Capita announces that Capita Entrust, a leading provider of tailored training and development services, has secured a contract with the Ministry of Defence (MoD) to deliver a comprehensive training programme for British Army recruits. The contract, valued at £7.5m, will span three years with the option to extend for a further two years. Under this new contract, Capita Entrust will provide structured and high-quality adventure training that prepares recruits for various challenges they may face in their military careers. This includes supplying personnel to delivering technical outdoor adventurous activities, including rock climbing, mountaineering, caving, and paddle sports such as kayaking and canoeing. Additionally, Capita’s stores team will conduct regular inspections to ensure all personal protective equipment (PPE) meets the highest safety standards and is correctly maintained.
29 May 25. Filtronic plc (AIM: FTC), the designer and manufacturer of products for the aerospace, defence, space and telecoms infrastructure markets, is pleased to announce a new contract win to supply high-performance modules for an airborne radar application with its lead defence customer, Leonardo. The new order, valued at £0.8m, expands the product offering of critical components supplied for Leonardo’s state-of-the-art Active Electronically Scanned Array (“AESA”) radar system. It is anticipated the order will be fulfilled in H2 of the next financial year and the modules will be manufactured at the Company’s new highly automated state-of-the-art hybrid microelectronics manufacturing operation in Sedgefield, County Durham.

29 May 25. G3 Systems wins €100m contract to supply Containers and Flatracks for the Netherlands Ministry of Defence. G3 Systems Limited, a British company with approaching 25 years of operationally proven expertise in the design and production of deployable infrastructure solutions, has won a major new contract to supply the Netherlands Ministry of Defence with circa 700 flatracks and containers, as part of their Wissellaadsystemen, Trekker-opleggercombinaties and WielBergingsvoertuigen (WTB) programme. The contract is worth €100m and consists of a 30-month delivery phase followed by a 15-year support phase. The Netherlands WTB programme has 3 distinct elements – Trucks, Trailers & Semi-Trailers and Physical Distribution Systems. The contract for the flatracks and containers is the largest of 3 separate parts to the Physical Distribution Systems. The G3 Systems contract is for the provision of over 400 general purpose flatrack units and associated equipment, and 270 specialist containers for the storage and transportation of general stores, medicinal items, ammunition, POL & chemicals. The container sub-systems include power generation, HVAC CBRN filtration, medical refrigeration and equipment tracking & monitoring. There is also a contract option to increase the units delivered under the initial contract by up to 100%. Both the flatracks and containers are to be capable of worldwide deployment by all means of transport. The project demonstrates true collaboration with G3 Systems’ established global supply chain, with a large part of the integration to be completed by European manufacturing partners in conjunction with G3 Systems programme management, project expertise, design and support services.
28 May 25. Kromek Group plc (AIM: KMK), a leading developer of radiation and bio-detection technology solutions for the advanced imaging and CBRN detection segments, has received two orders to supply its D3 series of detectors for use by a European and a US customer. The orders, valued together at approximately $900k, are for immediate delivery. The European customer is dedicated to fostering civilian science and technology partnerships aimed at mitigating global CBRN security risks and advancing non-proliferation efforts. The US customer is a leading supplier of integrated products working in the defence and security sector with a history of implementing innovative security solutions. The customers will receive the Group’s D3 series of detectors to enhance their capabilities in the timely detection of radiation levels, as well as to facilitate data collection and processing and real-time data transmission. This will enable better informed decision-making and rapid responses to potential threats to national safety and security.

28 May 25. Saab has been awarded a contract by the Swedish Defence Materiel Administration (FMV) to equip the Swedish Navy’s five Visby-class corvettes with the Sea Ceptor air defence system from MBDA. This upgrade, valued at approximately SEK 1.6bn, will significantly enhance Sweden’s and NATO’s air defence capabilities. The order for Saab is part of FMV’s long-term plan to maintain and modernise the five Visby-class corvettes. This new naval air defence system allows for protection of a considerably larger area and the engagement of air targets at longer ranges compared to the existing weapon systems currently on board the vessels. FMV has previously placed an order for the Sea Ceptor air defence system with MBDA. Saab’s work on modifying the Visby-class corvettes and installing the system will begin in early 2026.

