01 Jul 25. ZeroAvia has announced the UK Government has awarded the company and consortium partners a grant towards a £10.8m project to develop a novel liquid hydrogen management system. The project, co-funded through the ATI Programme, will culminate in integration of the lightweight fuel system into a Dornier 228 before a series of flight tests. The Liquid Hydrogen System Integration & Flight Test (LH-SIFT) project will rapidly develop a Liquid Hydrogen Management System (LHMS) and create an adaptable flight testbed capability. The testbed capability will benefit UK and global LH2 supply chains in maturing liquid hydrogen technologies faster. The LH2 management system developed as part of LH-SIFT is comprised of a novel lightweight metallic tank design and supporting systems for filling and managing storage and distribution. Consortium partners Green Resource Engineering and Gas & Liquid Controls will collaborate with ZeroAvia on fill, feed, vent and vaporiser systems. The project will also establish the world’s first liquid hydrogen flying commercial airframe testbed, providing unique opportunities for later projects to develop and test cryogenic aviation fuel system components in flight, building strong UK leadership in this area. 03 Jul 25. Rheinmetall wins major order for artillery ammunition – order value in the hundreds of millions of euros. A European NATO country has signed a multi-year contract with Rheinmetall’s subsidiary Rheinmetall Denel Munition (RF) Pty Ltd (RDM) in South Africa for the delivery of 155 mm projectiles from the Assegai family and bimodular propelling charges. The order was booked in the second quarter of 2025 and is worth several hundred m euros. Deliveries will begin in 2025 and conclude with final delivery in 2027. The order is the largest in the history of Rheinmetall Denel Munition. The Rheinmetall Assegai 155mm projectiles and bi-modular propelling charges will be integrated into the customer’s artillery weapon systems, delivering range capability of more than 40,000m with optimal performance in the target area.

 

03 Jul 25. Saab has received an order from the Swedish Defence Materiel Administration (FMV) for the mobile short-range air defence solution RBS 70 NG with missiles. The order value is approximately SEK 1.5bn and deliveries are scheduled 2027-2028. This order was booked in Q2 2025. The order also includes equipment which will enable the Swedish Armed Forces to integrate the system on a Mobile Short-Range Air Defence (MSHORAD) solution in the future.

01 Jul 25. Exail has secured a strategic defense contract with a European nation for the delivery of a fleet of five DriX H-8 Uncrewed Surface Vehicles (USVs). This contract marks a major milestone in the operational deployment of DriX (standard version) for ISR missions. It is the largest order to date for Exail’s DriX platform and reflects the growing adoption of uncrewed surface systems by naval and maritime security forces. It also underscores the shift towards integrating mature, autonomous platforms into modern ISR. Originally developed for hydrographic missions, the DriX H-8 USV is a proven, mature platform designed to operate in both shallow and deep waters. Its versatility enables it to execute a wide range of maritime missions, both civilian and military. The platform has already been trusted by major naval forces including the U.S. Navy and the French Navy and has demonstrated robust performance during key multinational operations such as NATO’s REPMUS or Task Force X exercises. (Source: ASD Network)

 

04 Jul 25. Saab has received an order from the Swedish Defence Materiel Administration for 22 combat boats. The order value is approximately 900 MSEK. The order was booked in Q2 2025. Saab’s combat boats are advanced platforms that can be used for many different types of missions. They are manufactured by Saab’s shipyard in Docksta. Deliveries will be made continuously over the coming years.

 

30 Jun 25. TKMS has signed one of the largest service contracts in the company’s history with the Federal Office of Bundeswehr Equipment, Information Technology and In-Service Support (BAAINBw). The official signing of the contract took place today in Koblenz. As prime contractor, TKMS will provide comprehensive modernization and support services for the six German Type 212A submarines. The order spans a total volume of more than €800m and will have a term of ten years. The contract provides for the modernization of core systems on board the boats, in particular the navigation system and the command and weapons control system on the four older boats of the first batch. The objective is to secure the technological superiority of the German submarine fleet over the long term, in order to meet future challenges in national and alliance defense in a targeted manner. 27 Jun 25. ICEYE, the European leader in new defense technology and the global leader in Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) satellite operations, and the Finnish Ministry of Defense have signed a Letter of Intent that enables the Finnish Defense Forces to acquire ICEYE SAR satellites. The cooperation aims to enhance the Defense Forces’ intelligence and surveillance capabilities from space.  The agreement outlines a preliminary delivery plan and timeline. It also encompasses the technical solutions and systems needed to establish an autonomous national capability for space-based surveillance. Data from these satellites will support real-time situational awareness for Finland’s national leadership and relevant authorities.

