04 Mar 25. The Ministry of Defence intends to award a contract for maritime maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) as part of ongoing support for the Royal Navy’s fleet. The contract, issued under Defence and Security Public Contracts Regulations (DSPCR) 2011, falls within the Power, Propulsion, and Auxiliaries (PPA) Team, which operates within the Defence Equipment Support (DES) Ships Operating Centre. The contract award notice, published on 28 February 2025, confirms that Scott Aerospace (Bristol) and Basetek (Ipswich) have been selected as suppliers for marine electrical items under the existing framework agreement. The contract duration is three months, running from 12 February to 14 May 2025, with a value ranging from £1 to £317m. The framework agreement is designed to ensure global support for Royal Naval platforms, covering essential repairs and overhauls. Due to commercial sensitivities, the call-off price for this specific contract has not been disclosed. The MOD has also acknowledged that the size of the Royal Navy’s fleet may fluctuate during the contract period, affecting future maintenance requirements. 04 Mar 25. Ultra Maritime has been awarded a GBP18m (USD23m) contract by the UK Ministry of Defence (MoD) to supply sonobuoys for the Royal Navy’s (RN’s) Merlin HM2 maritime helicopter. Announcing the contract in February, the company said the award – covering sonobuoy engineering, manufacturing, logistics, and support – will ensure that the RN “maintains a persistent ASW [anti-submarine warfare] surveillance capability detecting, locating, and tracking hostile submarines”.
Janes understands that the order includes both SSQ-926 Active Low Frequency Electro-Acoustic (ALFEA) and SSQ-955 High Instantaneous Dynamic range Analysis and Recording (HIDAR) sonobuoys. Ultra Maritime is currently investing in a new state-of-the-art manufacturing facility at its Greenford site in west London. 07 Mar 25. New UK-made space system to help protect military satellites. Innovative UK-made tech will help the military monitor space following a new £65m deal agreed today, in British Science Week. The Borealis command, control and data processing system will help the UK military the UK Space Agency to better monitor and protect satellites, through new software which compiles and processes data from multiple sources, more quickly, to monitor space. The £65m deal with CGI UK, an IT systems integration specialist, will support around 100 skilled jobs in Leatherhead, Reading and Bristol, boosting the UK’s space capabilities and delivering on the Government’s Plan for Change. The new technology will provide UK military with a better understanding of the Space Domain, improving military commanders decision-making process and supporting operations, both at home and overseas. Under the five-year contract, Borealis will provide software for the National Space Operations Centre, which develops and operates the UK’s space surveillance and protection capabilities. The deployment of Camero-Tech’s Xaver™ systems will significantly enhance the ability of first responders to detect and locate survivors in disaster-stricken areas. Recently, a successful training of Camero-Tech’s Sense-Through-Wall systems was conducted at the Regional Fire Department headquarters in Rome. During the training, USAR teams from multiple regions., were instructed how to use the technology in real-world disaster scenarios. The systems effectively detected live individuals trapped behind walls and under rubble, demonstrating their superior accuracy and reliability in search and rescue operations. 04 Mar 25. Sectra (STO: SECT B) has received new orders from Swedish authorities and existing partnerships are being expanded. The orders cover the further development of existing systems for secure communication as well as new deliveries. These solutions enable secure communication of highly classified information between and within authorities and will contribute to further strengthening the ability of Swedish civil and military defense to communicate securely and efficiently. The orders include additional stationary phones with conference call functionality from the Tiger/S product family. This solution has been developed for communication of classified information concerning national security, up to the classification level SECRET. The Tiger/S system is also approved for handling information up to the classification level EU SECRET and NATO SECRET.
