19 Mar 25. Kilo Solutions has secured a contract with the Royal Navy for the supply of 24 VASCO in a Box (VIAB) units.  This marks the company’s second defence contract.  VIAB is a transportable training system designed for onboard immersive training that is independent of local According to Kilo Solutions, this system allows bridge watchkeeping, mission rehearsal, and skill fade mitigation, with a swift setup time of less than ten minutes.  Each VIAB unit is housed in a Peli case, ensuring that it can withstand the rigours of operational deployment.   The case contains four Meta Quest headsets, which provide a collaborative virtual reality training environment.  Additionally, a dedicated router is included to establish a secure, standalone local area network.  The units are also equipped with a preconfigured laptop loaded with VASCO Planner software along with a quick start guide.  (Source: naval-technology.com)

21 Mar 25. Curtiss-Wright Corporation (NYSE: CW) today announced that it has been awarded multiple contracts to provide its turret drive aiming and stabilization technology to Rheinmetall for use on the German Army’s Boxer Heavy Weapon Carrier and the Hungarian Ministry of Defence (MoD’s) Lynx infantry fighting vehicles (IFV). Under the agreements, Curtiss-Wright will supply Rheinmetall’s Vehicle Systems Europe and Vehicle Systems International divisions with its cost-effective, scalable Turret Drive Stabilization System (TDSS) and other system components in support of these programs. Curtiss-Wright’s TDSS will enable these ground vehicles to maintain target location accuracy and precise turret stabilization, even while moving at full speed. Further, it uniquely enables system designers to upgrade and add stabilization functionality as mission requirements change, allowing system integrators to choose the right level of motion control and stability for the platform. Curtiss-Wright’s facility, located in Neuhausen am Rheinfall, Switzerland, will provide Rheinmetall with state-of-the-art modular TDSS, associated hand controllers, and equipment to control the medium caliber LANCE turret on the Boxer Heavy Weapon Carrier to be supplied to the German Army. Shipments are scheduled to run through 2029. Curtiss-Wright will also deliver its state-of-the-art TDSS and associated controllers to Rheinmetall for use on the Hungarian MoD’s Lynx IFV. During Phase 1 of the contract, Curtiss-Wright will deliver TDSS systems solely manufactured in Switzerland. During Phase 2, additional TDSS systems will be manufactured in Switzerland and Australia. In support of both phases, Curtiss-Wright will leverage its global partner network for the manufacture of the TDSS system gyroscopes, building on the preferred supplier network that the Company has established to support Rheinmetall ground vehicle programs globally. Under the contract, shipments are scheduled to run through 2027.

 

11 Mar 25. OCCAR-EA1 Director Joachim Sucker, on behalf of France, Italy and the UK, and eurosam Managing Director Anne Diaz De Tuesta signed the 15th Amendment for the FSAF-PAAMS2 Sustainment & Enhancement (S&E) Contract. This new contract amendment covers the production of a new batch of Aster 30 B1 ground and naval missiles, and Aster 15 naval missiles. It focuses on the improvement of the European production capabilities for the Aster missiles in order to accelerate and increase the production for the Ground and Naval Air Defence systems employed by the three nations’ forces (French Air Force, Italian Air Force and Army, French, Italian and UK Navies). Thanks to this contractual change, eurosam and MBDA will enable OCCAR-EA to deliver the variants of the Aster family (Aster 15 & Aster 30) to the nations, within a shorter timeframe. OCCAR-EA and eurosam are proud to have placed this new contract amendment having worked closely with the national entities in charge of defence equipment procurement (Italian SGD3, French DGA4 and UK DE&S5). This amendment is a further catalyst that promotes and reinforces the existing cooperation amongst the three nations supported by OCCAR-EA. OCCAR-EA, eurosam, MBDA and Thales will therefore continue to lead the way to provide upgraded Air-Defence systems6 to face increasingly more challenging threats for the benefit of the French and Italian Air Forces, Italian Army and the three Navies.

