19 Nov 24. Collins – United Kingdom – Tactical Combat Training System Increment II. The State Department has made a determination approving a possible Foreign Military Sale to the Government of the United Kingdom of Tactical Combat Training System Increment II for an estimated cost of $70m. The Defense Security Cooperation Agency delivered the required certification notifying Congress of this possible sale today. The Government of the United Kingdom has requested to buy forty-six (46) Tactical Combat Training System Increment II (TCTS II) air combat training systems. The following non-MDE items will also be included: containers; integration and test support; spare and repair parts; publications and technical documentation; personnel training and training equipment; U.S. Government and contractor engineering, technical, and logistics support services; and other related elements of logistics and program support. The estimated total cost is $70m. This proposed sale will support the foreign policy and national security objectives of the United States by improving the security of a key NATO Ally that is an important force for political stability and economic progress in Europe. The proposed sale will improve the United Kingdom’s capability to meet current and future threats by improving live, virtual, and constructive tactical combat training. The Royal Air Force’s use of the TCTS II furthers United States – United Kingdom operational training interoperability. The United Kingdom will have no difficulty absorbing this equipment into its armed forces. The proposed sale of this equipment and support will not alter the basic military balance in the region. The principal contractors will be Collins Aerospace, located in Cedar Rapids, IA, and Leonardo DRS Systems, located in Fort Walton Beach, FL. There are no known offset agreements proposed in connection with this potential sale. Implementation of this proposed sale will not require the assignment of any additional U.S. Government or contractor representatives to the United Kingdom. There will be no adverse impact on U.S. defense readiness as a result of this proposed sale. The description and dollar value are for the highest estimated quantity and dollar value based on initial requirements. 18 Nov 24. Qioptiq – British soldiers are to receive high-tech rifle sights, helping them to better track and shoot the enemy in dark conditions. British soldiers are to receive high-tech rifle sights, helping them to better track and shoot the enemy in dark conditions, under a new contract announced by the MOD today. The new contract will supply up to 10,000 high performance rifle sights and is a jobs boost for North Wales, sustaining 650 jobs in St Asaph, Denbighshire. This supports the Government’s economic growth mission and underlines defence’s contribution to growth across the UK. The TALON Fused Weapon Sight is manufactured by defence company Qioptiq and is the most advanced sight the British Army will have used. The sight helps with war fighting at night, as it uses the latest optical technology to detect enemy soldiers better in low light. The sight also has an advanced ability to recognise adversaries through body heat, known as thermal recognition. The TALON sight will also provide soldiers with the ability to more accurately detect enemy targets from an increased distance up to 1 kilometre, including in the dark. They will fit seamlessly onto the Army’s SA80 A3 and HUNTER rifles. 18 Nov 24. Thales and NATO Support and Procurement Agency (NSPA) have signed a contract for the supply of a ForceShield system to the Portuguese Army, which is designed to reinforce Portugal’s very short-range air defence (VSHORAD) capabilities. It meets NATO requirements, which encourages its members to increase their VSHORAD capabilities, improve theatre protection and defend against high-visibility threats.

18 Nov 24. Common Armoured Vehicle System (CAVS) Programme Received Eur 60m in Funding from EDIRPA which Promotes European Defence Procurement. Common Armoured Vehicle System (CAVS) programme, based on the Patria 6×6 vehicle and led by Finland, has received EUR 60m in funding from the EDIRPA funding instrument that promotes joint defence procurement by European member states. The announcement was published by European Commission. In addition to Finland, the joint EDIRPA procurement proposal prepared by the Finnish defence administration includes Latvia, Sweden and Germany. The funding will be used for multinational cooperation between the CAVS vehicle user countries. The joint CAVS programme strengthens European defence and NATO cooperation. (Source: ASD Network)

 

21 Nov 24. Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace (‘KONGSBERG’) has signed a contract with the government of the Netherlands for the delivery of NASAMS and NOMADS air defence systems. The contract is valued at about NOK 12bn.  The contract was signed on November 21. It followed the announcement by KONGSBERG on October 14, when the Dutch government filed a recommendation to Parliament, outlining its intention to acquire the new systems as part of the CITADEL programme, a comprehensive integrated air and missile defence programme.

