The Ministry of Defence has awarded a £170m contract to AirTanker Ltd for a major upgrade to the UK’s Voyager tanker aircraft fleet, aimed at resolving key obsolescence issues in its onboard systems. Known as the Voyager Operating System Evolution (VOSE), the project will deliver the design, development, certification, and through-life support of a new mission system for the RAF’s Future Strategic Tanker Aircraft (FSTA). According to the contract award notice, the upgrade includes integration of the Multifunction Information Distribution System and the Joint Tactical Radio System (MIDS/JTRS), vital components for secure communications and interoperability. 24 Jun 25. ICEYE, the global leader in Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) satellite operations for Earth Observation, announced today that it will be providing satellite data to NATO Allied Command Operations (ACO) as a key element of the Alliance Persistent Surveillance from Space (APSS) initiative. The APSS initiative is a multi-year, multi-domain, multinational initiative that aims to increase space-based intelligence sharing across the Alliance, leading to a more comprehensive cross-domain intelligence picture necessary to inform political decision making and military operations. Managed by the NATO Communications and Information Agency (NCIA), the initiative will improve NATO’s overall intelligence through a more effective use of both government-owned and commercial space-based assets, technologies, and data, increasing the speed at which space-based data is collected, aggregated and delivered.

DroneShield (ASX:DRO) has received a package of three standalone follow-on contracts for $61.6m from its privately owned in-country European reseller that is contractually required to distribute the products to a European military customer. The contract is for handheld detection and counter-drone systems and associated accessories. DroneShield expects to deliver all equipment throughout Q3 2025, with cash payment expected in Q3 and Q4 2025.
25 Jun 25. 27 Jun 25. Saab has received an order for its Combat Training Centre from the Danish Defence Acquisition and Logistics Organisation. The order value is SEK 680m and deliveries will take place 2025-2027. The order includes a comprehensive package of soldier and vehicle training systems, anti-tank and sniper training weapons, as well as communication systems and exercise control software (EXCON) which is used for after-action review. Saab will also provide training support in Denmark at four designated sites.
20 Jun 25. Thales was awarded a contract to supply a Ground Master 400 Alpha (GM400α) radar, with delivery within 14 months, as part of an air surveillance modernisation programme. Thales has met the strategic request to supply a Ground Master surveillance radar in record time. Renowned for its outstanding reliability, unmatched performance and high mobility, the GM400α plays a critical role in air surveillance worldwide. In the past year, Thales has invested in an industrial ramp-up, tripling production capacity for Ground Master radars in France, to support the increase in air surveillance needs and in particular urgent operational requests.

Fincantieri announced that Orizzonte Sistemi Navali, the joint venture between Fincantieri and Leonardo, has signed a new Through Life Sustainment Management (TLSM 2) contract with OCCAR (the Organisation for Joint Armament Cooperation). This agreement ensures long-term in-service support for the FREMM-class frigates delivered to the Italian Navy and marks the continuation of a well-established strategic collaboration among Italy’s key defence stakeholders. The TLSM2 contract is valued at approximately €764m, including around €335m in options, and will run for five and a half years. It covers the maintenance and logistical support for all systems and equipment on the FREMM units. Subcontracts are being finalised with Fincantieri and Leonardo, valued at approximately €265m and €190m respectively, with additional contributions from key partners such as MBDA, Elettronica, TMDS and several small and medium-sized enterprises from Italy’s naval and electronics sectors. This new phase of support introduces a more integrated and innovative model of collaboration between industry and the Italian Navy. A key feature of TLSM2 is the direct integration of industry personnel into naval processes, facilities and digital systems, with a strong focus on preventive maintenance, materials management and optimised fleet readiness. The use of digital platforms for service execution and reporting, in tandem with engineering support and scheduled maintenance during planned downtimes, is designed to ensure maximum fleet availability while minimising operational disruption.

