19 Jun 25. Lincad supplies specialist battery systems for PHASA-35 HAPS UAS. Lincad has secured a contract with BAE Systems’ subsidiary company, Prismatic, to develop high voltage lithium-ion battery packs to power PHASA-35. The Surrey-based battery systems specialist has been working collaboratively with Prismatic to increase the battery capacity to power PHASA-35, Prismatic’s ultra-light, solar-electric, high altitude pseudo satellite (HAPS) unmanned aerial system (UAS) developed and built in its facility in Hampshire. PHASA-35 offers a persistent and cost-effective alternative to traditional communications and image sensing systems, allowing payloads to be sent up into the stratosphere, rather than deeper into space.

16 Jun 25. The Defence Science and Technology Laboratory (Dstl) has awarded the £5.15m satellite contract for the Orpheus space domain awareness mission to Astroscale UK. This will be a successor to the Prometheus-2 and CIRCE missions that were lost aboard the Virgin Orbit launch in 2023. Orpheus is a collaborative effort between UK industry, government and academia–as well as international government partners in Canada and the US. Launch is anticipated to be in 2027. Astroscale UK is working with subcontractor Open Cosmos Limited who will design and build 2 near identical cubesats that Astroscale UK will operate for the mission. 16 Jun 25. Leonardo – The UK Government has released £204.6m of funding towards the production and integration of an advanced new radar for the latest Royal Air Force (RAF)’s Eurofighter Typhoon jets. The state-of-the-art radar, known as the ECRS Mk2, will transform Typhoon’s control of the air, bringing a world-class electronic warfare capability which will allow the aircraft to simultaneously detect, identify and track multiple targets in the air and on the ground. The latest funding secures the critical elements required to manufacture the radar along with its integration on to the aircraft by BAE Systems and Leonardo UK and comes ahead of a full rate production contract expected later in 2025. 12 Jun 25. APS wins Lithuania defence ministry C-UAS contract to protect energy plants. Poland’s Advanced Protection Systems SA (APS) has won a Lithuania’s Ministry of National Defence contract for “stationary systems for detecting and neutralising unmanned aerial vehicles” “These systems will be used to protect strategic energy facilities,” according to a ministry statement. “The procurement was carried out at the request of the Ministry of Energy and with the funds of energy companies. The procedures were carried out in accordance with applicable legal requirements and best practices to ensure efficient use of finances. 16 Jun 25. BAE Systems has signed a new contract with the Swedish Defence Materiel Administration to supply additional BONUS precision-guided munitions to the Swedish Armed Forces. The award is valued at nearly $62m (SEK 600m). This contract marks a continued partnership between BAE Systems Bofors and the Swedish Armed Forces, reinforcing their shared commitment to delivering cutting-edge defense solutions. 16 Jun 25. FMV, the Swedish Defence Materiel Administration and Finnish Millog Oy have signed an armoured vehicle maintenance contract. The new agreement aims to deepen cooperation between Sweden and Finland and ensure the technical support for the use of for example Patria XA 202 platform based armoured all-terrain vehicles. FMV procures, develops and supplies equipment and services for the Swedish Defence Forces. With the agreement, FMV and Swedish Defence Forces are able to take advantage of Millog’s expertise in maintenance and technical support. Mehler Protection, a leading provider of personal ballistic protection and part of Mehler Systems, is set to equip the Zurich City Police with the latest generation of operational waistcoats. 17 Jun 25. Saab has received an order from the Swedish Defence Materiel Administration (FMV) of Giraffe 4A radar systems with associated services to the Swedish Armed Forces. The order value is approximately SEK 1.4bn with deliveries 2026-2027. Giraffe 4A will further strengthen Sweden’s ground-based air surveillance and offers a mobile modern sensor, enabling software-based updates.