 

21 Nov 24. Rheinmetall clears explosive ordnances in Baltic Sea. The Düsseldorf-based Technology Corporation Rheinmetall has gained a valuable order for clearing explosive ordnances in the Baltic Sea in order to establish the condition for connecting an offshore windmill-farm to the power grid. The value of this commissioning is within a low double-digit million Euro range. The order to Rheinmetall was placed by grid operator 50Hertz within the OST-6-1 project and contains the detection of contaminations, their identi¬fication, the documentation, and hence, the recovery of explosive ordnances. Recovered trans¬portable contaminated waste and remains of weapons will be handed-over to the authorities or blown up on site. This is the first major order for the Cooperation concerning offshore explosives ordnances detection and clearing. The offshore work to be carried out by Rheinmetall Project Solutions GmbH began in July 2024 and is expected to be completed in May 2025. The commissioning underlines Rheinmetall’s expertise in the field of offshore explosive ordnance detection and safe clearance, in which all legal and environmental aspects are taken into account. The aim is to clear the area in order to enable grid operator 50Hertz to lay offshore extra-high voltage cables and install two offshore platforms off the coast of the Fischland-Darß region. This project involves Rheinmetall AG being the project lead, alongside specialized companies from Germany and Norway.

 

20 Nov 24. The Czech Defense Ministry said on Wednesday it plans to buy 14 Leopard 2A4 tanks from Germany in a $167m deal that’s part of a major modernization of the country’s military amid Russia’s war against Ukraine. The ministry said it hopes the deal, worth almost 4bn Czech crowns or koruna, would be signed with Germany’s Rheinmetall Landsysteme GmbH by the end of the year, with the tanks to be delivered by the end of 2026.Germany has already donated 28 Leopard 2A4 tanks to the Czechs in exchange for the weapons they gave to Ukraine. 19 Nov 24. Cuashub.com said today that CERBAIR to Provide C-UAS Solution for New French Naval Vessels. CERBAIR, a leading French anti-drone company, announced in a press release on November 5, 2024, that it has been selected to provide a maritime version of its radio frequency detection system for the French Navy. Last year the Direction générale de l’armement (DGA) ordered seven new offshore patrol vessels 2023 for the French Navy. CERBAIR has since been awarded the contract to equip these new vessels, with the company’s HYDRA system able to locate both UAS and their pilots via its advanced analysis of the radio-frequency spectrum. This upgradeable direction finder, which features signal processing algorithms, is reported by CERBAIR to be “non-emissive and undetectable” and therefore offers discreet and effective protection. This announcement further demonstrates the importance the French Navy are placing on the protection of its maritime vessels from malicious drone use. In March this year French, US and UK forces reported the downing of dozens of Houthi drones in the Red Sea. 18 Nov 24. Elbit Systems Ltd. (NASDAQ: ESLT and TASE: ESLT) (“Elbit Systems” or the “Company”) announced today that it was awarded contracts worth a total amount of approximately $335m, to supply defense systems to a European country. The contracts include the supply of PULS™ (Precise and Universal Launching Systems) rocket launchers and rockets, as well as Hermes™ 900 Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) equipped with advanced payloads. The contracts will be performed over a period of three years and six months.  Elbit Systems’ PULS provides a comprehensive and cost-effective solution capable of launching unguided rockets, precision-guided munitions, and missiles with various ranges. The PULS launcher is fully adaptable to existing wheeled and tracked platforms, enabling significant reductions in maintenance and training costs. The Hermes 900 multi-role MALE UAS is Elbit Systems’ largest unmanned aerial vehicle, designed to perform a wide range of missions, including area dominance and persistent intelligence, surveillance, target acquisition and reconnaissance (ISTAR) across land and maritime domains. Since its first order of in 2011, the Hermes 900 has been selected by over 20 customers worldwide.

