11 Sept 24. G3 Systems awarded contract by UK MOD to deliver additional deployable Mobile Roller Brake Test systems. G3 Systems Limited, the British company with over 23 years of operationally proven expertise in designing and producing deployable containerised solutions has been awarded a contract to deliver six more Mobile Roller Brake Testing (MRBT) systems for Defence Equipment and Support (DE&S). The contract has been placed by the MoD’s Operational Infrastructure team under Project AMPHORA and is being announced at DVD (18/19 September 2024). G3 Systems will be at stand C4-401 throughout the event to discuss this and their wider defence capabilities, such as austere infrastructure project management and overseas fire and rescue services.
12 Sept 24. ISTEC delivers 65 weapons mounts for the British Army’s MLRS A2. ISTEC Services Limited, the British company with 35 years of operationally proven experience in the design, manufacture and supply of complex weapon integration solutions for military platforms, has recently completed delivery of 65 weapons mounts for the new MLRS A2 for the British Army. The contract was placed via the NATO Support and Procurement Agency (NSPA).
12 Sept 24. NP Aerospace receives multiple UK MoD related contracts following Jankel Acquisition. NP Aerospace, the global vehicle integrator and armour manufacturer, has today announced the award of multiple UK MoD related contracts following the acquisition of the assets of Jankel Armouring Limited. The specifics of the contracts cannot be disclosed however, there are seven individual contracts in total and together, they involve the provision of products and services in the areas of tactical vehicles, civilian armoured vehicles (CAVs), armour protection systems, military seating and through-life support services. Contracting routes vary and range from direct to UK MoD (DE&S) and supply contracts to UK MoD through established tier one prime contractors. This announcement coincides with the DVD event taking place at Millbrook, 18-19 September 2024, where NP Aerospace are exhibiting on stand OR13 in the Off-Road Area.

Work will be performed in Tucson, Arizona, with an estimated completion date of June 25, 2025. 11 Sept 24. Allen-Vanguard receives significant follow-on order of SCORPION ECM Systems for a NATO ally. Allen-Vanguard, a global leader in providing customized solutions for defeating Radio Frequency (RF) based terrorist and extremist threats, is pleased to report it has received a significant follow-on order for SCORPION Electronic Counter Measure (ECM) systems, accessories and spares from the NATO ally it supplied 68 systems to at the beginning of the year. 27 Aug 24. Denmark’s €1.34bn deal secures CV9035 MKIIIC vehicles upgrade. Forsvarsministeriets Materiel—og Indkøbsstyrelse (FMI) bypassed competition in purchasing advanced armoured vehicles from Sweden’s BAE Systems Hägglunds AB. Denmark’s Ministry of Defence Acquisition and Logistics Organisation (FMI) has committed nearly 10bn DKK to procure 115 CV9035 MKIIIC armoured vehicles to add to its military capability. Denmark has invested in its military capabilities with the recent announcement of a 9.975bn DKK (approx. €1.34bn) direct award contract for the procurement of 115 CV9035 MKIIIC infantry fighting vehicles (IFVs). 14 Aug 24. Bittium supplies the Estonian Defence Forces with more products enabling next-generation tactical communications. The product deliveries continue the reform that aims to improve IP data transfer capability of the Estonian Land Forces. Bittium has already previously supplied a tactical communications system to be included as a part of a bigger system entity. Product deliveries related to the tactical communications system were started in the year 2016 (press release November 3, 2016). Bittium’s tactical communications system modernizes the Estonian Land Forces’ data transfer, improves the performance of the network, and diversifies the wireless and wired connectivity of the system entity used by the Estonian Defence Forces. The value of the product order is approximately EUR 1.8m and the deliveries will be started during the year 2024. The order has been issued by Bittium’s Estonian partner, who will supply and integrate the products and systems for the Estonian Defence Forces. The order is based on a Framework Agreement between the Estonian partner and the Estonian Defence Forces. The Framework Agreement covers the years from 2021 to 2025. Also third-party products are supplied within the scope of the Framework Agreement. Deliveries within the scope of the product order include the products of the software defined radio based Bittium Tactical Wireless IP Network™ (TAC WIN) system that forms a wireless broadband backbone network, the versatile Bittium Tough Comnode™ devices for different tactical communications needs, the next-generation Bittium Tough VoIP Field Phone™ 2 products, and accessories related to the products.