30 Jun 25. US Navy awards Coherent a USD29.9m contract to develop a 400kW laser weapon. The US Office of Naval Research has awarded Coherent Aerospace and Defense USD29.9m for directed energy weapons research as part of the SONGBOW project. The initial development phase will run for 20 months, but with options to continue the programme through 2027, SONGBOW envisages the development and deployment of a 400-kilowatt laser, which will require combining multiple 50-kilowatt pulsed fibre laser modules into a single, coherent beam. Laser targeting will be via an advanced beam control system that ensures accurate targeting even at long distances or during fast-moving engagements. 30 Jun 25. General Dynamics Land Systems Inc., Sterling Heights, Michigan, was awarded a $150,000,000 cost-plus-fixed-fee, cost-plus-incentive-fee contract for the Abrams Engineering Program. Bids were solicited via the internet with one received. Work will be performed in Sterling Heights, Michigan, with an estimated completion date of June 30, 2027. Fiscal 2025 research, development, test and evaluation, Army funds in the amount of $150,000,000 were obligated at the time of the award. Army Contracting Command, Detroit Arsenal, Michigan, is the contracting activity (W912CH-25-C-0055).

 

27 Jun 25. General Dynamics Information Technology (GDIT), a business unit of General Dynamics (NYSE: GD), announced today that it was awarded a $580m Integrated Base Defense Sustainment Support task order to continue enhancing the security and readiness of U.S. Army bases. The task order, awarded in May, includes a one-year base period and four option years. Under the task order, GDIT will sustain force protections systems such as radars, cameras and sensors across the globe, including in the most austere and high-threat locations. These security systems are critical to protecting installations, personnel and infrastructure from a range of potential threats, including unauthorized access, surveillance, drone activity and cyberattacks. GDIT will provide continued operational availability of these vital systems, ensuring they remain mission-ready at all times. Oshkosh Defense LLC, an Oshkosh Corporation [NYSE: OSK] business, has received orders from the U.S. Army valued at $167m for 225 trucks and 54 trailers under the Family of Heavy Tactical Vehicles contract. These orders reflect continued momentum for Oshkosh’s heavy tactical vehicle portfolio and reinforce the company’s role in supporting the Army’s long-term modernization strategy. The vehicles will support multiple U.S. Army customers, including the National Guard, Reserve, and the Program Executive Office Missiles & Space (PEO MS) for the Indirect Fire Protection Capability (IFPC) system. The order includes HEMTT A4 variants and the autonomous-ready Palletized Load System (PLS) A2, positioning modernized Oshkosh platforms for integration with next-generation defense technologies. The Boeing Co., St. Louis, Missouri, is awarded a $61,175,927 firm-fixed-price, cost-plus-fixed-fee and cost modification to previously awarded contract (N00024-22-C-6407) to exercise options for the production of High Altitude Anti-Submarine warfare weapon capability air launch accessory equipment, production support material, and related engineering and hardware support. The contract modification also establishes the value of contract options in the amount of $160,862,279 which, if exercised, would bring the cumulative value of this contract to $349,151,128. Work will be performed in St. Charles, Missouri (77%); Salt Lake City, Utah (11%); St. Louis, Missouri (6%); Minneapolis, Minnesota (2%); Joplin, Missouri (2%); Chandler, Arizona (1%); and Piedmont, Missouri (1%), and is expected to be completed by January 2028. Fiscal 2025 weapons procurement (Navy) funds in the amount of $16,108,655 (36%); fiscal 