 

15 Nov 24. Lockheed Martin – Greece – F-16 Engine Follow-On Support. The State Department has made a determination approving a possible Foreign Military Sale to the Government of Greece of F-16 Engine Follow-On Support and related elements of logistics and program support for an estimated cost of $160m. The Defense Security Cooperation Agency delivered the required certification notifying Congress of this possible sale today. The Government of Greece has requested to buy equipment and services for follow-on support of its F-16 engines. The following non-MDE items will be included: engine components, parts, and accessories; aircraft engine and ground handling equipment; major and minor modifications; spare parts, consumables and accessories, and repair and return support; classified and unclassified software delivery and support; classified and unclassified publications and technical documentation; U.S. Government and contractor engineering, technical, and logistics support services; and other related elements of logistics and program support. The estimated total cost is $160m. This proposed sale will support the foreign policy and national security of the United States by improving the security of a NATO Ally that continues to be a force for political and economic stability in Europe. The proposed sale will improve Greece’s capability to maintain its F-16 aircraft fleet, which it operates to promote security in the Eastern Mediterranean. Greece will have no difficulty absorbing these articles and services into its armed forces. The proposed sale of this equipment and support will not alter the basic military balance in the region. The principal contractor will be General Electric Aerospace, located in Evendale, OH. There are no known offset agreements proposed in connection with this potential sale. Implementation of this proposed sale will not require the assignment of any additional U.S. Government or contractor representatives to Greece. 15 Nov 24. The Croatian government reportedly gave approval to procure six Turkish Bayraktar TB2 unmanned aerial vehicles in a deal worth $95m. He added that the “configuration is based on six aircraft equipped with electro-optical cameras for reconnaissance, including the initial set of weapons, and ensures double radio coverage of the entire territory of Croatia in stationary and mobile version.” The deal will include command and control stations, training simulator, ground monitoring and control stations, as well as set of initial spare parts enough to reach 4,000 flight hours.

 

21 Nov 24. Teledyne FLIR Defense, part of Teledyne Technologies Incorporated (NYSE:TDY), has announced that it will be delivering its UltraFORCE® 380X-HDc multi-spectral imaging systems to NL EASP AIR, the first sale of Teledyne FLIR’s newly launched surveillance gimbal specially designed for customers outside the United States. NL EASP AIR will install the systems on their three fixed-wing Dornier DO328-110 multi-mission maritime patrol aircraft. The company will deploy UltraFORCE 380X’s advanced imaging technology in support of its Search and Rescue (SAR), maritime patrol, and Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) missions. 19 Nov 24. Terma announced its return to the European Space Agency’s (ESA) ExoMars program, securing the largest space contract in the Company’s history. The contract includes Terma’s delivery of critical power systems and test equipment to support the 2028 mission’s Rosalind Rover in its search for life on Mars. Terma initially joined the ExoMars program in 2016, when it provided a Remote Terminal Power Unit (RTPU) for the first mission’s Schiaparelli lander. The first mission faced challenges when the lander crashed, however, Terma’s technology performed as expected. With the upcoming 2028 launch, Terma will deliver a Remote Terminal Unit (RTU), a Power Conditioning and Distribution Unit (PCDU), a Radio Frequency Special Check-Out Equipment (RF SCOE ) and a Power SCOE as part of a renewed collaboration.

 

15 Nov 24. Poland orders further FlyEye UASs. Poland has ordered further WB Group FlyEye unmanned aircraft systems (UASs) to equip the country’s army. The Polish defence procurement agency, Agencja Uzbrojenia, announced the follow-on buy on 15 November, saying 13 new systems will be delivered by the end of 2024. The Polish special operations forces first ordered the FlyEye in 2010, with follow-on orders coming after. News of this latest follow-on FlyEye contract came 14 months after Poland signed for more than 400 of the UASs at the International Defence Industry Exhibition MSPO 2023. At the time it was noted by the Agencja Uzbrojenia that this original deal would comprise just under 1,700 UAVs, equating to about four air vehicles per system. As well as the FlyEye, the Polish Armed Forces also fields the Insitu ScanEagle and Orbiter tactical UASs, as well as the Baykar Bayraktar TB2 medium-altitude long-endurance UAS. (Source: Janes)

19 Nov 24. Austria begins modernisation of its C2 capability with Systematic Defence. Systematic Defence is proud to announce the signing of a significant contract with the Austrian Armed Forces for the delivery of its world-leading command and control software, SitaWare Headquarters and SitaWare Frontline. This contract marks an important expansion of the SitaWare user community, with Austria becoming the latest nation to adopt the proven C4ISR solution to enhance its operational command and tactical capabilities. Following a public tender process, the Austrian Federal Army selected SitaWare Headquarters for its advanced command-and-control (C2) capabilities, including its ability to deliver seamless interoperability and information sharing across military units and coalition partners. In tandem, SitaWare Frontline will provide Austrian forces with a robust mounted solution, enhancing communication and situational awareness at the tactical edge.

