performance or longevity. The 18 percent weight reduction was achieved by incorporating titanium into the design, including the receiver, and introducing new manufacturing methods to adjust for the material properties. 03 Jul 25. MyDefence receives USD26m C-UAS order from US Army. MyDefence has been awarded a contract from the U.S. Army valued at USD 26 m, the largest in the company’s history. Under the contract, MyDefence will supply its counter-uncrewed aerial system (C-UAS) technologies designed to detect and track a broad spectrum of drone threats. The company manufactures a range of wearable, vehicle-mounted and perimeter systems to detect and neutralise drones. A video accompanying the new contract press release shows the company’s wearable C-UAS systems being built. 30 Jun 25. Axient selected for USSF STEP 2.0 contract to accelerate military space innovation. Astrion, through its legacy company Axient LLC, was selected earlier this month by the U.S. Space Force (USSF) as one of 12 awardees on the Space Test Experiments (STEP) 2.0 program. STEP 2.0, a 10-year, multi-award Indefinite Delivery/Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) contract worth up to $237 m, aims to advance military space technology, reduce costs, and streamline processes by harnessing the latest in commercial innovation. Astrion and the other contract awardees will bid on task orders to build modular satellites and integrate them with various experimental payloads, enabling USSF to conduct tests on emerging technologies on-orbit. 09 Jul 25. Bell Textron Inc., a Textron Inc. (NYSE: TXT) company, has been down-selected for Phase 2 of Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) Speed and Runway Independent Technologies (SPRINT) X-Plane program with the objective to complete design, construction, ground testing and certification of an X-plane demonstrator. The goal of the program is to provide these aircraft with the ability to cruise at speeds from 400 to 450 knots at relevant altitudes and hover in austere environments from unprepared surfaces. In Phase 1A and 1B, Bell completed conceptual and preliminary design efforts for the SPRINT X-plane. Phase 2 includes detailed design and build culminating in flight test during Phase 3. In preparation for X-plane development, Bell has completed significant risk reduction activities including demonstrating folding rotor, integrated propulsion, and flight control technologies at Holloman Air Force Base as well as wind tunnel testing at the National Institute for Aviation Research (NIAR) at Wichita State University. Bell has a rich history of breaking barriers and high-speed vertical lift technology development, pioneering innovative VTOL configurations like the X-14, X-22, XV-3 and XV-15 for NASA, the U.S. Army and U.S. Air Force, and continues to build on the legacy of the Bell X-1.

04 Jul 25. BAE to Develop AI-Powered Software to Improve Battlefield Medical Care for Warfighters. The Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) has selected BAE Systems to continue development and support deployment of the Battlefield Assisted Trauma Distributed Operations Kit (BATDOK®) through the new Force Optimization through Rapid-prototyping, Gear Enhancements & Innovative Technology (FORGE-IT) program. Together, BATDOK® and FORGE-IT will improve and modernize the capabilities of warfighters to provide medical care for wounded servicemembers on the battlefield and ensure they receive proper treatment into long-term care. BATDOK® is an AFRL application developed with the support of BAE Systems that creates a complete and reliable record of injuries and treatments from the point of injury through recovery. Traditionally, medical care administered on the battlefield is only recorded on paper. BATDOK® records medical care electronically, ensuring the details of a patient’s injury and field treatment are seamlessly transferred to the nurses and doctors providing ongoing care. 10 Jul 25. D-Fend Solutions’ EnforceAir RF cyber-based counter-drone solution has been implemented by the state security service and aviation safety department of an Asian country. Unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) pose growing threats within the country, such as unauthorized surveillance and photography of government buildings, military installations, and major events, which risks leaking confidential information and compromising national security. 09 Jul 25. DroneShield (ASX:DRO) has received a package of three standalone contracts for its handheld and on-the-move counter-drone systems. The contract sum is $9.7m, with DroneShield’s privately owned in-country reseller that is contractually required to distribute the products to a defence end customer in a LATAM country. DroneShield expects to deliver all equipment throughout Q3 and Q4 2025, with cash payment expected in Q3 and Q4 2025. No additional material conditions need to be satisfied. DroneShield has previously received two standalone contracts from this reseller for this defence customer in December 2024 and January 2025 totalling approximately $10.8 m, with all imports, deliveries, and payments handled on-time and in a highly professional manner. There is no obligation for any additional contracts from this reseller or the customer.