2024 weapons procurement (Navy) funds in the amount of $14,341,444 (32%); fiscal 2024 research development test and evaluation (Navy) funds in the amount of $12,837,747 (29%); and fiscal 2023 weapons procurement (Navy) funds in the amount of $1,506,238 (3%), will be obligated at the time of award; and funds in the amount of $14,343,985 will expire at the end of the fiscal year. 02 Jul 25. General Dynamics Electric Boat, a business unit of General Dynamics (NYSE: GD), announced today that it was awarded a $1.85bn contract modification to a previously awarded contract supporting submarine production. Lockheed Martin Rotary and Mission Systems (LM RMS), Moorestown, New Jersey, is being awarded a sole-source, 10-year indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract with a ceiling of $2,968,000,000. Under this follow-on contract, LM RMS will provide continuation of the Aegis Ballistic Missile Defense (BMD) Combat Systems Engineering Agent (CSEA) in order to maintain operational relevancy in support of the Missile Defense System. The Aegis BMD CSEA is the responsible Aegis BMD Weapon System design, development, integration, sustainment, and computer program source for Aegis cruisers, guided-missile destroyers, Aegis ashore variants, Aegis Guam System, and Glide Phase Intercept. LM RMS will provide execution of future studies, concepts, and computer program development to achieve capability improvements across all phases of the fire control loop (plan, detect, control, engage, and assess) in accordance with government provided interface requirements that can be delivered to the CSEA or other government designated agents for integration into the Common Source Library, and/or Integrated Combat Systems software architecture (e.g., advanced discrimination to counter advanced threats, closure of potential missile defense gaps, and enhanced defense against adversary advanced threats, improved single-ship performance of current dual tier engagement schemes, expansion to incorporate multi-tier weapons, and integration of advancements in Tactical Data Link architectures) The anticipated period of performance is July 2025 to June 2035. Research, development, test and evaluation; defense wide procurement; and operations and maintenance funds, will be utilized to execute the proposed scope. Textron Systems Corp., New Orleans, Louisiana, was awarded a $353,961,249 fixed price incentive-firm target contract modification to previously awarded contract (N00024-23-C-2452) to exercise the option for the construction of three Ship to Shore Connector Landing Craft air cushion 100 class craft. Work will be performed in New Orleans, Louisiana (66%); Pasadena, California (11%); Cincinnati, Ohio (7%); Gloucester, United Kingdom (4%); other locations (3%); Hunt Valley, Maryland (1%); Huntsville, Alabama (1%); Russellville, Arizona (1%); Stamford, Connecticut (1%); West Palm Beach, Florida (1%); Riverdale, Iowa (1%); Chanhassen, Minnesota (1%); Gold Beach, Oregon (1%); and Chesapeake, Virginia (1%),and is expected to be completed by July 2031. The Boeing Co., El Segundo, California, was awarded a $2,838,537,105 cost-plus-incentive-award-fee contract for Evolved Strategic Satellite (ESS) communications space development and production. This contract provides for the development and production of four ESS space vehicles. Work will be performed at El Segundo, California, and is expected to be completed by Dec. 31, 2033.  This contract was a competitive acquisition and two offers were received. Fiscal 2025 research, development, test and evaluation funds in the amount of $100,000,000 are being obligated at the time of award. The Space Systems Command, Military Communication and Positioning, Navigation and Timing, Los Angeles Air Force Base, California, is the contracting activity (FA8807-25-C-B006).

 