09 Sep 24. Exail Secures Contract With Precision Technic Defence to Supply Inertial Navigation Systems to Northern European Army. Exail has signed a contract with Precision Technic Defence A/S, a specialist in defense technology, to supply Advans Vega Inertial Navigation Systems (INS) for integration into mobile surveillance systems. These systems will be deployed on multiple platforms by the land forces of a major Northern European country. The Advans Vega INS was chosen for its high precision in targeting, offering a heading accuracy of up to 0.5 milliradians. This level of precision is crucial in military operations where even the smallest deviation can significantly impact mission outcomes. The system is engineered to maintain this accuracy in dynamic and challenging environments, ensuring reliable navigation, surveillance and targeting across various defense applications. 09 Sept 24. The Swedish Defence Materiel Administration (FMV) signed a contract with General Dynamics European Land Systems (GDELS) on 5 September for a fourth batch of M3 amphibious bridges and ferry systems. The FMV said on its website on 6 September that it ordered nine more systems, designated Amfbro 400, and spare parts worth approximately SEK470m (USD45.8m). An FMV spokesperson told Janes on 6 September that the main contract for Amfbro 400s was placed in June 2022 and that a total of 34 systems have been ordered, with deliveries scheduled from November 2024 to November 2029. In addition to spare parts, the FMV has ordered documentation (instruction, maintenance manuals and schedules, and an illustrated parts catalogue), special tools and test equipment, initial training, maintenance instructors, and preventive workshops, the spokesperson said. 13 Aug 24. The sensor specialist HENSOLDT has received a further order for the delivery of “Dynahawk” fire control sights (FLV). The customer is the Federal Office of Bundeswehr Equipment, Information Technology and In-Service Support (BAAINBw). The order includes deliveries this year and next, with an option for further systems in 2026. The order is worth several million euros. HENSOLDT has already supplied fire control sights in previous years. The “Dynahawk” has a 5.5x glass optical magnification and a laser rangefinder. The ballistics computer of the fire control sight, which is equipped with sensors for environmental perception (temperature, air pressure, angular rate sensor), has several modes for engaging static and dynamic targets and automatically recognises the loaded ammunition and calculates the corresponding ballistics. The FLV also has selection options for programming the firing point. This means that bursting or air-burst ammunition can also be used with pinpoint accuracy. The unique selling point of the FLV is its interoperability with the two weapon systems introduced into the Bundeswehr, the “Wirkmittel 90” (DND RGW90) and the “leichte Wirkmittel 1800+” (MBDA Enforcer). Both weapons can be fired without changes to the configuration of the “Dynahawk”.
13 Aug 24. Huta Stalowa Wola (HSW), part of Polska Grupa Zbrojeniowa (PGZ), signed a contract with Raytheon Polska on 12 August on the domestic production of 48 M903 Patriot launchers for delivery in 2027–29, the Polish Ministry of Defence (MND) and HSW announced on their websites later the same day. The contract signing kicks off the implementation of phase 2 of the Wisła air-defence programme and the signing of agreements with Polish industry on the delivery of more components for the programme, according to the Polish MND and HSW. HSW has subcontracted Zakłady Mechaniczne Tarnów to supply actuators for the launchers and Wojskowe Zakłady Elektroniczne for the datalink terminal module. Members of the PGZ-Wisła consortium will produce other parts, including technical support containers, transport and loading vehicles, launcher and missile components, and radar systems. In preparation for phase 1 of the Wisła programme, HSW built a production and assembly plant that could eventually become a service, maintenance, and repair centre for M903 Patriot launchers, according to the Polish company. 