20 Nov 24. Anduril Industries Awarded $200m Contract to Develop CUAS for the MADIS. Anduril has been awarded a $200m, five-year Indefinite Delivery/Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) contract by the U.S. Marine Corps to develop and deliver a Counter Unmanned Aerial System (CUAS) Engagement System (CES) for the Marine Air Defense Integrated System (MADIS). The MADIS CES Program of Record will provide cutting-edge, expeditionary CUAS capabilities to protect the Marine Air Ground Task Force (MAGTF) from evolving air threats. The MADIS CES is part of a block upgrade program for the Marine Corps’ major expeditionary counter-drone system, designed to enhance lethality and ensure Marines are equipped with the latest CUAS technology to defend against rapidly evolving threats. Anduril’s CES will include Anvil, an autonomous, low-collateral kinetic interceptor specifically designed to defeat Group 1 and Group 2 drone threats. Anvil uses advanced onboard computing and sensors to maintain target lock and perform precise terminal guidance, ensuring high-probability defeats in dynamic environments. The CES system will also be powered by Lattice, Anduril’s advanced, open command-and-control operating system that integrates sensor fusion, computer vision, edge computing, decision aids, and artificial intelligence to streamline decision-making in high-tempo threat environments. This modular, open-architecture approach allows the MADIS CES to continuously integrate new capabilities, ensuring Marines remain protected against emerging threats. 20 Nov 24. BAE to Develop Advanced Electronic Warfare Countermeasures to Protect US Army Combat Vehicles. Multi-Class Soft-Kill System guards against guided missiles and adjacent threats. BAE Systems was awarded a follow-on contract from the U.S. Army to further develop its Multi-Class Soft Kill System (MCSKS) countermeasures to protect ground combat vehicles against guided missiles and adjacent threats, improving vehicle survivability and mission success. Under the MCSKS contract, BAE Systems will further develop its laser-based Stormcrow™ and TERRA RAVEN™ countermeasure systems, advancing the Army’s electronic warfare (EW)-based Active Protection System (APS) work. 15 Nov 24. Caterpillar Inc., Irving, Texas, was awarded a $66,755,751 modification (P00005) to contract W56HZV-21-D-0034 for electro-hydraulic tracked dozers, related hardware and ancillary services. Work locations and funding will be determined with each order, with an estimated completion date of March 28, 2027. Army Contracting Command, Detroit Arsenal, Michigan, is the contracting activity.

