Rocket Lab has also been selected by the United Kingdom’s Ministry of Defence (UK MOD) for its Hypersonic Technologies & Capability Development Framework (HTCDF), a ~$1.3bn (£1bn) framework to rapidly develop advanced hypersonic capabilities for the United Kingdom. As a newly-selected supplier to the HTCDF, Rocket Lab is now eligible to bid to provide services, technologies, and testing capabilities that support the UK’s development of sovereign hypersonic technology. 11 Apr 25.  BAE – Sweden Procures 18 New ARCHER Mobile Howitzers from BAE. The news was recently announced by Swedish Minister for Defence, Dr. Pål Jonson, in conjunction with a visit to the BAE Systems Bofors site in Karlskoga, Sweden. The ARCHERs are part of an artillery package, with five additional artillery location radar systems and funding, worth approximately $300m. In the weeks leading up to this announcement, BAE Systems’ Tridon Mk2 Ground-Based Air Defence System was presented as another part of this latest support package. (Source: ASD Network)

 

11 Apr 25. Diehl –  Switzerland plans to buy four or five IRIS-T SLM medium-range air-defense systems from Germany’s Diehl Defence, with negotiations in an advanced phase, the country’s defense procurement office, Armasuisse, said on Friday. The federal office expects to sign the contract for the ground-to-air missile batteries in the third quarter of 2025, with procurement taking place as part of the European Sky Shield Initiative, Armasuisse said in a statement. 14 Apr 25. Thales to supply NATO with latest-generation situational awareness solution to ensure decision superiority. Thales has been selected by NATO to deliver phase 3 of the NCOP (NATO Common Operational Picture) programme called “NCOP-BMD”. NCOP will provide NATO commanders with a unified, real-time representation of theatres of operations and the threat landscape to improve situational awareness of joint forces operations. Thales has partnered NATO on its tactical situational awareness programme since 2012, with the development of Increment-1 and Increment-2 of NCOP that equip around 30 NATO command centres. The contract is an opportunity for Thales to continue to support NATO in its mission of coordination, planning and command tasks, by providing unprecedented ballistic missile defence (BMD) capabilities to help protect European member nations against the growing threat of ballistic missiles.

15 Apr 25. US Army awards BAE Systems $162m [£124m] contract for new M777 structures. BAE Systems has been awarded a contract by the US Army for M777 lightweight howitzer major structures, worth $162m. BAE Systems has already begun work on the programme, working with its supply chain in the US and the UK to produce the titanium structures, which form the basis of the gun. The initial work started under an Undefinitized Contract Action (UCA), awarded in December 2023, which has now been finalised. The first major structures will be produced at BAE Systems’ new multi-m-pound artillery development and production facility in Sheffield, UK, as well as within the US supply chain and will commence delivery in 2026.  BAE Systems has seen interest in the howitzers from across Europe, Asia, and the Americas. The restart of M777 production presents a unique opportunity for new and existing users of the lightweight howitzer to benefit from a hot production line and economies of scale.

 

11 Apr 25. Cubic Defense has been awarded an eight-year multiple award ID/IQ contract to support U.S. Army Program Executive Officer (PEO) Simulation, Training and Instrumentation (STRI) programs. The LTRaC Multiple Award Contract (MAC) Lot 3 provides life-cycle product line management, engineering, and manufacturing for fielded and new instrumentation systems supporting live training ranges across the U.S. Army’s home-stations and Combat Training Centers (CTCs).Under LTRaC MAC Lot 3, Cubic will compete to provide complex life-cycle support activities for live training ranges and instrumentation systems. The program’s scope includes Continuous Technology Refreshments (CTRs), modernization, studies, and developmental efforts for the CTCs, live fire ranges, HITS, Synthetic Training Environment-Live Training Systems (STE-LTS), and the Joint Pacific Multinational Readiness Center-Instrumentation System (JPMRC-IS). The program will include updates and engineering support for the U.S. Army Live Training Transformation (LTS) processes and standards. 11 Apr 25.

 

11 Apr 25. US Army selects Duality for anti-drone system development. The AiTDR system is being designed and developed to protect personnel on board a vehicle by detecting and recognising drone threats. The US Army’s XM30 Program Office has contracted Duality AI for the development of a counter-drone AI Target Detection and Recognition (AiTDR) system. Duality AI is the developer of Falcon, a platform specialising in digital twin simulations. The AiTDR system is being designed and developed to protect personnel on board a vehicle by detecting and recognising drone threats.  To facilitate this, the Army’s Project Linchpin, focused on AI and Machine Learning, will collaborate with the Army Research Lab (ARL) to use synthetic data from Falcon’s virtual sensors.  (Source: army-technology.com)

16 Apr 25. Serco, the international provider of critical services to governments, has today announced it has retained its contract to provide technical services to modernise the US Navy’s Guided Missile Frigates and ship systems. The contract has a one-year base period, plus four one-year options periods, with a total estimated value of $96 m. Under this contract, Serco is supporting planning, design, construction and delivery for the missile frigates and ships, as well as systems integration and testing services.