18 Jun 25. The Irish Government and Thales DMS France have signed a multi-million euro contract for a towed sonar system, to enhance the nation’s maritime security capabilities. This sonar system, set to be deployed on Irish Naval vessels in 2027, will enhance monitoring and surveillance within the subsea environment. Airbus Helicopters – Sébastien Lecornu, the French Minister for the Armed Forces has signed a framework agreement with Bruno Even, CEO of Airbus Helicopters and Marie-Laure Bourgeois, Executive Vice President Sales & Marketing of Naval Group for the future acquisition of the Systèmes de Drone Aérien pour la Marine (SDAM: uncrewed aerial systems for the Navy). The agreement also paves the way for cooperation with other nations via government to government agreements. Each SDAM will feature an Airbus VSR700 uncrewed aerial system (UAS), operated with Naval Group’s Steeris Mission System. Naval Group is also responsible for integrating the SDAMs onto French Navy frigates. As a result of 15 years of R&D experimentation and development, Steeris® MS is a sea proven solution designed for naval combat system integration.

Drone Forge and Airbus Helicopters have signed an agreement to purchase six Flexrotor uncrewed aerial systems (UAS) comprising 17 aircraft, making it the single largest order for the Flexrotor to date. The mission-ready Flexrotor systems will be configured to meet a broad range of operational requirements in the Asia-Pacific region, spanning littoral surveillance and high-altitude inland missions, to infrastructure monitoring and maritime environment assessment.

Embraer (NYSE: ERJ/ B3:EMBR3), a global leader in the aerospace industry, announced today during the 55th edition of the Paris Air Show that the Portuguese State has decided to acquire a sixth KC-390 Millennium aircraft. In August 2019, the government of Portugal and Embraer signed a contract for the acquisition of five KC-390 aircraft, and with this potential additional acquisition, the Portuguese Air Force’s (FAP) transport fleet will include six new-generation KC-390 aircraft, expanding its capacity to fulfill the missions of the Armed Forces and other missions of public interest. Additionally, Embraer and the Portuguese Air Force intend to include ten purchase options in the current contract for potential future acquisitions by European nations or NATO (North Atlantic Treaty Organization) members through the Portuguese State, in government-to-government negotiations. This will allow for increased interoperability and cooperation with new operators of the KC-390 aircraft, with benefits in reducing costs associated with training, logistical support, and life cycle, as well as the growing involvement and development of the Portuguese aeronautical cluster.

13 Jun 25. ICEYE, the global leader in synthetic aperture radar (SAR) satellite technology, and the Portuguese USAF, a branch of the Portuguese Armed Forces, announced on June 12 the purchase of one ICEYE SAR satellite, a ground segment and an antenna at a signing ceremony in Lisbon. ICEYE will deliver the satellite and other components to CTI Aeroespacial, a joint venture between the Portuguese USAF and CEiiA, a local centre of engineering and innovation. The parties are in discussions relating to the purchase of additional satellites in the future. This satellite will be part of the Portuguese component of the Atlantic Constellation, a project for a constellation of small Earth observation satellites, primarily driven by Spain and Portugal, that aims to provide high-frequency data for environmental monitoring and disaster relief, complementing existing European systems like Copernicus. Additionally, ICEYE and CTI Aeroespacial have agreed to collaborate to strengthen Portugal’s national space capabilities by establishing a satellite assembly facility in Portugal. The memorandum of understanding was signed on the same date to establish a long-term partnership as part of Portugal’s 2030 Space Strategy.
