30 Dec 24. Aselsan, a prominent Turkish defence company, has signed an agreement with the Presidency of Defence Industries of Turkey to supply air defence radar systems. The total value of the agreements is USD 170.9m, with deliveries planned between 2026 and 2031. The company has not disclosed specific details about the radar systems involved. However, the ALP-300G Portable Early Warning Radar System, previously known as the ERALP Early Warning Radar System, is considered a potential candidate. Development of the ALP-300G was announced in 2022, and the system was first delivered to the Turkish Armed Forces in May 2023. The ALP-300G is a modern S-band radar designed to detect and track various targets, including air-breathing aircraft, ballistic missiles, anti-radiation missiles, and stealth platforms. According to ASELSAN, the radar features Active Electronically Scanned Array (AESA) technology and digital beamforming, enabling it to perform multi-function and multi-mission tasks simultaneously. 02 Jan 25. The Iveco – Oto Melara Consortium Signs the Contract for the Supply of 76 VBM PLUS for the Italian Army. Signed on 30th December 2024, the contract comes as part of the ongoing supply (“Phase 2”) of Medium Armoured Vehicles to the Italian Army’s Second Medium Brigade and includes an upgrade to the “PLUS” version for the VBM platform, as well as long-term integrated logistics support for all platforms purchased, along with “10×10” rescue and recovery vehicles, ensuring logistical communality among the different tactical platforms in service and representing state-of-the-art vehicles in terms of mobility and protection. 31 Dec 24. Ireland signs for H145M helicopters. The Republic of Ireland has acquired four Airbus Helicopters H145M light-medium rotorcraft for EUR91.7m (USD95.4m). Announced by Tánaiste (deputy prime minister) and Minister for Defence Micheál Martin on 30 December, the deal will see the helicopters delivered with equipment for intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) and light attack duties. They will also be used for Irish Naval Service, Army Ranger Wing (special forces), and Garda (police) support. The H145M is provisioned to carry the Airbus HForce weapons system, and although not mentioned in the announcement it could be that this is being acquired to satisfy the contract’s light attack component. The Irish Department of Defence (DoD) stated that deliveries would commence in the first quarter (Q1) of 2027, from when they will augment the six Leonardo AW139 helicopters operated by the Irish Air Corps. Northrop Grumman Systems Corp., Huntsville, Alabama, was awarded a $481,329,816 hybrid (firm-fixed-price and cost-plus-fixed-fee) other transaction agreement for updates and improvements to the Integrated Air and Missile Defense Battle Command System’s software. Bids were solicited via the internet with 21 received. Work will be performed in McLean, Virginia; Huntsville, Alabama; Linthicum Heights, Maryland; and Orlando, Florida, with an estimated completion date of Dec. 30, 2029. Fiscal 2024 Foreign Military Sales (Poland) funds in the amount of $347,632,616 were obligated at the time of the award. Performance Drone Works (PDW) has secured over $15.3 million in sales and contracts from the U.S. Army to supply its C100 quadcopter, a Group 2 Small Uncrewed Aircraft System (sUAS), in support of the Army’s ‘Transformation in Contact’ initiative. The system will be deployed across multiple high-profile theaters, including Indo-Pacific Command (INDOPACOM), European Command (EUCOM), and Central Command (CENTCOM), enhancing the capabilities of U.S. forces in these critical regions. The C100 was recently selected as part of the U.S. Army’s Directed Requirement for Company-Level sUAS, providing Soldiers with a game-changing solution for medium-range reconnaissance and tactical air support in complex and contested environments. 31 Dec 24. URSA Major Technologies Inc., Berthoud, Colorado, was awarded a $7,650,000 firm-fixed-price contract for space launch system propulsion technology. This contract provides for follow-on work to mature advanced liquid rocket engines. Work will be performed in Berthoud, Colorado, and is expected to be completed by May 11, 2027. This contract was a competitive broad agency announcement acquisition, and one offer was received. Fiscal 2024 research and development funds in the amount of $7,650,000 are being obligated at the time of award. The Air Force Research Laboratory, Edwards Air Force Base, California, is the contracting activity (FA9300-25-C-6001).

02 Jan 25. QinetiQ US was awarded an Other Transaction Agreement supporting Product Manager Tactical Cyber and Network Operations (PdM TCNO). The Agreement was awarded through Consortium Management Group (CMG)/Consortium for Command, Control and Communications in Cyberspace (C5). The Unified Network Operation (UNO) Prototypes being developed will demonstrate a new process for synchronizing and creating a seamless end-to-end Unified Network connecting enterprise and tactical echelons to support all warfighting functions. This initiative will enhance the mission effectiveness of the Department of Defense by increasing the reliability, security, and availability of the Army’s tactical network, while reducing the burden required of the Army’s Signal Soldiers to plan, manage, and secure that same tactical network. 31 Dec 24. Embraer (NYSE: ERJ; B3: EMBR3) signed today a contract for the sale of four A-29 Super Tucano light attack and advanced trainer aircraft to an undisclosed customer in Africa. These aircraft will perform a wide spectrum of missions such as border surveillance, intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR), close air support, counterinsurgency, and advanced flight training.
30 Dec 24. Embraer announced today a firm order for six light attack and advanced trainer A-29 Super Tucanos placed by an undisclosed customer. This order will be included in the 4Q24 backlog and deliveries are scheduled to take place in 2026. These aircraft will be equipped with enhanced capabilities to perform missions such as battlefield air interdiction, close air support, maritime patrol, maritime strike and other territorial defense operations.

02 Jan 25. DoD/DSCA Notifies Congress of Possible FMS of AIM-120D-3 and AIM-120C-8 Advanced Medium Range Air-to-Air Missiles to Japan. The U.S. Department of Defense’s Defense Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA) has notified Congress that the Government of Japan has requested to buy up to one thousand two hundred (1,200) AIM-120 (D-3/C-8) Advanced Medium-Range Air-to-Air Missiles (AMRAAM); up to twenty (20) AIM-120D-3 guidance sections, including precise positioning provided by either Selective Availability Anti-Spoofing Module or M-Code; and up to four (4) AIM-120C-8 guidance sections. The following non-MDE items will be included: AMRAAM propulsion sections, warheads, AIM-120 Captive Air Training Missiles (CATM), missile containers, and control section spares; Common Munitions Built-in Test (BIT) Reprogramming Equipment (CMBRE); ADU-891 Adaptor Group Test Sets; munitions support and support equipment; spare and repair parts, consumables, accessories, and repair and return support; classified software delivery and support; classified publications and technical documentation; transportation support; studies and surveys; warranties; US Government and contractor engineering, technical, and logistical support services; and other related elements of logistics and program support. The estimated total cost is $3.64bn. The principal contractor will be RTX Corporation, located in Tucson, AZ. There are no known offset agreements proposed in connection with this potential sale.
