01 May 25. Babcock International Group, (Babcock), has supplied London Fire Brigade (LFB) with four new extreme weather vehicles, as the company equips the service to safely tackle potential threats from grass and wildfires around London. These bespoke 4×4 vehicles can pump 500 litres of water and are fitted with a larger boot to allow more storage space for equipment such as misting pumps, wildfire beaters and leaf blowers, all of which will provide more flexibility in how fires are tackled. Babcock has a long-term support contract which started in 2014 and runs until 2035 to manage the LFB fleet which consists of more than 400 vehicles, 50,000 pieces of operational equipment and two fire boats. Each of the new vehicles has off-road capabilities as well as technology which enables firefighters to tackle fires more quickly and safely, helping to protect valuable green space around London. Continuing the successful trial from last year, Babcock delivered the vehicles ahead of the warmer weather.
28 Apr 25. Keysight Technologies, Inc. (NYSE: KEYS) has been awarded a contract with NATO’s Naval Forces Sensor and Weapons Accuracy Check Sites (FORACS) to modernize its testing capabilities for critical radar and electronic support measures (ESM) systems. Under this agreement, Keysight will deliver Radar Target Generator and Electronic Warfare testing (EW) solutions to be deployed at NATO Navy bases, enabling the calibration and maintenance of NATO radar systems and the assessment of ESM effectiveness. 28 Apr 25. Marshall has received a long-term contract from Thales UK to manufacture, maintain and support key components of anti-submarine sonar arrays that provide a critical edge for the UK’s Royal Navy. Under the contract, which will run from 2025 through 2039, Marshall will become a leading supplier for Sonar 2076 and Sonar 2087. Sonar 2076 is equipped on Astute class submarines in addition to the next-generation Dreadnought class, while Sonar 2087 is in use on existing Type 23 frigates and will also be equipped on their upcoming replacement, the Type 26, including variants for export. Production and in-service support will be undertaken by Marshall’s Advanced Manufacturing Solutions (formerly Aerostructures) business line in Cambridge, UK.

Cohort plc, the Independent Technology Group, is pleased to announce that its subsidiary Systems Engineering Assessment Ltd (“SEA”) has secured a 5-year contract with Thales UK as part of the Maritime Sensor Enhancement Team (MSET) programme. Under the contract, SEA will provide waterfront support maintenance, repairs and regulatory inspections on the towed array handling equipment at the Royal Navy’s UK dockyards and overseas.

The U.S. Department of Defense’s Defense Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA) has notified Congress that the Government of Romania has requested to buy one (1) AN/MPQ-65 Configuration 3+ Increment 3 radar set; one (1) AN/MSQ-132 Engagement Control Station; two (2) M903 launching stations; and one (1) Electrical Power Plant (EPP) III. Bittium received a purchase order to supply more Bittium Tactical Wireless IP Network™ system products and Bittium Tough SDR Vehicular™ radios with accessories to the Croatian Navy and Land Forces. The purchase order is part of a four-year framework agreement between IntellByte INFO, Bittium’s Croatian partner, and supplier of IT solutions, and the Croatian Ministry of Defence. The framework agreement covers the supply and integration of tactical communications systems for the use of different military branches of the Croatian Armed Forces. The purchase order received by Bittium is valued at approximately EUR 1.8m. Bittium’s solutions modernize the tactical communications of the Croatian Navy and Land Forces as part of the renewal of the command-and-control system of the Croatian Armed Forces. The goal of the renewal is to enable real-time situational awareness to support commanding the deployed troops of the Croatian Armed Forces. The TAC WIN system is used to build a modular and survivable backbone network and the high-performance Tough SDR Vehicular radios connect the Navy’s vessels as part of the network. Bittium Tough SDR Vehicular radios are planned to be used by the Land Forces for seamless communications with the Navy.
28 Apr 25. RTX – The Netherlands – Tomahawk Land Attack Missiles. The State Department has made a determination approving a possible Foreign Military Sale to the Government of the Netherlands of Tomahawk Land Attack Missiles and related equipment for an estimated cost of $2.19bn. The Defense Security Cooperation Agency delivered the required certification notifying Congress of this possible sale today. The Government of the Netherlands has requested to buy up to one hundred sixty-three (163) Tomahawk Block V All Up Rounds (AURs); twelve (12) Tomahawk Block IV AURs; up to ten (10) Tactical Tomahawk Weapons Control Systems (TTWCS); and up to two (2) Tomahawk Block IV telemetry missiles. The following non-MDE items will also be included: satellite data link terminals (KIV-18A); integrated secure broadcast systems (KSX-5); communications security devices (KGV-135A); technical, programmatic, engineering, and logistical support for the Tomahawk AUR missiles, TTWCS, and Mission Distribution Software; missile containers; software; hardware; training; training devices; unscheduled missile maintenance; spares; in-service support; communication equipment; operational flight test; publications; engineering and technical expertise to maintain the capability; non-recurring engineering; transportation; and other related elements of logistics and program support. The proposed sale will improve the Netherland’s capability to meet current and future threats by utilizing long-range, conventional surface-to-surface missiles with significant standoff range that can neutralize growing threats. The State Department has made a determination approving a possible Foreign Military Sale to the Government of Poland of AIM-120D Advanced Medium Range Air-to-Air Missiles and related elements of logistics and program support for an estimated cost of $1.33bn. The Defense Security Cooperation Agency delivered the required certification notifying Congress of this possible sale today. The Government of Poland has requested to buy four hundred (400) AIM-120D3 Advanced Medium-Range Air-to-Air Missiles (AMRAAM); sixteen (16) AIM-120D3 AMRAAM guidance sections, including either Selective Availability Anti-Spoofing Modules or M-Code; and one (1) AIM-120 AMRAAM Instrumented Test Vehicle. 28 Apr 25. Honeywell has received two research grants to execute projects aimed at advancing avionics and cybersecurity capabilities for the European defense sector. The multi-year projects will be carried out by Honeywell International s.r.o. – a subsidiary of Honeywell International based in the Czech Republic. The work will be conducted at the company’s advanced engineering center in Brno. The New Generation Military Integrated Modular Avionics (NG-MIMA) project and the Artificial Intelligence Deployable Agent (AIDA) project have been awarded under the European Defence Fund (EDF), which supports the development of European defense innovation. The selection of Honeywell International s.r.o. as a consortium member highlights the company’s commitment to fostering domestic innovation in Europe and its support for the European Defence Industrial Strategy. The NG-MIMA project, coordinated by Spanish company Indra Sistemas, aims to develop next-generation European military avionics in the form of an integrated, modular system for aircraft. The AIDA project, led by CR14 – a foundation established by the Estonian Ministry of Defence – focuses on the development and modernization of cyber defense technologies.