Airbus – The NATO Support and Procurement Agency (NSPA) has ordered two additional Airbus A330 Multi Role Tanker Transport (MRTT) aircraft, increasing the Multinational MRTT Fleet (MMF) to 12 aircraft. The two additional aircraft will be delivered in 2028 and 2029. This expansion coincides with the formal accession of Sweden and Denmark to the MMF programme, further strengthening European strategic autonomy and collaborative defence capabilities.
26 Jun 25. Diehl Defence – Sweden becomes the latest of the 24 European Sky Shield Initiative (ESSI) countries, to opt for IRIS-T SLM as an element in its ground-based air defence armament. During a press conference on Gotland, Sweden, the country’s Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson and Minister of Defence Pål Jonson announced that the Swedish procurement agency FMV will procure seven fire units of the IRIS-T SLM ground-based air defence system. The signature event, attended by Diehl Defence CEO Helmut Rauch and CPO Dr. Harald Buschek, was part of a troop visit of the Swedish Armed Forces’ P18 regiment on Gotland. Sweden is now the eighth country which has chosen IRIS-T SLM as their air defence system solution. Sweden is also obtaining the IRIS-T SLM systems by making use of a standardized contract for ESSI procurements. ICEYE, the European space and defense technology company, and global leader in Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) satellite operations for high-resolution Earth observation and persistent monitoring, has been selected to provide Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) systems to the Royal Netherlands Air Force (RNLAF). This agreement marks a significant advancement in the Netherlands’ space-based defense capabilities and its commitment to strengthening national security through sovereign ISR assets. Under the agreement with the Royal Netherlands Air Force, ICEYE will deliver a full suite of ISR solutions to the RNLAF, including four 25cm resolution SAR satellites, a local ground segment and antenna, and a mobile ground segment featuring an autonomous, AI-driven imagery intelligence hub. The contract also includes the sale of satellite data from ICEYE’s existing constellation. The order value amounts to approximately 2.9bn SEK. Ondas has announced today that its wholly owned subsidiary American Robotics Inc. has secured a purchase order from a major urban public safety organization in the U.S. for its patent-pending Kestrel system. The Kestrel system is available in both active and passive detection configurations, supporting fixed and mobile applications for versatile deployment, says Ondas. In addition to Counter-UAS and drone detection, Kestrel can be integrated with American Robotics’ Optimus System to support fully remote autonomous drone operations, when Optimus is deployed for aerial security and inspection. Avon Protection’s FM50 respirator meets the latest NATO forces’ military mask requirements with variants in use across the world. Rheinmetall Defence Nederland B.V. – The Dutch Ministry of Defence has, on behalf of the Ukraine Task Force, signed a contract with the Ede-based subsidiary Rheinmetall Defence Nederland B.V. to supply 20 Ermine vehicles. The Minister of Defence signed the contract with Rheinmetall on the 24th of June during the NATO Industry Summit in The Hague. The variants now ordered are manned/unmanned ground vehicles. These are to be delivered to the Ukrainian armed forces, strengthening their capability for casualty evacuation near the frontline. The vehicles are to be delivered in 2026.

SCD, a global leader in defense InfraRed technology specializing in the development and manufacture of a wide range of cooled and uncooled infrared detectors and high-power laser diodes, announces it has secured a contracts valued at over $40m in Asia to supply a diverse range of advanced cooled MWIR (Medium-Wave Infrared) and LWIR (Long-Wave Infrared) detectors. These orders consist of a balanced selection of products and originate from various small tenders and direct orders, primarily in Europe. Exail has been selected to supply multiple Unmanned Surface Vessels (USVs) and Mine Identification and Disposal Systems (MIDS) to the Indonesian Navy enabling a fully integrated unmanned Mine Countermeasures (MCM) capability. The contract covers the delivery of four Exail’s Inspector 90 USVs, along with Seascan and K-Ster Mine Identification and Disposal Systems. These advanced systems will be deployed from two new, next-generation MCM motherships, (KRI Pulau Fani and KRI Pulau Fanildo). All systems will be remotely operated from the mothership and coordinated through Exail unified Command and Control (C2) center. The C2 center, powered by Umisoft software suite and installed in the ship’s combat room, will provide integrated control software for both sweeping and hunting operations. 25 Jun 25. MDA Space has secured C$60m ($43m) contracts for the next phase of work on the River-class destroyer (RCD) programme. Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd. has won a bid to commercially make India’s small satellite launch rockets, in the government’s biggest move yet to open its fast-growing space industry to private players. Fighter jet maker HAL won with a bid of 5.11bn rupees ($59m), space regulator the Indian National Space Promotion and Authorisation Centre said on Friday. Reuters reported in February that three consortiums – Alpha Design Technologies, a unit of Adani Defence Systems and Technologies, state-backed Bharat Dynamics and HAL – were the finalists to acquire India’s Small Satellite Launch Vehicle (SSLV) technology.