17 Mar 25. Rafael Advanced Defense Systems Ltd. and Elbit Systems Ltd. have been awarded a contract to supply a cutting-edge Naval Decoy Control & Launching System (DCLS) to protect the new Frigates of NATO European countries. The contract, set to be executed over a period of four years, includes the delivery of systems for 5 vessels. The agreement is part of a joint program between RAFAEL and Elbit, and will provide an integrated solution from both companies, featuring Elbit’s state-of-the-art operational DESEAVER MK-4 Stabilized and Trainable DCLS, along with a range of RAFAEL’s high-end decoy countermeasures. RAFAEL’s passive and active decoy countermeasures were designed to effectively neutralize threats such as advanced Anti-Ship Missile (ASM) seekers. RAFAEL’s family of passive RF and IR decoy countermeasures, such as BEAM TRAP, SMOKE TRAP and WIZARD has undergone a significant recent upgrade with the addition of the C-GEM active decoy, developed specifically to counter the most threatening adversary ASMs. Elbit’s DESEAVER MK-4 Countermeasure Dispensing System (CMDS) is an advanced maritime Electronic Warfare (EW) solution designed to effectively counter complex missile attack scenarios. The system is part of Elbit’s advanced integrated EW suite, which enables high situational awareness in the maritime arena and the ability to counter various threats. The combination of the suite’s ECM capabilities with the launcher’s decoy system enhances the ship’s defense capabilities against different threats. The integrated system fires various types of decoy rounds from multiple launchers to counter simultaneous threats, positioning it as the fourth generation of naval EW dispensing systems that enhance soft-kill anti-missile defense capabilities. The system consists of trainable and stabilized launchers, capable of rapidly and accurately deploying decoys selected by anti-missile algorithms. It supports the launch of both passive and active decoys and is fully integrated with other ship combat systems. The solution enables the transition from legacy fixed Decoy Launching Systems to the DESEAVER MK-4 an operational trainable and stabilized DLS, combining both passive and active decoy countermeasures. This will significantly enhance the vessel’s survivability in modern combat scenarios.

 

18 Mar 25. Thales, a long-standing partner of both Naval Group and the Royal Netherlands Navy, will provide a comprehensive suite of high-performance sonar systems for the future class of submarines that will replace the Walrus-class vessels in service today. The contract will provide the submarines with a comprehensive picture of the underwater acoustic environment, helping the Netherlands to guarantee operational superiority. The sonar suite features high-performance acoustic sensors, including bow, flank and obstacle-avoidance sonars, an intercept array, a passive towed-array sonar, an underwater voice communication system, an echo-sounder and signal processing racks. This cohesive suite of equipment will provide an unprecedented panoramic view of the underwater environment, making it possible to detect, locate and classify all types of threats at short, medium and long range across a wide range of frequencies.

BAE Systems Land & Armaments LP, Sterling Heights, Michigan, is awarded a $188,455,777 firm-fixed-price modification to a previously awarded contract (M67854-16-C-0006) for Amphibious Combat Vehicles (ACV). The total value of the contract if all options are exercised is $3,859,315,575. This contract modification provides for the exercise of options for the procurement of 30 full rate production ACV medium caliber cannon mission role variants and associated production, and fielding and support costs. Work will be performed in York, Pennsylvania (60%); Aiken, South Carolina (15%); San Jose, California (15%); Sterling Heights, Michigan (5%); and Stafford, Virginia (5%), with an expected completion date of August 2028. Fiscal 2025 procurement (Marine Corps) in the amount of $188,455,777 will be obligated at the time of award and will not expire at the end of the current fiscal year. 20 Mar 25. US Army selects Boeing for the next phase of Indirect Fire Protection Capability mid-range interceptor program. As reported by AirPower 2.0 on March 20, 2025, Boeing has been selected by the U.S. Army to advance to the next phase of the Indirect Fires Protection Capability (IFPC) Increment 2 Second Interceptor competition, which is focused on developing a medium-range interceptor to enhance the defense of fixed and forward operating bases. The program aims to fill the capability gap between short-range and long-range air defense systems against low-flying, mid-range threats, including cruise missiles and unmanned aerial systems (UAS). Boeing’s proposal incorporates a Modular Open Systems Approach (MOSA) to allow rapid technology integration. The company has stated that its design provides increased magazine depth, greater speed to target, extended range, and improved maneuverability. The proposal leverages expertise from multiple missile programs, including the PAC-3 interceptor, Ground-Based Midcourse Defense, Avenger, Harpoon, and SLAM-ER. 19 Mar 25. ELTA North America to evaluate M3S2 for US DoD. The suite is tailored for both tracked and wheeled vehicles and includes a range of tactical sensors. ELTA North America, based in Maryland, US, has secured a contract from the US Department of Defense (DoD) to assess the capabilities of the new multi-mission/multi-sensor suite (M3S2).  The M3S2 is designed to enhance situational awareness with a low size, weight, and power (SWaP) footprint, and provide defensive options for military vehicles and assets. This system integrates radar and electro-optical sensors into a compact package, offering active protection, counter-uncrewed aerial systems, and advanced ground surveillance.  (Source: army-technology.com)