06 Mar 25. Volvo Defense Receives Major Order from the Swedish Armed Forces. Volvo has delivered hundreds of trucks to the Swedish Armed Forces for several years, and now it is taking the next step with a major order for 300 flatbed trucks with an option for an additional 200 vehicles. The latest order from the Swedish Defence Materiel Administration aims to support the growth of the Swedish Armed Forces. The trucks from Volvo Defense, a business unit within Volvo Group, will help meet the need to transport materiel and supplies to units around Sweden. The order includes 300 units of the Volvo FMX 6×6 flatbed truck with tarpaulin cover and tail lift, with an option for an additional 200 vehicles. 06 Mar 25. Rheinmetall supplying eight MLG27-4.0 to Damen Naval for German Navy’s new F126-class frigates. The German technology group Rheinmetall has received an order from Dutch shipbuilder Damen Naval to supply eight state-of-the-art MLG27-4.0 defence systems for the F126-class frigates it is currently building for the German Navy. Each frigate will be equipped with two MLG27-4.0 systems. The order is worth a figure in the two-digit m-euro range and includes an option for equipping two additional F126-class frigates. The 27mm cal. MLG27 4.0 light naval gun is a member of the new SeaSnake RCWS family of products made by Rheinmetall Waffe Munition GmbH of Unterlüß, Germany, a Group subsidiary with multiple locations. The core element of the remotely controlled MLG27 4.0 is the BK-27M revolver gun. In use throughout the German Navy, the predecessor of the new MLG27 4.0 serves as secondary armament on Germany’s current F125 frigates. Compared to previous models, the next-generation MLG27-4.0 defence system features a series of technological innovations. It is a highly advanced ship defence system equipped with daylight cameras, infrared sensors and laser rangefinders, and can be integrated into an existing shipboard command system, taking full account of all applicable IT and OT security requirements. Moreover, its new, fully digital system architecture enables direct impact on external target coordinates in standard WGS-84 format. The 27mm cal. revolver gun can operate in single-shot mode, in adjustable bursts, or at a sustained rate fire of up to 1,700 rounds per minute. Its low weight and adjustable grid-firing capability, coupled with an integrated simultaneous tracker, make the MLG27-4.0 weapon system a powerful armament for modern frigates such as the F126 class. In combination with other weapon systems envisaged by Damen Naval for the project, the F126 frigates will feature a comprehensive, highly effective array of armament that delivers a critical tactical edge against a multitude of threats. 28 Feb 25. Rohde & Schwarz has partnered with ELT Group to deliver components for electronic warfare (EW) systems in support of German and Polish Navy frigate projects. The systems will be installed on Germany’s F124 class frigates and Poland’s new Miecznick class multirole frigates. This collaboration leverages ELT Group’s ability to meet the technical and commercial criteria set by Rohde & Schwarz. The Sachsen Class (F124) frigates, Germany’s air defence ships, are constructed by ARGE F124, a consortium comprising Blohm + Voss, Howaldtwerke-Deutsche Werft, and Thyssen Nordseewerke. 06 Mar 25. Pilatus has revealed that the French Air and Space Force is set to receive the new PC-7 MKX aircraft for basic military pilot training. The trainer was chosen by the French Procurement Agency, Direction Générale de l’Armement (DGA). The introduction of a fleet of 22 PC-7 MKX aircraft is scheduled for 2027. In early 2025, Babcock France was awarded the “Mentor 2” tender, securing a 17-year contract to deliver training services using the PC-7 MKX. The training package also includes ground-based training tools, developed in part through collaboration with the French industry. 03 Mar 25. Saab has received an order for maintenance and modernisation of the cruise missile TAURUS KEPD 350. The order value is SEK 1.7 bn and the contract period is 2025-2035. The order includes significant system upgrades and modernisation to the German Air Force’s TAURUS missiles as well as a ten-year life cycle maintenance. Saab received the order from the German prime contractor TAURUS Systems, a joint venture between MBDA Germany and Saab. The initial order was placed by Germany’s defence procurement office (BAAINBw) to TAURUS Systems.

The US Army has quietly selected two companies to develop and test autonomous logistics trucks, with officials hoping to get them into the fleet as soon as 2027 — if budgets allow.