23 May 25. Sweden’s Defence Materiel Administration (FMV) announced the signing of a contract with Bombardier Aerospace for the purchase and delivery of two Global 6500 business jets. The aircraft will be used for government VIP transport and will be sourced from the secondary market to reduce costs. The total value of the contract is SEK 1.1bn and includes training services for both flight and technical personnel. FMV confirmed that the Global 6500 jets will replace the currently operated Gulfstream IV/550 aircraft. Delivery of the new aircraft is scheduled between November and December of this year. FMV highlighted that the acquisition will help reduce logistical costs, as the Global 6500 shares its platform with the GlobalEye airborne early warning and control aircraft already in service. 28 May 25. GMV secures role in 2024 European Defence Fund. The company will be responsible for coordinating two of the six projects under 2024 EDF, including PRECISE and MYRIAD. Technology company GMV has been selected to participate in six 2024 European Defence Fund (EDF) projects, reinforce its role in advancing vital competencies that support Europe’s security and self-reliance in technology. Of the six projects, GMV will spearhead two, namely PRECISE and MYRIAD. This positions the company as the foremost European entity in terms of leading project count in this particular round of EDF financing. Coordinated by GMV, the PRECISE project is designed to support European armed forces in reducing the impact of military operations on civilian infrastructure. The project aims to develop an advanced tool for planning in complex operational environments. MYRIAD focuses on technological solutions that combine satellite imagery with optical and radar data. This project is expected to enhance strategic surveillance and support decision-making processes in defence contexts. GMV will also make technological contribute to four other projects. QinetiQ US wins a $41m, three-year task order to provide software and technology integration support for a counter-UAS project under the U.S. Army Combat Capabilities Development Command (DEVCOM) C5ISR Center. The company will deliver technical and software engineering expertise to advance counter-UAS capabilities across fixed installations, vehicles, and mobile deployment systems. 28 May 25. SMARTSHOOTER, a world-class designer, developer, and manufacturer of innovative fire control systems, is proud to announce that its U.S. subsidiary, SMARTSHOOTER Inc., has received a new order valued at $13m from the U.S. Army for SMASH 2000L fire control systems. The systems will be deployed as part of the Army’s Transformation In Contact (TIC2.0) forces, a specially designated formation for accelerated testing and integration of advanced technologies on the battlefield. SMASH fire control systems have already been acquired and operationally deployed by various branches of the U.S. armed forces. Now, with the recent U.S. Army order, the technology will be integrated into the combat formation. This marks a major milestone in advancing U.S. dismounted counter-UAS capabilities.

28 May 25. NP Aerospace Canada receives order from Marshall Canada for Armoured Personnel Transport Modules. NP Aerospace, the global vehicle integrator and armour system design and manufacturer, has today announced the placement of a contract by Marshall Canada with NP Aerospace Canada, for the design and delivery of Armoured Personnel Transport Modules (APTM) as part of their wider Logistic Vehicle Modernization (LVM) program. NP Aerospace is exhibiting at CANSEC 2025 in Canada, at booth 1729. The contract will see NP Aerospace design, develop, test, certify and produce the APTMs over a 3-year period as a major supplier to the Power Team – an industry consortium comprising General Dynamics Land Systems-Canada, Marshall Canada, Mercedes-Benz (Daimler Trucks), Manac and Soframe. The Power Team was formally awarded the LVM contract by Canada’s Department of National Defence in May 2024. The modules will provide a significant level of blast and ballistic protection to the internally transported personnel. With a fully integrated design, the system will deliver the functionality and protection required to safely and comfortably transport troops on the back of Canada’s new fleet of Mercedes-Benz Zetros trucks, adding significant capability, protection, mobility and flexibility to deployed dismounted troops.

28 May 25. Rolls-Royce has secured a contract to supply advanced propulsion and handling systems for the first three ships in Canada’s River-class destroyer programme, part of the country’s multi-billion-dollar National Shipbuilding Strategy. According to the company, the Royal Canadian Navy’s new ships will be equipped with the MT30 marine gas turbine, the Mission Bay Handling System, and mtu Series 4000 diesel generators. Rolls-Royce will work in partnership with Irving Shipbuilding, the prime contractor for the project, with some equipment supplied via the Canadian licensee Wajax Power Systems. 28 May 25. Rolls-Royce has announced that its MT30 marine gas turbines will power the Republic of Korea Navy’s next generation of Ulsan-class frigates. The company confirmed that the MT30 has been selected for the FFX Batch IV programme, alongside controllable pitch propellers and mtu-powered diesel generator sets. According to Rolls-Royce, the first two ships in the eight-vessel Batch IV programme will be built by Hanwha Ocean, continuing a long-standing collaboration between the UK firm and South Korea’s defence sector. The MT30, a high-performance gas turbine derived from the Rolls-Royce Trent 800 aero engine, is already in service with several navies including the US Navy, Royal Navy, and Italian Navy. L3Harris Technologies (NYSE: LHX) has received a contract from the Canadian Commercial Corporation to provide 16 WESCAM MX™-20 surveillance and targeting systems to support the country’s P-8A aircraft. Operated by the Royal Canadian Air Force, the P-8A will conduct critical maritime and overland patrol and reconnaissance missions using WESCAM MX-Series systems. The contract also marks the 8,000th WESCAM MX-Series EO/IR system delivered to customers globally. L3Harris’ WESCAM MX-Series EO/IR surveillance and targeting systems are active in over 87 countries, supporting missions across air, land and sea on more than 260 different platforms.