The total value of the contract, if all options are exercised, is $3,838,238,234. This contract modification provides for the exercise of options for the procurement of 30 full rate production ACV medium caliber cannon mission role variants and associated production, fielding and support costs, and spares. Work will be performed in York, Pennsylvania (60%); Aiken, South Carolina (15%); San Jose, California (15%); Sterling Heights, Michigan (5%); and Stafford, Virginia (5%), with an expected completion date of June 2027. General Dynamics Ordnance and Tactical Systems Inc., St. Petersburg, Florida, was awarded a $727,803,978 firm-fixed-price contract to procure 120 mm Insensitive Munition High Explosive with Tracer tank ammunition cartridges. Bids were solicited via the internet with one received. Work locations and funding will be determined with each order, with an estimated completion date of April 26, 2030. 01 May 25. USMC to buy Smart Shooter fire control for interim capability. The US Marine Corps plans to buy 84 kits of the Smart Shooter 2000L for a C-UAS capability for dismounted forces. BAE Systems (LON: BA) has been selected by U.S. Space Force Space Systems Command to provide a new satellite command and control (C2) system for its Future Operationally Resilient Ground Evolution (FORGE) program. FORGE C2 will provide the Space Force with a command-and-control system for several of its Next-Generation Overhead Persistent Infrared (Next-Gen OPIR) missile warning satellites. In addition, the on-orbit Space Based Infrared System (SBIRS) constellation will be transitioned onto the FORGE C2 system. BAE Systems has been selected to provide a new satellite command and control (C2) system for the Future Operationally Resilient Ground Evolution (FORGE) program. Under FORGE C2, the Space Force will utilize BAE Systems’ software solution to consolidate telemetry, tracking and command, flight dynamics, mission management, and ground resource management applications onto a single framework. 25 Apr 25. Indra Air Traffic has secured a contract from the US Air Force (USAF) for the modernisation of its Man-Portable (MP) tactical air navigation (TACAN) systems. The MP TACAN systems are adapted from Indra’s TACAN technology and are essential in delivering precise navigational data to both military and civilian aircraft. 25 Apr 25. HD HHI secures Korean USV design contract. South Korea’s HD Hyundai Heavy Industries (HD HHI) has been awarded a contract from the Republic of Korea Navy (RoKN) to jointly develop an uncrewed surface vehicle (USV) capable of conducting independent reconnaissance and combat operations. HD HHI said in a 22 April statement that it will commence work on the “combat USV concept design project” by the end of the same month and expects this process to be completed by December. The company added that it will work with the RoKN to define mission requirements, identify relevant technologies, and plan acquisition strategies. (Source: AMR)

28 Apr 25. Dassault – India signs $7.4bn deal to buy 26 Rafale fighter jets. India signed a deal with France on Monday to buy 26 Rafale fighter aircraft worth 630bn rupees ($7.4bn) for its navy, the Indian defence ministry said in a statement. India will buy 22 single-seater and four twin-seater fighters, made by France’s Dassault Aviation (AM.PA) the ministry said, in a deal that would boost the Asian country’s defence ties with its second-largest arms supplier.