27 Jun 25. Maxar Intelligence, the leading provider of secure, precise geospatial insights, announced today that it was awarded Delivery Order 01 under the Luno A program by the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA). This award is focused on delivering commercial analytic services, specifically automated AI/ML-generated object detections over many specified locations at once. Maxar is primarily identifying various classes of aircraft, ships, ground vehicles and railcars, helping NGA determine object counts at specified locations, classification of objects, identify trends and anomalies, and perform spatial and temporal geospatial intelligence analysis. 02 Jul 25. Raytheon Co., El Segundo, California, was awarded a $77,204,209 requirements contract for Miniaturized Airborne Global Positioning System Receiver (MAGR) production and sustainment. This contract provides for the repairs, production, sustainment, and engineering services relating to the MAGR-2K and 2K-M receivers. Work will be performed in El Segundo, California; and Huntsville, Alabama, and will be completed by June 30, 2031. This contract will also allow for future Foreign Military Sales to various partner nations. This contract was a sole-source acquisition. No funds will be obligated at the time of award. 02 Jul 25. US Army Awards Electra R&D Contract for Hybrid-Electric Aircraft Propulsion Systems. Electra to partner with the U.S. Army to explore the operational benefits of hybrid-electric propulsion on fuel demand, range, and new mission capabilities for current and future aircraft. Electra was awarded a $1.9m Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) contract by the U.S. Army to advance the research and development of hybrid-electric powertrain, power, and propulsion systems (HEPPS). The award enables the U.S. Army to leverage Electra’s technical leadership in developing and testing hybrid-electric propulsion systems and evaluating its potential to improve the effectiveness of current and future Army aircraft platforms. Under the agreement, Electra will conduct a comprehensive series of technology maturation and risk reduction activities for hybrid-electric propulsion related to its EL9, a nine-passenger ultra-short takeoff and landing (Ultra-STOL) aircraft currently in development. As a result, Electra will deliver valuable insights and test data to help the Army understand the benefits, trade-offs, and operational procedures associated with operating hybrid-electric propulsion systems. 02 Jul 25. Mercury Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ: MRCY, www.mrcy.com), a technology company that delivers mission-critical processing to the edge, today announced it has been selected by the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) for funding through its Industrial Base Analysis and Sustainment (IBAS) Program to develop a next-generation RF signal conditioning multi-chip package (MCP). This ultra-compact signal conditioning package will leverage Mercury expertise and innovation in microwave and mixed signal technologies to reduce the size, weight, and power requirements of these integrated assemblies by more than 80% compared to existing hardware. By leveraging state-of-the-art processes, this capability will be more producible, affordability will be improved, and high-volume missions will be enabled.

02 Jul 25. HII (NYSE: HII) announced the order from Hitachi, Ltd. (Hitachi) for more than a dozen REMUS 300 small uncrewed undersea vehicles (SUUVs) under a program that will deliver the vehicles over multi-years. HII’s REMUS 300 platform is a modular, open-architecture SUUV engineered for multi-mission adaptability and was the commercial basis for the U.S. Navy’s Lionfish program. The procurement by Hitachi builds on a long-standing relationship with Japan, an important U.S. ally in the Pacific region. 01 Jul 25.  Boeing – Israel – Munitions Guidance Kits and Munitions Support. The State Department has made a determination approving a possible Foreign Military Sale to the Government of Israel of Munitions Guidance Kits and Munitions Support and related equipment for an estimated cost of $510m. The Defense Security Cooperation Agency delivered the required certification notifying Congress. The Government of Israel has requested to buy three thousand eight hundred forty-five (3,845) KMU-558B/B Joint Direct Attack Munition (JDAM) guidance kits for the BLU-109 bomb body and three thousand two hundred eighty (3,280) KMU-572 F/B JDAM guidance kits for the MK 82 bomb body. The following non-MDE items will also be included: U.S. government and contractor engineering, logistics, and technical support services; and other related elements of logistics and program support. The estimated total cost is $510m. The principal contractor will be The Boeing Company, located in St. Charles, MO. Part of the JDAM guidance kit requirement may be transferred from U.S. government stock. At this time, the U.S. government is not aware of any offset agreement proposed in connection with this potential sale. 02 Jul 25. Terma has signed a support agreement with the Argentinian Ministry of Defense and the Argentinian Air Force, formalizing its role in the modernization and operational preparation of 24 former Royal Danish Air Force F-16 aircraft. The agreement marks a strategic milestone in Argentina’s acquisition program and confirms Terma’s continued role as a trusted supplier of advanced defense technology. Following the April 2024 sale of F-16 aircraft by the Danish Ministry of Defense Acquisition and Logistics Organisation (DALO) to Argentina – coordinated with the U.S. Government – Terma has been selected to provide key upgrades and support services related to the aircraft’s Electronic Warfare systems. These efforts are part of a broader refurbishment led by Lockheed Martin Aeronautics. Through its agreement with the Argentinian Ministry of Defense and the Argentinian Air Force (Fuerza Aérea Argentina, FAA), Terma commits to delivering software and hardware enhancements, mission planning tools, ground support equipment, and engineering assistance. These contributions are essential to ensuring the aircraft are fully mission-ready and tailored to the operational needs of the FAA.