18 Nov 24. BAE Systems has received $202m in U.S. Navy contracts to provide modernization and maintenance services aboard the guided missile destroyer USS Laboon (DDG 58) and the amphibious assault ship USS Wasp (LHD 1). BAE Systems shipyard personnel and their subcontractor teammates will begin working aboard both ships next February and March, respectively. Under the $114m docking selected restricted availability (DSRA) contract for USS Laboon, BAE Systems will dry-dock the ship to perform underwater hull maintenance, while repairing the ship’s main propulsion system; preserving internal ballast and fuel tanks, and the external superstructure; and rehabilitating crew berthing and dining compartments. The DSRA contract includes options that, if exercised, would bring the cumulative value to $117m. USS Laboon is named in honor of Father John Francis Laboon (1921–1988), a captain in the Navy’s Chaplain Corps who was awarded the Silver Star during World War II while serving on the submarine USS Peto. Under the selected restricted availability (SRA) contract awarded for USS Wasp, BAE Systems will perform mechanical work in the engineering spaces, inspect and repair interior hull structures, and refurbish the habitability spaces for the ship’s crew and embarked Marine troops. The SRA contract includes options that, if exercised, would bring the cumulative value to $104 m. USS Wasp is the tenth U.S. ship to be so named. 18 Nov 24.  Raytheon Co., Marlborough, Massachusetts, is being awarded $174,576,603 for a ceiling-price, performance-based, logistics requirements contract for the repair, upgrade, or replacement of 365 parts within two of the 13 major subsystems of the Aegis Weapon System: the MK99 fire control system and the Army Navy Joint Electronics Type Designation Systems Water/Surface Ship, Radar, Surveillance and Control Transmitter Group. The contractor will also be responsible for inventory management, warehousing and achieving supply response time metrics. Work will be performed in Chesapeake, Virginia (63%); and Andover, Massachusetts (37%). This contract includes a five-year base period with no options. Work is expected to be completed by November 2029. Annual working capital funds (Navy) in the amount of $36,877,685 will be issued for delivery order N00383-20-F-0NE0 that will be awarded concurrently with the contract and will initially be obligated at the time of award as an undefinitized contract action with a commitment of $12,406,357 for a year’s period of performance. Funds will not expire at the end of the current fiscal year. One company was solicited for this sole-source requirement under authority 10 U.S. Code 3204 (a)(1), with one offer received. Naval Supply Systems Command Weapon Systems Support, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, is the contracting activity (N00383-25-D-NE01).