InDyne Inc., Lexington Park, Maryland, has been awarded an $89,902,563 modification (P00059) to a previously awarded contract (FA2518-22-C-0001) for Solid State Phased Array Radar Systems and Long-Range Discrimination Radar support, exercising Option Year 7. This modification brings the total cumulative face value of the contract to $384,723,485 from $294,820,922. Work will be performed at Beale Air Force Base, California; Cape Cod Space Force Station, Massachusetts; Clear SFS, Anderson, Alaska; Pituffik Space Base, Greenland; Cheyenne Mountain SFS, Colorado; and Royal Air Force Fylingdales, United Kingdom, and is expected to be complete by April 30, 2026. Fiscal 2025 operation and maintenance funds in the amount of $89,634,609; and fiscal 2025 and 2026 research and development funds in the amount of $340,038, are being obligated at the time of award. 17 Mar 25. Lockheed Martin Corp., Liverpool, New York, was awarded a $213,001,070 modification (P00063) to contract W31P4Q-19-C-0058 for Sentinel radar systems and spares growth kits. Work will be performed in Liverpool, New York, with an estimated completion date of Sept. 13, 2027. Fiscal 2024 other procurement, Army funds in the amount of $213,001,070 were obligated at the time of the award. Army Contracting Command, Redstone Arsenal, Alabama, is the contracting activity.

19 Mar 25. BlueHalo, the company transforming the future of global defense through industry-leading underwater robotic systems, today announced it has been awarded a $30,735,784 contract to provide systems engineering and support services for BlueHalo’s Mission Specialist Defender systems, the Maritime Expeditionary Standoff Response (MESR) remotely operated vehicle (ROV). The five-year contract was issued by the Naval Information Warfare Center (NIWC) Pacific and supports the U.S. Navy’s ongoing operations utilizing the Mission Specialist Defender systems. The award follows the U.S. Navy’s $92.6m MESR contract awarded to VideoRay in May 2024 and further reinforces the company’s role in supporting the U.S. Navy with advanced underwater robotic technology for expeditionary missions, mine countermeasures, and underwater security. 19 Mar 25. Huntington Ingalls Industries’ (HII) Mission Technologies division has secured a $147m contract aimed at bolstering combat training services for the US Navy.  This contract was obtained under the SeaPort Next Generation multiple award contract indefinite delivery/indefinite quantity vehicle.  Over the span of five years, HII will deliver engineering support for the US Naval Surface Warfare Center Dahlgren Division, Dam Neck Activity’s (NSWCDD DNA) training systems.   This support will encompass all related hardware, software, subsystems, and components.  The contract will cover several tasks, ranging from the installation and certification of integrated training system hardware and software to system testing, troubleshooting, repair, and lifecycle maintenance. The work stipulated by the contract will be conducted across various locations within the US and internationally.  (Source: naval-technology.com)

Lockheed Martin Missiles and Fire Control, Orlando, Florida, has been awarded a $122,573,576 contract modification (P00022) to a previously awarded contract (FA8682-19-C-0008) to procure tooling and test equipment needed to increase production quantities of Joint Air-to-Surface Standoff Missile and Long-Range Anti-Ship Missile. The location of performance is Orlando, Florida, and is expected to be complete by July 14, 2028. The award is the result of sole-source acquisition. 14 Mar 25. General Electric Aerospace, Cincinnati, Ohio, has been awarded a firm-fixed-price, indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity $5,000,000,000 ceiling contract for F110 Foreign Military Sales (FMS) engines. This contract provides five years of pricing for F110-129 install and spare engines, with modernized engine monitoring system computers and spare engine accessories supporting FMS customers. Work will be performed at Cincinnati, Ohio; and San Antonio, Texas, and is expected to be complete by Dec. 31, 2030. This contract involves FMS to the Royal Saudi Air Force, and will include Royal Jordanian Air Force, Bulgaria, and any other implemented Letters of Offer and Acceptance sole-source directed to General Electric for F110 Engines. This award is the result of a sole-source acquisition. Implemented FMS case funds in the amount of $41,730,433 are being obligated at the time of award. 18 Mar 25. KBR (NYSE: KBR) announced it has been awarded an estimated $229m recompete task order under the Department of Defense Information Analysis Center’s (DoDIAC) multiple-award contract (MAC) vehicle to provide life cycle research and analysis for U.S. Army Cargo Helicopter Systems. These DoD IAC MAC task orders are awarded by the U.S. Air Force’s 774 Enterprise Sourcing Squadron to develop and create new knowledge for the enhancement of the Defense Technical Information Center (DTIC) repository and the research and development and science and technology community. The work will be performed in Huntsville, Alabama over a period of five years. Under the terms of the contract, KBR will research, analyze, assess, and develop recommendations to increase availability, improve reliability, and reduce support costs for the CH-47 Chinook helicopter for Cargo Helicopter (CH) Project Management Office (PMO) and Foreign Military Sales (FMS) partners. To achieve this objective, KBR will perform maintainability, quality, supportability, and interoperability analyses and strategies. The team will also provide logistics management, testing program management, independent verification and validation, and life cycle and cost analyses to refine and improve sustainability initiatives.