13 Jun 25. Lockheed Martin – The Netherlands – Joint Air-to-Ground Missiles. The State Department has made a determination approving a possible Foreign Military Sale to the Government of the Netherlands of Joint Air-to-Ground Missiles and related equipment for an estimated cost of $215m. The Defense Security Cooperation Agency delivered the required certification notifying Congress of this possible sale today. The Government of the Netherlands has requested to buy two hundred ninety-six (296) AGM-179A Joint Air-to-Ground Missiles (JAGM). The following non-MDE items will also be included: AGM-179 JAGM Captive Air Training Missiles (CATM); Tactical Aviation Ground Munition Program (TAGM) office technical assistance; Security Assistance Management Directorate (SAMD), Joint Attack Munition Systems (JAMS) technical assistance; missile handling training; classified and unclassified publications; spare parts; repair and return; storage; and other related elements of program and logistical support. The estimated total cost is $215m. This proposed sale will support the foreign policy and national security objectives of the United States by improving the security of a NATO Ally that is a force for political stability and economic progress in Europe. The Netherlands intends to use these defense articles and services to modernize its armed forces and expand its capability to strengthen its homeland defense and deter regional threats. This will contribute to the Netherlands’ military goals of updating capability while further enhancing interoperability with the United States and other allies. These systems will be employed by AH-64 Apache attack helicopters operated by the Royal Netherlands Air Force (RNLAF). The Netherlands will have no difficulty absorbing this equipment into its armed forces. The proposed sale of this equipment and support will not alter the basic military balance in the region. The principal contractor will be Lockheed Martin Corporation, located in Orlando, FL. At this time, the U.S. Government is not aware of any offset agreement proposed in connection with this potential sale. Any offset agreement will be defined in negotiations between the purchaser and the contractor. Implementation of this proposed sale will require approximately three U.S. Government and three contractor representatives to travel to the Netherlands for program management reviews to support the program. 16 Jun 25. MBDA awarded contract to develop Fulgur very short-range missile for the Italian Army. MBDA signed a development contract to equip the Italian Army with a very short-range air defence (VSHORAD) system. Announcing the contract during Paris Air Show currently under way at Le Bourget from 16-20 June 2025, MBDA also unveiled the name of the missile – ‘Fulgur’ – at the core of the system that is a solution to an operational requirement expressed by the Italian Army. Fulgur is a man-portable, supersonic, fire and forget, all weather, day and night interceptor. It is equipped with a seeker with image processing capabilities and counters a threat set that includes small drones, helicopters and fighter jets. Its features and performances are fully compliant with NATO standards. The first delivery of this operational missile and man-portable launcher is aimed for early 2028. Fulgur will also be integrated into Sky Warden, MBDA’s modular, scalable, and evolvable flagship system to counter unmanned aerial systems (C-UAS). Capitalizing on MBDA’s expertise in the design and development of air defence systems, the new missile will contribute to reinforcing the company’s offer for a European multi-layered air defence capability, ranging from very short-range to anti-ballistic/anti-hypersonic defence. Being man-portable, Fulgur will also give a tactical advantage when mounted on military vehicles. The missile is designed for ease of integration on current vehicles such as the IDV VTLM2 with Leonardo turrets as well as 8×8 and armoured platforms, or future ones equipped with automated turrets. Fulgur can also be air launched and is suitable for integration onto helicopters.