11 Sep 24. The Norwegian Defence Materiel Agency (NDMA) exercised a contract option to procure three additional TPY-4 radars from Lockheed Martin (LM), bringing the new total to 11 of the ground-based multi-mission radars. The TPY-4, which has been coined “NATO’s eyes in the north”, also recently completed the Critical Design Review (CDR) confirming the radar design is meeting the program requirements. The relationship with Norwegian industry has been a critical element to the development of TPY-4. Lockheed Martin leveraged an extensive Norwegian supplier base making this program and other active international opportunities for TPY-4 a true U.S./Norwegian industry partnership. In particular, the relationship with Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace (KDA) resulted in the production of the first TPY-4 which included the Platform Electronics System (PES) built by KDA, a critical element in the foundation of this next generation sensor that meets and exceeds current long range surveillance requirements. The Royal Norwegian Air Force will manage and operate the TPY-4 radars, integrating them into Norway’s broader air surveillance and defense network. The TPY-4 radar system, a state-of-the-art multi-mission sensor, enhances the Norwegian Air Force’s capability to detect, track, and classify aerial threats, providing critical situational awareness. The system supports air surveillance, low profile unmanned aerial system (UAS) detection, ballistic missile defense and air traffic control. With CDR complete, LM and KDA are now focused on finalizing the production of the TPY-4 radars for NDMA and preparing for the first Factory System Test (FST) scheduled for completion in 2025. The U.S. Air Force has also selected the TPY-4 radar for the Three-Dimensional Expeditionary Long Range Radar (3DELRR) program and has successfully accomplished risk reduction testing. 13 Aug 24. US approves possible HIMARS sale to Norway. The US Department of State has approved the possible Foreign Military Sales (FMS) of M142 High Mobility Artillery Rocket Systems (HIMARSs) and related equipment worth up to USD580m to Norway, the US Defense Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA) announced in a press release on 9 August. Norway’s government has requested 16 HIMARSs, 15 M30A2 Guided Multiple Launch Rocket System (GMLRS) Alternative Warhead (AW) pods with the Insensitive Munitions Propulsion System (IMPS), 15 M31A2 GMLRS Unitary (GMLRS-U) high-explosive pods with IMPS, and 100 M57 Army Tactical Missile System (ATACMS) pods. It has also requested Low Cost Reduced Range Practice Rocket (LCRRPR) pods, interactive electronic technical manuals, integration support services, spare parts, toolkits, test equipment, contractor logistics support, training and related equipment, technical assistance, technical publications, transportation, and other related elements of logistics and programme support. The proposed FMS will support US foreign policy goals and national security objectives by improving NATO ally Norway’s security, according to the DSCA. The agency added that the proposed sale would improve Norwegian capabilities to meet current and future threats and increase its interoperability with US and other allied forces. 14 Aug 24. MilDef to deliver rugged displays to European military vehicle manufacturer, worth 135 MSEK. Via the acquisition of certain assets of Advanced Vision Technologies Ltd (AVT), MilDef has now been entrusted to deliver intelligent and rugged displays to key European land vehicle programmes. Deliveries will take place 2024-2029 and order value amounts to approximately 135 MSEK. In 2020, MilDef won a framework agreement to deliver hardware, e.g. computers, switches, and routers. Through the acquisition of certain assets from AVT, this agreement will now include the next generation of GVA (Generic Vehicle Architecture) military displays, produced at MilDef’s UK assembly facility in South Wales.
04 Sept 24. Netherlands plans to replace its stock of the Spike anti-tank missile launchers between 2026 and the first half of 2028, its Ministry of Defence (MoD) announced on 2 September 2024, stating that it intends to sign contracts with Rafael in October to replace the old launchers with a system for more advanced Spike LR 2 within four years. Netherlands MoD made strong arguments for the upgrade based on changes in modern warfare requiring the elimination of heavily armoured targets at long-range, and indicating that the 5000 metre (m) range of the new system offers a step-up in meeting this requirement. Poland signed on Monday a contract with Raytheon Polska and PGZ Huta Stalowa Wola for the production of 48 M903 launchers forming part of Patriot air defence systems worth $1.23bn, the defence minister said. “These launchers… will be produced in Poland,” Wladyslaw Kosiniak-Kamysz said during a visit to Sochaczew in central Poland. Russia’s invasion of Ukraine in 2022 has made defence a top priority for members of NATO’s eastern flank, and Poland has ramped up spending to around 4% of its GDP this year as it looks to boost its armed forces. 