04 Apr 25. Intelsat secures USSF contract to provide Maritime satellite connectivity. Intelsat has been awarded a U.S. Space Force (USSF) contract to provide commercial satellite communications bandwidth, equipment and services to the U.S. Defense Department (DoD) for global maritime coverage. The 12-month task order is part of the proliferated Low Earth Orbit (pLEO), 10-year, indefinite delivery, indefinite quantity (IDIQ) contract vehicle, established in 2023 to allow the DoD streamlined access to the growing number of Low Earth Orbit (LEO) SATCOM services offered via authorized resellers and operators to optimize and enhance all-domain communications. For this task order, Intelsat will deliver satellite capacity services in support of global maritime operations for multiple government end users. 13 Apr 25. Rocket Lab has been selected by the U.S. Air Force to participate within its Enterprise-Wide Agile Acquisition Contract (EWAAC), a $46bn indefinite delivery-indefinite quantity (IDIQ) contract designed for the rapid acquisition of innovative technologies, engineering services, and technical solutions that develop the Air Force’s new capabilities. The program has a contracting period through to 2031 and is designed to be broad in scope, flexible in funding, and agile for maximum use to enable the Air Force to quickly procure services and technologies across various domains. 16 Apr 25. PsiQuantumannounced a $10.8m contract with the Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) in Rome, N.Y., continuing a partnership that began in 2022. This phase will give AFRL a design space for comparative quantum circuits on PsiQuantum’s circuit tapeout, part of its ongoing Omega quantum chipset manufacturing with GlobalFoundries. As AFRL’s hardware design partner, PsiQuantum will supply its high-performance Barium Titanate (BTO) Electro-Optic phase shifters and integrate BTO into AFRL-designed optical circuits. PsiQuantum’s 300mm BTO material is believed to be the world’s highest-performing electro-switch material. The company will also provide essential quantum circuit components. Once designed, constructed, and screened for performance, the company will deliver these completed chips to AFRL, who will then validate their capabilities to address other Air Force use cases. 07 Apr 25.  Pearson Engineering, has been awarded a contract by Hanwha Defence Australia (HDA) for the supply of 131 combat dozer blades to be integrated with the Redback Infantry Fighting Vehicle (IFV) under LAND 400 Phase 3. The contract follows the extensive risk mitigation activity (RMA) in Australia to prove the operational functionality and durability of the combat dozer blade. Initiatives to localise the supply of the front-end equipment (FEE) are underway with the formation of a team of suppliers that will provide fabrications, hydraulic components, harnesses, assembly and testing as part of Pearson Engineering’s Australian Industrial Content (AIC) commitment. The Combat Dozer Blade will be integrated with Redback via a Pearson Engineering Vehicle Interface Kit which is designed to accept a wide range of FEE from within Pearson Engineering’s proven range of products. 14 Apr 25. Rolls-Royce – Israel – Eitan Powerpack Engines. The State Department has made a determination approving a possible Foreign Military Sale to the Government of Israel of Eitan Powerpack Engines and related equipment for an estimated cost of $180m. The Defense Security Cooperation Agency delivered the required certification notifying Congress. The Government of Israel has requested to buy additional Eitan 8V199TE21-D powerpack engines and engine components that will be added to a previously implemented case whose value was under the congressional notification threshold. The original Foreign Military Sales (FMS) case, valued at $85.5m ($0 in MDE), included Eitan 8V199TE21-D powerpack engines and engine components; U.S. Government and contractor technical assistance; contractor non-recurring engineering; and other related elements of logistics and program support. This notification is for a combined notification of non-MDE Eitan 8V199TE21-D powerpack engines and engine components; U.S. Government and contractor technical assistance; contractor non-recurring engineering; and other related elements of logistics and program support. The estimated total cost is $180m. The United States is committed to the security of Israel, and it is vital to U.S. national interests to assist Israel to develop and maintain a strong and ready self-defense capability. This proposed sale is consistent with those objectives. The proposed sale will enhance Israel’s capability to meet current and future threats by improving its ability to defend Israel’s borders, vital infrastructure, and population centers. This proposed sale will increase the interoperability with U.S. forces and conveys U.S. commitment to Israel’s security and armed forces modernization. Israel will have no difficulty absorbing this equipment into its armed forces. The proposed sale of this equipment and support will not alter the basic military balance in the region. The principal contractor will be Rolls-Royce Solutions America, Inc., located in Novi, MI. At this time, the U.S. Government is not aware of any offset agreement proposed in connection with this potential sale. 16 Apr 25. RTX – Kingdom of Morocco – FIM-92K Stinger Block I Missiles. The State Department has made a determination approving a possible Foreign Military Sale to the Kingdom of Morocco of FIM-92K Stinger Block I missiles and related equipment for an estimated cost of $825m. The Defense Security Cooperation Agency delivered the required certification notifying Congress of this possible sale today. The Kingdom of Morocco has requested to buy up to