 

20 Mar 25. L3Harris has secured a $90m follow-on contract from the US Space Force Space Systems Command to continue the modernisation of the nation’s Space Domain Awareness (SDA) programme. In February 2022, L3Harris was first selected by the USSF to integrate and expedite the ATLAS SDA programme.  The programme is claimed to be a priority for the Department of Defense (DoD). This follow-on contract tasks the company with developing, integrating, and delivering a suite of astrometric tools. These are designed to augment the capabilities of the Advanced Tracking and Launch Analysis System (ATLAS), which consolidates all relevant data for SDA, space command and control (C2), intelligence, operations, and system readiness.  The initiative to replace the Space Defence Operations Centre with ATLAS began in 2018 by the US Air Force.  The latest continuation contract aims to modernise C2 by enhancing the speed, accuracy, and relevance of tracking satellites and space debris.   (Source: airforce-technology.com)

17 Mar 25. KBR (NYSE: KBR) announced today it has been awarded a $176m cost plus fixed-fee, indefinite delivery indefinite quantity (IDIQ) contract by the Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) to provide operations and equipment maintenance support to the Air Force Maui Optical and Supercomputing Site (AMOS), in Maui, Hawaii.   The single award Advanced Space Technology Research and Optimization (ASTRO) contract has a $176m ceiling and will include multiple task orders. Under the terms of the contract, KBR will provide support in operating and maintaining advanced experimental equipment; processing and analyzing data; performing maintenance and upgrades; and managing the modernization of mission systems to support AFRL’s space research and development efforts at AMOS. This work is expected to be performed over a seven-year period of performance with KBR performing work with electro-optics, processing, analyzing and archiving data to improve models and simulation. Regular repairs and maintenance of equipment will be conducted. Throughout the lifecycle of the contract, KBR will maintain and archive detailed records of all system documentation to streamline quality configuration management.

 

18 Mar 25. Northrop Grumman Corporation (NYSE: NOC) was awarded a follow-on contract to help the U.S. Air Force connect airborne platforms with faster, secure communications solutions. Northrop Grumman will deliver NG InSight™, a software-programmable, open systems compliant processor designed to keep warfighters connected and adaptable in rapidly changing mission environments. Under this contract, the U.S. Air Force will continue to test and evaluate NG InSight™ capabilities for potentially supporting the future of the DAF Battle Network, the Department of the Air Force’s contribution to the Department of Defense’s Combined Joint All-Domain Command and Control initiative. As a part of the contract award, Northrop Grumman will:

* Demonstrate how the NG InSight™ open architecture processor allows the integration of third-party technologies, ensuring future growth, sustainability and adaptability.