 

07 Jul 25. Thales contributes to strengthening Malaysian air sovereignty with two additional Ground Master 400 alpha long-range air surveillance radars. During the Malaysian Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar bin Ibrahim’s state visit to France, Thales has received the official Letter of Award (LOA) to provide two additional Ground Master 400 alpha (GM400α) radars to reinforce the country’s situational awareness. These additional radars will bring the total number of GM400 to 4 in the country, showing Malaysia’s renewal of trust in Thales’ radar technology. Recognised worldwide for its technological superiority and high mobility, the GM400α has been deployed by more than 20 nations. These two radars will enhance air surveillance capabilities for the Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF), being able to detect all types of threats with a 515 Km range.  Thales has been present in Malaysia for over 40 years, in both the civilian and military sectors. Malaysia was the first customer to order the GM400 radar. Aligned with its strategy to strengthen local industrial capabilities, Thales will partner with Malaysian enterprise Weststar Group to install and deploy the radars in line with the terrain and operational requirements of the RMAF (Royal Malaysian Air Force), in Peninsular and Eastern Malaysia. Through Industrial Cooperation Programmes (ICPs), Thales will provide maintenance and support of GM400α radars throughout their lifecycle, in close proximity to the RMAF. Thales will also embark on knowledge transfer and on-ground training to build Malaysia’s future generations of radar experts.

Maxar Intelligence, the leading provider of secure, precise geospatial insights, today announced three new multi-year strategic contracts totaling $204.7m that will help accelerate sovereign defense and intelligence capabilities and space leadership across the Middle East and Africa (MEA). The contracts, which expand on Maxar’s two decades-long leadership in the region, are built around Maxar’s Direct Access Program (DAP) offering. The MEA customers will have direct access to Maxar’s industry-leading satellite constellation and geospatial intelligence products, including very high-resolution satellite imagery, 3D terrain data and advanced analytics for persistent monitoring in near real-time. 09 Jul 25. Cuashub.com said today that CERBAIR signs Letter of Intent to acquire 30 Indian-made C-AUS systems. France-based counter-UAS company CERBAIR has signed a Letter of Intent to purchase up to 30 CHIMERA 200 systems from India’s Paras Anti Drone Technologies Pvt Ltd, a subsidiary of Paras Defence and Space Technologies Ltd. The deal is valued at approximately ₹22 crore (roughly $2.6m), and marks a potential step forward for India’s ambitions to become a global exporter of advanced defense technologies. The CHIMERA 200 is a man-portable radio frequency (RF) detection and neutralization device designed to counter single and swarm drone threats. According to Paras, the system is already in use across critical infrastructure sites in India and is positioned for international deployment. The announcement comes amid India’s ongoing efforts to expand defense exports under the country’s “Make in India” and Defence Production and Export Promotion Policy (DPEPP), which aims to achieve $5bn in annual defense exports by 2025. Paras describes the CHIMERA 200 as a modular and upgradeable system capable of detecting and neutralizing signals across a wide RF spectrum, from 400 MHz to 6 GHz. The system supports both omnidirectional and directional operations and is intended to integrate with command-and-control systems and other weapons platforms via a secure API. 09 Jul 25.  Saab – Gripen E triumphs over F-16 and Rafale as Peru commits to $3.5bn fighter jet deal. Peru is set to acquire 24 Saab Gripen E multirole fighter jets for $3.5bn, according to local outlet Perú21. The deal includes additional support packages and marks a significant step in modernising the country’s ageing air force. The Swedish-made Gripen E reportedly outperformed competing offers from the Rafale and F-16 Block 70. The contract may be signed on 10 July during a visit to Lima by Sweden’s Defence Minister Pål Jonson, who will meet with his Peruvian counterpart Walter Astudillo. The planned purchase is expected to launch a new chapter of Swedish-Peruvian defence cooperation.