04 Sept 24. German Armed Forces call off another 30,000 intercom sets with hearing protection function from Rheinmetall. The German Bundeswehr has commissioned Rheinmetall to supply a second batch of the intercom with hearing protection function – SMG (Sprechsatz mit Gehörschutzfunktion) for short. The troops are to receive a further 30,000 sets, divided into 8,000 command SMGs and 22,000 soldier SMGs. Delivery is scheduled to begin in mid-2025 and be completed by the end of 2025. The order is worth around €55 m net. An initial call-off for the delivery of 30,000 sets was already issued in April 2024. Both delivery batches will be financed from the special fund. In April 2024 Rheinmetall has been commissioned by the Bundeswehr to supply up to 191,000 sets of the “intercom with hearing protection function”. The framework contract has a seven-year term and a potential order volume of up to €400m net. The SMG is a key project for tactical communications which is of cross-sectional importance for the entire force. The intercom with hearing protection function includes modern active capsule ear protection that attenuates harmful impulse noise and amplifies quiet sounds. It also has a microphone and can be connected to various radio devices so that radio communication is possible. In addition to the combined headset, the scope of supply includes various push-to-talk (PTT) buttons and different cable sets for connecting to a range of radios and on-board communication systems. Rheinmetall has involved two leading manufacturers as subcontractors for the project: 3M Deutschland GmbH with the ComTac VIII headset and CeoTronics AG with CT-Multi PTT 1C and 3C. The SmG is compatible with the Rheinmetall-supplied new combat helmet as well as with other Bundeswehr helmet types. This order of the second batch underlines Rheinmetall’s leading role in the field of military equipment. The technology company is the prime contractor for the System Infantry Soldier of the Future – Expanded System to the Bundeswehr. Rheinmetall markets various configurations of its Gladius soldier system internationally.
05 Sept 24. Mobile Air Surveillance Radar Set for Swedish Armored Vehicles. Saab is set supply its Giraffe 1X radar for a Swedish Sisu GTP armored vehicle, providing quality air defense target data, drone detection, and sense and warn capabilities. Saab has received an order to provide its Giraffe 1X surface radar for the Swedish Defence Materiel Administration (FMV) for one of Sweden’s Ground Based Air Defence (GBAD) solutions. 08 Sept 24. ICEYE, the global leader in synthetic aperture radar (SAR) satellite operations for Earth Observation, persistent monitoring, and natural catastrophe solutions, has today announced signing the contract for the Greek National Satellite Space Project Axis 1.2 (radar program) for the Greek Space Agency and Greek Ministry of Digital Governance, together with the European Space Agency. Axis 1.2 covers the Greek SAR Space Segment and includes both radar imagery and the development of a Greek Observation System with two ICEYE SAR satellites, and their launches. In addition to sovereign satellites, Greece will also have access to ICEYE’s existing SAR satellite constellation, the largest in the world, and can start monitoring its areas of interest already while building its space capabilities. Since 2018, ICEYE has launched 38 satellites for its own constellation and for the use of its customers internationally. Delivery of the ICEYE SAR imagery to the Government of Greece is expected to commence immediately, providing quick access to monitor the relevant areas of interest. 06 Sept 24. The Netherlands – AIM-9X Sidewinder Block II Missiles. The State Department has made a determination approving a possible Foreign Military Sale to the Government of the Netherlands of AIM-9X Sidewinder Block II Missiles and related equipment for an estimated cost of $691m. The Defense Security Cooperation Agency delivered the required certification notifying Congress of this possible sale today. The Government of the Netherlands has requested to buy two hundred forty-six (246) AIM-9X Sidewinder Block II tactical missiles; six (6) AIM-9X Block II sidewinder captive air training missiles (CATM); two (2) AIM-9X Block II Sidewinder special air training missiles; fourteen (14) AIM-9X Block II Sidewinder tactical guidance units; and two (2) AIM-9X Block II Sidewinder CATM guidance units. Also included are missile containers; spares; personnel training and training equipment; classified and unclassified publications and technical documents; warranties; U.S. Government and contractor engineering, technical, and logistics support services; and other related elements of logistics and program support. This proposed sale will support the foreign policy goals and national security objectives of the United States by improving the security of a NATO Ally that is a force for political stability and economic progress in Europe. The proposed sale will