This modification brings the total cumulative face value of the contract to $33,586,934 from $10,586,934. Work will be performed at Colorado Springs, Colorado; and Costa Mesa, California, and is expected to be completed by Oct. 2, 2025. The Bell Boeing Joint Project Office, California, Maryland, has been awarded a maximum $600,306,607 modification (P00036) exercising the five-year option period of a five-year base contract (SPE4AX-20-D-9001) with one five-year option period for V-22 Planned Maintenance Interval consumable market baskets. This is a fixed-price, incentive, performance-based contract. The ordering period end date is Nov. 30, 2029. Using customers are Navy, Marine Corps, Air Force, and Japanese Ground Self Defense Force. Boeing Defense, Space & Security, a division of The Boeing Co., Seattle, Washington, has been awarded a $2,389,323,828 modification (P00326) to a previously awarded contract (FA8625-11-C-6600) for 15 KC-46A Lot 11 production aircraft, G081, subscriptions, and licenses.  Work will be performed in Seattle, Washington, and is expected to be completed by June 30, 2028.  Fiscal 2025 procurement funds in the amount of $2,389,323,828 are being obligated at the time of award. 21 Nov 24. Dynetics Inc., Huntsville, Alabama, was awarded a $670,500,000 cost-plus-fixed-fee contract for the common hypersonic glide body and thermal protection system. Bids were solicited via the internet with one received. Work will be performed in Huntsville, Alabama, with an estimated completion date of Oct. 31, 2029. Fiscal 2024 research, development, test and evaluation, Army funds in the amount of $65,800,000 were obligated at the time of the award. 19 Nov 24. Textron Systems Awarded UAS Contracts For 3 Additional US Navy LCSs. Textron Systems Corporation, a Textron Inc. (NYSE:TXT) company, announced today that it has been awarded a task order valued at up to $47m by the U.S. Navy’s Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR) to provide COCO UAS services to three Independence Class Littoral Combat Ships (LCS) deploying to 5th Fleet. This award follows a 2023 contract to provide UAS support to LCSs, bringing the total number of U.S. Navy ships supported by the Aerosonde® UAS to 10. Textron Systems will deploy its Aerosonde UAS and skilled personnel to provide mission overwatch and extended range intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR) services with enhanced mission payloads as seen aboard the Expeditionary Sea Base (ESB)-4 and ESB-5, as well as two DDG-class ships and three LCSs. ANELLO Photonics, the creator of the SiPhOG and a provider of cutting-edge integrated silicon photonics solutions for navigation in GPS-denied environments, has been awarded a Phase II SBIR contract for the U.S. Army. During the eighteen-month period, ANELLO will demonstrate the capabilities of its innovative silicon photonics optical gyroscope technology and sensor fusion technology for navigation in environments without GPS. The Phase II SBIR award enables ANELLO to showcase to the U.S. Army its cutting-edge integrated silicon photonics technology together with its products using the ANELLO AI-based sensor fusion engine. 21 Nov 24. DIU Selects Anduril to Enable Collaborative Autonomy for Replicator Systems. Today, the Defense Innovation Unit (DIU) announced that Anduril has been selected to deliver collaborative mission autonomy software that will coordinate thousands of uncrewed and autonomous assets across the Joint Force in communications and GNSS denied environments. Under DIU’s Autonomous Collaborative Teaming (ACT) contract, Anduril’s Lattice for Mission Autonomy™ software platform will enable multi-domain autonomous assets acquired through the Department’s Replicator initiative to execute collaborative autonomous tasks, unlocking new concepts of employment that enable the Joint Force to regain affordable mass with teams of low-cost autonomous systems. 21 Nov 24. L3Harris Selected to Develop Autonomous Swarms Prototype. L3Harris is engineering an open architecture system to advance the U.S. Department of Defense’s autonomy vision. L3Harris was selected by the Defense Innovation Unit (DIU) to prototype a command-and-control system that can simultaneously operate hundreds – or even thousands – of autonomous assets. 20 Nov 24. Ukraine – Blanket Order Sustainment of US Army Supplied Systems. The State Department has made a determination approving a possible Foreign Military Sale to the Government of Ukraine of Blanket Order Sustainment of U.S. Army Supplied Systems and related equipment for an estimated cost of $100 m. The Defense Security Cooperation Agency delivered the required certification notifying Congress. The Government of Ukraine has requested to buy equipment and services for refurbishment of vehicles; technical assistance; training; publications; and other related elements of logistics and program support. The estimated total cost is $100m. This proposed sale will support the foreign policy goals and national security objectives of the United States by improving the security of a partner country that is a force for political stability and economic progress in Europe. Ukraine has an urgent need to strengthen local sustainment capabilities to maintain high operational rates for U.S.-provided vehicles and weapon systems. This sustainment support will directly contribute to battlefield effectiveness, overall operational rates, logistics, and reduction of financial burdens as a result of a more resilient and rapid repair cycle. The proposed sale of this equipment and support will not alter the basic military balance in the region. The principal contractor(s) will be determined from approved vendors. There are no known offset agreements proposed in connection with this potential sale. Implementation of this proposed sale will not require the assignment of any additional U.S. Government or contractor representatives to Ukraine. There will be no adverse impact on U.S. defense readiness as a result of this proposed sale. 21 Nov 24. Austal/Damen – Australian Government announces next-gen Army Landing Craft Heavy. Minister for Defence Industry and Capability Delivery Pat Conroy has announced the selection of the preferred option for the Australian Defence Force’s Landing Craft Heavy under a program that will bolster national defence by establishing a new littoral fleet. Defence Connect can reveal the selection of the Damen Shipyards Group LST100 design as the Australian Army’s new littoral manoeuvre fleet, which provides the mobility essential to the restructure and reposture of the Army. This announcement is a significant step in the establishment of a littoral fleet, which is expected to create 1,100 direct jobs and more than 2,000 indirect jobs under the Albanese government’s plan for continuous naval shipbuilding in Western Australia. Eight Landing Craft Heavy vessels, based on the LST100, will be built by Australian ship designer and builder Austal at the Henderson Shipyard in Western Australia, subject to acceptable commercial negotiations and demonstrated performance. 20 Nov 24. Boeing – Republic of Korea – F-15K Aircraft Upgrade. The State Department has made a determination approving a possible Foreign Military Sale to the Republic of Korea of F-15K Aircraft Upgrade and related elements of logistics and program support for an estimated cost of $6.2bn. The Defense Security Cooperation Agency delivered the required certification notifying Congress of this possible sale today. The Republic of Korea has requested to buy equipment and services to upgrade its F-15K aircraft fleet, including ninety-six (96) Advanced Display Core Processor II (ADCP II) mission system computers; seventy (70) AN/APG-82(v)1 Active Electronically Scanned Arrays (AESA) radars; seventy (70) AN/ALQ-250 Eagle Passive Active Warning Survivability System (EPAWSS) electronic warfare (EW) suites; and seventy (70) AN/AAR-57 Common Missile Warning Systems (CMWS). The following non-MDE items will also be included: Joint Mission Planning Systems (JMPS) with unique planning components; Computer Program Identification Numbers (CPINs); Joint Helmet Mounted Cueing Systems; major modifications and maintenance support; aircraft components, parts, and accessories; spare parts, consumables, accessories, and repair and return support; training aids and devices; weapons software and software support; classified and unclassified software delivery and support; classified and unclassified publications and technical documentation; personnel training and training equipment; aerial refueling support; aircraft ferry and transportation support; facilities and construction support; studies and surveys; U.S. Government and contractor engineering, technical, and logistics support services; and other related elements of logistics and program support. The estimated total cost is $6.2bn. This proposed sale will support the foreign policy goals and national security objectives of the United States by improving the security of a major ally that is a force for political stability and economic progress in the Indo-Pacific region. This proposed sale will improve the Republic of Korea’s capability to meet current and future threats by increasing its critical air defense capability to deter aggression in the region and to ensure interoperability with U.S. forces. The Republic of Korea will have no difficulty absorbing these articles and services into its armed forces. The proposed sale of this equipment and support will not alter the basic military balance in the region. The primary contractors will be Boeing Company, based in Arlington, VA; Raytheon Technologies, located in Forest, MS; and BAE Systems, situated in Falls Church, VA. The U. S. Government is not aware of any offset agreements proposed in connection with this potential sale. Implementation of this proposed sale will not require the assignment of any additional U.S. Government or contractor representatives to the Republic of Korea. There will be no adverse impact on U.S. defense readiness as a result of this proposed sale. 21 Nov 24. The Boeing Co., Seattle, Washington, is awarded a $1,677,228,007 modification P00006 to a previously award firm-fixed-price, undefinitized contract (N0001924C0025). This modification adds scope for the procurement and delivery of seven Lot 13 P-8A aircraft for the Navy and procures Foreign Military Sales unique non-recurring engineering (NRE). Additionally, this modification updates the not-to-exceed prices for previously awarded Lot 13 P-8A aircraft for the governments of Canada and Germany, and updates the not-to-exceed price for previously awarded common NRE. Work will be performed in Seattle, Washington (98.22%); Huntington Beach, California (1.1%); and various locations within the continental U.S. (0.68%), and is expected to be completed September 2030. Fiscal 2024 aircraft procurement (Navy) funds in the amount of $695,872,899 will be obligated at the time of award, none of which will expire at the end of the current fiscal year. The contract being modified was not competed. Naval Air Systems Command Patuxent River, Maryland, is the contracting activity.