Navantia Australia has been awarded the Designer Support Contract to provide comprehensive design and engineering support to all Navantia-designed ships in service with the Royal Australian Navy. 19 Mar 25. Australia – Countermeasures, Chaff, and Impulse Cartridges. The State Department has made a determination approving a possible Foreign Military Sale to the Government of Australia of Countermeasures, Chaff, and Impulse Cartridges and related equipment for an estimated cost of $165m. The Defense Security Cooperation Agency delivered the required certification notifying Congress of this possible sale today. The Government of Australia has requested to buy MJU-61 decoy flares; MJU-64 decoy flares; MJU-66 flare countermeasures; MJU-76 flare countermeasures; RR-198A/L chaff cartridges; CCU-145/A impulse cartridges; other support equipment (MK-3 pallet); U.S. Government and contractor technical assistance; and other related elements of logistics and program support. The estimated total cost is $165m. This proposed sale will support the foreign policy and national security objectives of the United States. Australia is one of our most important allies in the Western Pacific. The strategic location of this political and economic power contributes significantly to ensuring peace and economic stability in the Western Pacific. It is vital to the U.S. national interest to assist our ally in developing and maintaining a strong and ready self-defense capability. Raytheon Co., Tucson, Arizona, is awarded a $141,050,000 firm-fixed-price modification to a previously awarded contract (N00024-21-C-5411) to procure Standard Missile-2 (SM-2) production spares. This contract combines purchases for the governments of Japan (57%), Australia (19%), Netherlands (13%), Spain (6%), and Germany (5%) under the Foreign Military Sales (FMS) program. Work will be performed in East Camden, Arkansas (72%); and Tucson, Arizona (28%), and is expected to be completed by June 2030. Foreign Military Sales (FMS) (Japan) funds in the amount of $80,535,000 (57%); FMS (Australia) funds in the amount of $27,300,000 (19%); FMS (Netherlands) funds in the amount of $18,200,000 (13%); FMS (Spain) funds in the amount of $8,645,000 (6%); and FMS (Germany) funds in the amount of $6,370,000 (5%), will be obligated at time of award and will not expire at the end of the current fiscal year. 10 Mar 25. SKY Perfect JSAT selects Thales Alenia Space to build “JSAT-32” communications satellite. SKY Perfect JSAT Corporation and Thales Alenia Space have signed a contract to build the GEO communications satellite, “JSAT-32.” Operating in the Ku and Ka frequency bands, JSAT-32 will provide coverage over Japan and its surrounding seas, with newly added spot beams for mobility applications. JSAT-32 will serve as a future replacement for existing SKY Perfect JSAT satellites that provide communication and distribution services in Japan. As prime contractor, Thales Alenia Space will be responsible for the design, manufacturing, testing and delivery of the satellite to the designated launch pad. The company will also provide the associated ground segment. With a launch mass of 3.7 tons, JSAT-32 will be built on Thales Alenia Space’s Spacebus 4000B2 platform, renowned for its robustness, reliability and time-to-market efficiency. 11 Mar 25. Astrum Mobile selects SWISSto12 to manufacture NEASTAR-1 GEO satellite. Asia Pacific’s only Satellite-to-Device (S2D) company, Astrum Mobile will operate the very first Satellite-to-Device (S2D) platform delivering 5G Non-Terrestrial Network (NTN) service.  Astrum Mobile’s vision for a ubiquitous S2D service directly to end-user smartphones and smart devices is advancing with the selection of SWISSto12 as the manufacturer of the NEASTAR-1 satellite, based on the small geostationary HummingSat platform, to be operated from GEO position 105E over Asia Pacific covering the APAC region. 17 Mar 25. Honeywell (NASDAQ: HON) today announced it has been awarded a contract to deliver the AUKUS Submarine Industrial Base (SIB) pilot program. For this program, Honeywell will establish an enhanced security framework that will underpin a safer, more secure, reliable and effective technology transfer to activate Australian Industry to support the conventionally armed, nuclear-powered Virginia–Class Submarine production, sustainment, and operational readiness. The contract was awarded by BlueForge Alliance on behalf of the AUKUS Acquisition and Integration Office of the U.S. Navy. The AUKUS enhanced trilateral security partnership between Australia, the United Kingdom, and the United States was announced in 2021 and is designed to support security and stability in the Indo-Pacific region. The partnership strengthens the combined industrial capacity of the three countries, with increased cooperation making trilateral supply chains more robust and resilient. One of the priorities for the AUKUS partnership is to develop the nuclear stewardship required to grow Australia’s ability to secure the supply chain for the Virginia–Class Submarine programs. This will involve a network of suppliers and partners powered by a local workforce of more than 30,000 people in Australia and 100,000 in the United States. Following the contract award, Honeywell will support the AUKUS SIB pilot program team by establishing a secure network of suppliers and partners to support production and operation submarine fleet. Honeywell is working on the program with U.S.-based partners that include Orbis Sibro Inc., Argus Enterprises and Massa Products Corporation as well as Australian partner Senetas. Additional Australian companies are also expected to be selected during the pilot program. Together, this team will deliver the AUKUS SIB pilot program over the next two years. Singapore’s Defence Science and Technology Agency (DSTA) has signed a contract with Oracle for an Oracle Cloud Isolated Region that supports the Ministry of Defence (MINDEF) and Singapore Armed Forces (SAF).  The collaboration between DSTA and Oracle will enable MINDEF and the SAF to gain access to high-performance, air-gapped, and secure sovereign cloud computing, data management, and artificial intelligence (AI) services in a secured environment. The use of Oracle Cloud Isolated Region will transform the Command, Control, Communications and Computers (C4) functions of the SAF, and will modernize its digital capabilities with increased scalability and performance. Under this agreement, the Digital and Intelligence Service can use Oracle’s air-gapped cloud services to accelerate innovation and deployment of AI for the SAF’s missions. Oracle Cloud Isolated Region is a sovereign air-gapped hyperscale Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) region that offers the same services that are available in a public OCI region. Oracle Cloud Isolated Region is completely disconnected from the internet and provides MINDEF and SAF with a scalable, secure, and resilient environment to enhance insights and enable faster decision-making.