improve the Netherlands’ capability to meet current and future threats and enhance interoperability with the United States and other NATO members. The Netherlands will have no difficulty absorbing these weapons into its armed forces. The proposed sale of this equipment and support will not alter the basic military balance in the region. British defense group BAE Systems said on Thursday the U.S. Army has awarded the company a $440m contract to produce additional Bradley Fighting Vehicles to replace the ones the government had already sent to Ukraine. The Navy awarded L3 Technologies Inc., Communication Systems-West a $587.4m contract Aug. 26 for the engineering and manufacturing development of the Next Generation Jammer Low Band (NGJ-LB) system. The NGJ-LB is part of a larger NGJ system that will augment and ultimately replace the legacy ALQ-99 Tactical Jamming System on the EA-18G Growler aircraft. Using the latest software and Active Electronically Scanned Array technologies, NGJ will provide enhanced AEA capabilities to disrupt, deny and degrade enemy air defense and ground communication systems. This latest increment will counter a larger capacity of adversary systems in the low-frequency electromagnetic spectrum. NGJ-LB is scheduled to reach early operational capability in 2029. The U.S. and Australian fleets are one step closer to getting the next increment of the U.S. Navy’s most advanced airborne electronic attack (AEA) system. A small Australian company, Advanced Navigation, scored a big win here today, signing agreements with Korean giant Hanwha to provide a unique inertial guidance systems for a range of the Asian company’s weapons. Leonardo DRS – Israel Trailers FMS – The State Department has made a determination approving a possible Foreign Military Sale to the Government of Israel of Heavy Duty Tank Trailers and related equipment for an estimated cost of $164.6 million. The Defense Security Cooperation Agency delivered the required certification notifying Congress of this possible sale today. The Government of Israel has requested to buy additional Heavy Duty Tank Trailers (HDTT) that will be added to a previously implemented case whose value was under the congressional notification threshold. The original FMS case, valued at $40.1 million ($0 in MDE), included HDTTs; spare and repair parts; tool kits; driver tools; corrosion protection; publications and technical documentation; U.S. Government support; technical and logistics support services; storage; and other related elements of logistics and program support. This notification is for the items in the original case and the additional HDTTs. The estimated total cost is $164.6m. Deliveries are estimated to begin in 2027. The United States is committed to the security of Israel, and it is vital to U.S. national interests to assist Israel to develop and maintain a strong and ready self-defense capability. This proposed sale is consistent with those objectives. The proposed sale will improve Israel’s capability to meet current and future threats in the defense of its borders. Israel will have no difficulty absorbing this equipment into its armed forces. The proposed sale of this equipment and support will not alter the basic military balance in the region. The PASEO Joint Fires solution provides the long-range Intelligence, Surveillance, Target Acquisition, & Reconnaissance sensor for the Redback IFV supplied by Hanwha to the Australian Defence Forces (ADF) under the LAND 400 Phase 3 project. The contract calls for the production and delivery of PASEO Joint Fires sensors and associated ancillaries. This contract leverages the world leading position of the PASEO family which has sold more than 2,500 units for IFVs, Main Battle Tank and Joint Fires worldwide. It integrates high performances day and night all weather optronics sensors and offers 360° coverage with a high-rate sectorial scanning capability. The PASEO Joint Fires includes Safran’s Geonyx inertial navigation system, which provides precise and reliable positions, even if satellite navigation signals are unavailable or inaccessible (GNSS-Denied environment). The project will continue Safran’s legacy of providing premium optronics sensor solutions for the Royal Australian Navy and the Australian Army. Safran Electronics and Defense Australasia already successfully delivered its portable optronic solutions under LAND 17 project aimed at enhancing Australian’s artillery capabilities and LAND 300 project to equip the Australian soldiers with nextgeneration surveillance and target acquisitions ancillaries. As well as its onboard day and night sight MINEO integrated on the Hanwha Defence Australia’s Huntsman family of vehicles under the LAND 8116 Phase 1 project.