ASCA announces 21 contracts with universities, defence industry.  The Advanced Strategic Capabilities Accelerator (ASCA) has signed 21 contracts as part of an investment of more than $60 m with Australian universities and industry partners. The contracts, made under ASCA’s Emerging and Disruptive Technologies (EDT) program, aims to back local innovation in quantum and counter disinformation technologies. The investment gives effect to innovation priorities in the National Defence Strategy and Asymmetric Advantage – Delivering More, Together, the Defence Innovation, Science and Technology Strategy. The EDT program is pushing scientific knowledge to advance the development of existing and new capabilities that help deter hostile acts against Australia and in the region. Contracted companies and universities include Analog Quantum Circuits, Commonwealth Scientific & Industrial Research Organisations, Consunet, DeteQt, Diamond Defence, Infleqtion (ColdQuanta), Monash University, Nomad Atomics, Q-CTRL, QuantX Labs, Lockheed Martin Australia, University of Adelaide, University of New South Wales, University of Technology Sydney, University of South Australia and the University of Western Australia. The recipients include Analog Quantum Circuits in Queensland (which designs and fabricates superconducting devices for quantum computing), Consunet in South Australia (which works on capabilities in electromagnetic warfare and spectrum management), Nomad Atomics in Victoria (which specialises in the development of high precision quantum sensors), and Q-CTRL in NSW (which is seeking to solve the hardest problems facing quantum technology, improving hardware performance and accelerating pathways to useful quantum computers and other technologies). A total of 179 proposals from across the national science and technology ecosystem were received as part of this call-out for EDT proposals.