Officials from the Army and the Defense Innovation Unit (DIU) told Breaking Defense Tuesday that both Carnegie Robotics and Forterra have been selected to move forward with prototyping work on the Autonomous Transport Vehicle System (ATV-S) ahead of a mid-fiscal 2026 decision point that could narrow the field to a single winner. Curtiss-Wright’s Defense Solutions Division received a follow-on order from the U.S. Marine Corps, PEO Land Systems, via Defense Logistics Agency – Tailored Logistic Support (DLA-TLS) contract, to provide its Modular Open Systems Approach (MOSA) based tactical communications technology for use in the Application Server Module (ASM), part of the Combat Data Network (CDN) program. Under the contract, Curtiss-Wright will supply PEO Land Systems with its size, weight and power (SWaP) optimized PacStar® 400-Series technology, including the PacStar 451 Server, PacStar 453 GPU Enhanced Server, and PacStar 448 10-port 10 GbE Switch modules. These products provide small form factor (SFF) ruggedized compute and switching capability at the tactical edge, significantly improving mobility and enhancing speed of deployment while improving transmission rates and data access. The contract is valued at approximately $18 million and follows an earlier order in 2023 in support of the CDN/ASM program valued at more than $15m.

Elbit Systems of America (Elbit America) is one of the suppliers awarded a contract from the Defense Logistics Agency Land at Aberdeen valued at a maximum of $135m for white phosphor image intensification tubes to be used in the AN/PVS-14 Monocular Night Vision Device (PVS-14). The intensification tubes are slated for use by the United States Army. Work under the firm fixed-price Indefinite Delivery/Indefinite Quantity contract will be performed through Jan. 30, 2030 out of the company’s Roanoke, Va. facility. A force-multiplier for ground-based Soldiers with a history of proven performance, the PVS-14 is essential for engagement in low-light and no-light conditions. 24 Feb 25. Global Konet contracted to upgrade Korean Marine Navy trucks with ESA antennas. Global Konet has been contracted to improve the mobile satellite vehicles of the Korea Marine navy—these antennas are based on tactical trucks that are equipped with SATCOM terminals in containers in addition to dish antennas. The Marine Navy’s existing satellite system on the tactical trucks used a 2.4 meter, dish, X-band antenna for tactical containers in operational areas, and they required more than an hour of service preparation time after movement to operational locations. With this upgrade, the military will leverage the Ka-band communications network of the new Anasis II satellite that will enable faster communication. The transition to Global Konet’s flat-panel ESA OTM (On-The-Move) Omega2 antenna allows for service activation within 10 minutes and delivers services while in motion. Additionally, the previous flyway dish antenna weighed 120 kg and required various components, such as TWTA, LNA as well as intermediate frequency converters. To understand how the two are related and to develop reliable and objective predictors of team performance, Charles River Analytics is working on a Bio-Behavioral Team Dynamics Measurement System (BioTDMS). 04 Mar 25. Cubic announces FMS award to deliver its Live Training Systems (LTS) product lines to support Force-on-Force (FoF) and Force-on-Target (FOT) training programs in the Indo-Pacific region. The advanced training solutions enable the region’s partners to conduct realistic, interoperable and effective training exercises, providing operational readiness, designed to perform seamlessly with U.S. Partner and Allied Forces. The program award will provide the host country Cubic’s LTS-Soldier and LTS-Vehicle systems, the combined systems support multi-code laser standards, supporting interoperability with multiple live training systems. The program includes Cubic’s CATS Metrix Exercise Control (EXCON) software and its LTS-Instrumentation systems, supporting the country’s ability to conduct instrumented After Action Reviews (AARs). 02 Mar 25. Thales £1.6bn deal provides thousands of air defence missiles for Ukraine and boosts UK jobs and growth. Deal will create 200 jobs in Northern Ireland and provide 5000 air defence missiles to Ukraine. 200 new jobs will be created and hundreds more supported at one of the UK’s leading defence manufacturers, after a £1.6bn deal was announced by the Prime Minister today to supply thousands of advanced air defence missiles to Ukraine. The latest measures in the UK’s support for Ukraine to achieve peace through strength, the deal will also provide a major boost to the UK economy and support 700 existing jobs at Thales in Belfast, which will manufacture more than 5,000 lightweight-multirole missiles (LMM) for Ukraine’s defence. The deal will see production of LMMs at Thales’s factory treble and will also benefit companies in the Thales Supply Chain across the UK – putting more money in working people’s pockets. It is the largest contract ever received by Thales in Belfast and the second largest MOD has placed with Thales, building on a previous contract with Thales, signed in September 2024 for 650 missiles.