10 Sept 24. KBR (NYSE: KBR) today announced that it has been awarded a contract to continue to deliver technical design services at HMAS Stirling by the Security and Estate Group and the Australian Submarine Agency. This work will support the sovereign nuclear-powered submarines facilities and infrastructure program, enabling the Submarine Rotational Force (SRF) – West, and accelerating Australia’s ability to safely own, operate, maintain and sustain its own future nuclear powered submarine fleet. Building on the design and construction work already underway, KBR will continue to integrate the unique capabilities of Frazer Nash Consultancy, a KBR company, to support a safety-led approach for nuclear technical solutions. KBR’s expertise involves developing solutions for maritime infrastructure, low-level radioactive waste management, submarine maintenance support facilities, estate planning, digital integration and systems engineering requirements. The new work at HMAS Stirling follows KBR’s announcement that the company would provide concept design services for the new nuclear-powered submarine construction yard at Osborne in South Australia, which is critical to deliver the new SSN-AUKUS submarines to the Royal Australian Navy.

06 Sep 24. Ammunition and Maintenance for Ukrainian F-16s. The Netherlands is going to provide maintenance equipment and materials for Ukraine’s F-16s, as well as air-to-air missiles that the aircraft can use to defend Ukrainian airspace. 06 Sept 24. Airbus Helicopters has been awarded a contract for 12 H225M multi-role helicopters by the Republic of Iraq. The contract was signed in Baghdad by the Minister of Defence of Iraq Mr Thabet al-Abbassi in the presence of the French Ambassador Patrick Durel. These helicopters will be operated by the Iraqi Army Aviation command replacing older Mi-17s for a wider range of missions: counter-terrorism, special operations, tactical troop transport, attack, ground fire support, MEDEVAC and combat search and rescue. Deliveries will start in 2025. Iraq already operates a fleet of Airbus helicopters from the H125, H135 and H145 families.
09 Sept 24. Singapore – AIM-120C-8 Advanced Medium Range Air-to-Air Missiles. The State Department has made a determination approving a possible Foreign Military Sale to the Government of Singapore of AIM-120C-8 Advanced Medium Range Air-to-Air Missiles and related equipment for an estimated cost of $133m. The Defense Security Cooperation Agency delivered the required certification notifying Congress of this possible sale today. The Government of Singapore has requested to buy fifty-four (54) AIM-120C-8 Advanced Medium Range Air-to-Air Missiles (AMRAAM) and two (2) AIM-120C-8 AMRAAM guidance sections. The following non-MDE items will also be included: AMRAAM control section spares, missile containers, and support equipment; Common Munitions Built-In-Test (BIT)/Reprogramming Equipment (CMBRE); ADU-89/E Adapter Group Computer Test Set; spare parts, consumables and accessories, and repair and return support; weapon system support and software, and classified software delivery and support; classified and unclassified publications and technical documentation; training support and equipment; studies and surveys; U.S. Government and contractor engineering, technical, and logistics support services; and other related elements of logistics and program support. The estimated total cost is $133m. This proposed sale will support the foreign policy and national security objectives of the United States by improving the security of a strategic partner that is an important force for political stability and economic progress in Asia. The proposed sale will meet Singapore’s need to maintain operational readiness and interoperability with U.S. and coalition forces. This sale increases Singapore’s effectiveness in both training and combat operations and contributes to stability and deterrence in the Indo-Pacific region. Singapore will have no difficulty absorbing these weapons into its armed forces. The proposed sale of this equipment and support will not alter the basic military balance in the region. 06 Sep 24. Kongsberg to Deliver JSM to Australia. Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace (‘KONGSBERG’) has signed a contract with the Commonwealth of Australia to deliver the Joint Strike Missile (JSM) for the F-35A aircraft. The initial contract is worth about NOK 1bn. The specific JSM capabilities enhance the advanced F-35A aircraft, creating a formidable capability against land and sea targets, and boosting Australia’s ability to strike targets from long-range. The Australian government is acquiring quantum optical atomic clocks from Adelaide-based QuantX Labs to deliver position navigation and timing capabilities for the Australian Defence Force. Two contracts worth $2.7m will enable AUKUS partners to develop PNT capabilities to support superior decision advantage and enhanced maritime domain awareness, which are key objectives under AUKUS Pillar II. These QuantX Labs clocks contribute to accelerate the development of quantum technology for precision navigation and timing in military capability. QuantX will also deliver an optical atomic clock as part of a mobile test and measurement system for Defence in early 2025. The ADF will use the quantum clock to test and evaluate timing in critical defence hardware, like communication and navigation systems, to determine operational resilience in global positioning systems (GPS) degraded environments.