six hundred (600) FIM-92K Stinger Block I missiles. The following non-MDE items will also be included: U.S. Government and contractor engineering, logistics, and technical support services; and other related elements of logistics and program support. The estimated total cost is $825m. This proposed sale will support the foreign policy and national security of the United States by helping to improve the security of a major non-NATO ally that continues to be an important force for political stability and economic progress in North Africa. The proposed sale will improve Morocco’s capability to meet current and future threats. Morocco intends to use these defense articles and services to modernize its armed forces and expand its existing army short range air defense options. This will contribute to the Moroccan Army’s goals of updating capability and further enhancing interoperability with the U.S. and other allies. Morocco will have no difficulty absorbing this equipment into its armed forces. The proposed sale of this equipment and support will not alter the basic military balance in the region. The principal contractors will be RTX Corporation, located in Tucson, AZ; and Lockheed Martin, located in Syracuse, NY. At this time, the U.S. Government is not aware of any offset agreement proposed in connection with this potential sale. Any offset agreement will be defined in negotiations between the purchaser and the contractor. 11 Apr 25. Kraken Robotics Receives $11m of SeaPower Battery Orders. Kraken Robotics Inc. (“Kraken” or the “Company”) (TSX-V: PNG, OTCQB: KRKNF) announces that it has received new orders totaling $11m for SeaPower™ pressure tolerant batteries for uncrewed underwater vehicles (UUVs). This brings year-to-date new battery orders to $45m, driven predominantly by UUVs for the defense industry. SeaPower batteries are unique in that they do not require a pressure housing or oil compensation to withstand deep ocean pressures. The modular batteries are encased in a proprietary silicon polymer matrix, which resists compression and tolerates pressures up to 660 Bar, the equivalent of 6000 meters ocean depth. SeaPower’s high energy density provides safe, reliable power, enabling UUVs to complete longer, more complex missions. Kraken is well-positioned for continued strong growth in its subsea power business. 14 Apr 25. Navantia Will Enhance the Capability of Royal Thai Navy Amphibious Ship. Navantia will support the Royal Thai Navy (RTN) in its project to enhance the capability of the landing platform dock (LPD) HTMS Chang (792). The contract includes the provision and integration of the combat management system (CMS), surveillance system, fire control system (FCS), weapon system, gyros, and other related technologies. Navantia will equip the HTMS Chang with some of its most cutting-edge naval systems, including the CATIZ CMS and DORNA FCS, ensuring the RTN benefits from the most advanced capabilities available. Navantia has a longstanding relationship with the RTN, having previously supplied the HTMS Chakri Naruebet (911), the flagship of the RTN fleet. This new contract not only strengthens the ties between Navantia and the RTN but also boosts local skills and industry through collaboration with the Mahidol Dockyard. This partnership paves the way for future projects and further cooperation. 17 Apr 25. The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine’s enterprise, the Defense Procurement Agency, has signed contracts with 76 manufacturers of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). According to Ukrinform, this was announced by Defense Minister Rustem Umerov on Facebook. “As of today, the Defense Procurement Agency has signed contracts with 76 UAV manufacturers. Among them: 36 drone manufacturers, 14 bomber-copter manufacturers, 12 reconnaissance drone and wing-type drone manufacturers, five deep-strike drone manufacturers with a range of 400+ km, five reusable strike aircraft manufacturers, three short-range kamikaze aircraft manufacturers, one manufacturer of aerial targets for air defense needs,” Umerov reported. The minister noted that in 2024–2025, the Ministry of Defense has already allocated over 104 bn UAH to Ukrainian drone manufacturers. “These contracts are part of a larger strategy for the technological rearmament of the Defense Forces and the development of national defense production. We are building an army capable of acting mobile, fast, and one step ahead of the enemy,” Umerov added. The Minister of Defense also thanked Ukrainian manufacturers for their determination, innovation, and readiness to scale up solutions for the front. 16 Apr 25.  Leonardo – The Government of the Philippines has requested to buy the following defense articles and services: TH-73A training helicopters; aircraft simulator; spare engines; pack up kits; fuel tanks; aircraft hoists and lifts; commercial avionics; commercial flight management systems; commercial Global Positioning Systems; shipping containers; support and test equipment; consumables and accessories; integration and test support; repair and return support; spare and repair parts; unclassified software delivery and support; unclassified publications and technical documentation; personnel training and commercial training equipment; U.S. Government and contractor engineering, technical, logistics, and transportation support services, including in-country representative support; studies and surveys; and other related elements of logistics and program support. The estimated total cost is $120m. The principal contractor will be AgustaWestland Philadelphia Corporation (Leonardo), located in Philadelphia, PA. At this time, the U.S. Government is not aware of any offset agreement proposed in connection with this potential sale.