Saab and the French defence procurement agency, Direction générale de l’armement (DGA), have today signed a joint declaration of intent regarding the sale of Saab’s GlobalEye Early Warning and Control (AEW&C) aircraft to France, including ground equipment, training and support. The joint declaration of intent, which was signed today at the Paris Air Show, includes DGA’s intention to procure two GlobalEye aircraft from Saab. The joint declaration of intent also includes an option for DGA to purchase two additional aircraft. A final notification process to complete the procurement will now follow. The DGA has stated that a contract is expected to be finalised in the coming months. The parties have not yet entered into a contract and Saab has not yet received an order for GlobalEye from France.

Saab has signed a framework agreement with the French aircraft maintenance and modification provider Sabena technics relating to aircraft modification work for Saab’s GlobalEye Airborne Early Warning and Control (AEW&C) aircraft. The long-term agreement is intended to form the basis for future business between the companies, covering complex aircraft modification and associated services for GlobalEye.

19 Jun 25. MBDA start-up NEODE Systems gets first contract. NEODE Systems, the MBDA start-up dedicated to the development of advanced digital technologies and artificial intelligence (AI), has received its first contract from France’s Direction Générale de l’Armement (DGA) on behalf of the French Army. Less than 18 months after the creation of the MBDA subsidiary, this first contract aims to demonstrate the increased beyond-line-of-sight (BLOS) capability of the Akeron MP missile when fired using Ground Warden MBDA’s AI powered decision-making aid. A demonstration due to take place before the end of the year will test Ground Warden through a sequence of firings. This testing will ultimately contribute to the acquisition of a license, providing a solution to meet the French Army’s need to be agile in the face of new battlefield threats. Launched by MBDA in January 2024, NEODE Systems is developing disruptive technologies to increase the capabilities of MBDA’s weapon systems. Thanks to an innovative development model, the solutions from NEODE Systems allow a rapid transition from concept to product. This new model allows MBDA to adapt to new needs from armed forces and therefore respond to new threats observed on the battlefield, maintaining a decisive operational advantage. 18 Jun 25. Cuashub.com said today that American Robotics secures C-UAS contract with U.S. public safety agency. American Robotics, a subsidiary of Ondas Holdings Inc., has reportedly received a purchase order from a major U.S. urban public safety agency for its Kestrel counter-UAS system. The Kestrel platform is designed for drone detection, airspace monitoring and counter-UAS operations in both fixed and mobile deployments. According to the company, the system will be used to enhance security during high-visibility public events, where unauthorized drone activity could pose a risk to public safety. While the purchasing agency has not been publicly named, the announcement highlights the growing demand for layered airspace security solutions at major events, with both the Olympics and FIFA World Cup on the horizon in the U.S. Kestrel integrates both active and passive sensors and is compatible with other American Robotics systems, such as the Optimus drone platform. The company says Kestrel has previously supported operations granted FAA Beyond Visual Line of Sight (BVLOS) waivers. The US Air Force’s AFWERX unit, which connects fast-changing technologies to the requirements of the air force, has awarded a Direct-to-Phase II (D2P2) contract to Base Operations to build a new threat visualization tool “that helps protect missions and improve warfighter readiness. Serco, the international provider of critical services to governments, announced today that it has retained its contract to provide support to the US Navy’s amphibious warfare ships and systems. 19 Jun 25. Fargo Jet Center announced the acquisition of two Beechcraft King Air 360 aircraft from Textron Aviation. The purchase was finalized on Wednesday, June 18th, at the 55th Paris Air Show, with the agreement taking place at the Textron Aviation Special Missions booth.

The Hadley H13 is a mission-upgraded variant that increases engine reusability with additional starts, driving down cost per flight while supporting new test objectives and mission profiles. Ursa Major’s Hadley engines have powered multiple successful Talon-A missions, including sustained Mach 5+ flight and vehicle recovery, demonstrating the engine’s performance under operational conditions. Work will be performed in Patuxent River, Maryland (90%); and Hollywood, Maryland (10%), and is expected to be completed in June 2030. 17 Jun 25. Boeing – Australia – F/A-18F and EA-18G Sustainment Support. The State Department has made a determination approving a possible Foreign Military Sale to the Government of Australia of F/A-18F and EA-18G Sustainment Support and related equipment for an estimated cost of $2.0bn. The Defense Security Cooperation Agency delivered the required certification notifying Congress of this possible sale today. The Government of Australia has requested to buy the following equipment and services related to sustainment of its F/A-18F Super Hornet and EA-18G Growler aircraft fleet: sixty (60) Global Lightning – Joint Tactical Terminal – Transceivers (JTT-X); forty (40) Advanced Electronic Warfare systems; and twenty-four (24) Next Generation Electronic Attack Units (NGEAU). The following non-MDE items will also be included: AN/PYQ-10C Simple Key Loaders; Inline Network Encryptors; AN/ALE-47 electronic warfare countermeasures systems (common carriage); Joint Mission Planning System (JMPS) software; aircraft spares and repair parts; other support equipment; software and hardware updates and development; system configuration upgrades; avionics software support; aircraft armament equipment; Foreign Liaison Officer support; technical data; engineering change proposals; engine component improvements; training and training equipment; training aids, devices, and spares; flight test services; transportation costs; system integration and testing; software development and integration; tools and test equipment; U.S. Government and contractor engineering, technical, and logistics support services; and other related elements of logistics and program support. The estimated total cost is $2.0bn. This proposed sale will support the foreign policy and national security objectives of the United States. Australia is one of our most important allies in the Western Pacific. The strategic location of this political and economic power contributes significantly to ensuring peace and economic stability in the Western Pacific. It is vital to the U.S. national interest to assist our ally in developing and maintaining a strong and ready self-defense capability. The proposed sale will improve Australia’s capability to meet current and future threats by providing the necessary follow-on sustainment support services for its F/A-18F Super Hornet and EA-18G Growler aircraft fleet. It will also improve Australia’s capability to support coalition operations and contribute to mutual security goals in the region. Australia will have no difficulty absorbing this equipment and services into its armed forces. The proposed sale of this equipment and support will not alter the basic military balance in the region. The principal contractor will be The Boeing Company, located in Arlington, VA. At this time, the U.S. Government is not aware of any offset agreement proposed in connection with this potential sale.
