17 Feb 19. Harris Corporation to Provide Multi-Channel Airborne Networking Radios to International Customer.

Highlights:

  • Harris RF-7850A-MR is world’s first airborne certified two-channel networking radio
  • Is certified and being installed into AH-64 Apache helicopter platform
  • Multi-channel radio delivers increased capability in same SWaP as single-channel radios

Harris Booth #03-A21 — Harris Corporation (NYSE:HRS) is providing an international customer with Falcon III® RF-7850A Multi-Channel Airborne Networking Radios – the world’s first airborne certified two-channel networking radio.

The RF-7850A-MR has been certified and installed into AH-64 Apache helicopters, and is being delivered for use by the customer on that platform.  The RF-7850A-MR allows users to extend ground VHF and UHF capabilities to airborne operations in both fixed and rotary winged aircraft. It provides both multi-channel and multi-band capabilities – all within the same critical size, weight and power requirements as a traditional single-channel narrowband radio. The radio’s wideband capability provides users with high-speed networked data and video and full interoperability with legacy narrowband radios, while extending battlefield networked communications beyond line of sight.

“The RF-7850A-MR delivers groundbreaking technology and capabilities for airborne radio users, while extending the intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance capability of the entire network,” said Christopher Aebli, vice president and general manager, International Tactical Communications. “The multi-channel radio provides increased wideband and narrowband battlefield communications capabilities for the large base of Apache helicopters used around the globe.

17 Feb 19. Harris Corporation Launches Falcon Net Ecosystem.

Highlights:

  • The Harris Falcon Net Ecosystem™ delivers a connected battlefield for the modern tactical network
  • The new platform encompasses the entire ecosystem of connected communications including radios, waveforms, tactical applications and network services expertise
  • The ecosystem provides commanders with a system that easily architects, deploys, uses and maintains a highly effective integrated tactical network

The Falcon Net Ecosystem™ encompasses the entire ecosystem of connected communications including radios, waveforms, services, applications and network management. The seamless sharing of the common operational picture across all echelons delivers a tactical advantage on every mission.

“Our warfighters need more than just the ability to communicate on the battlefield, they need the ability to aggregate and disseminate information across the network,” said Dana Mehnert, president, Harris Communication Systems. “Harris’ Falcon Net Ecosystem ensures warfighters have the tools on hand to maneuver, fight, and win on the contested and congested battlefield.”

The Falcon Net Ecosystem™ consists of four main components:

  • 50+ waveforms delivering spectrum superiority, with an architecture that provides access to a full range of frequencies
  • Falcon family of radios that are software defined to protect customer investment and designed to run legacy, current and future waveforms
  • Falcon tactical applications that allow warfighters to visualize and manage the battlefield
  • Falcon network services that help users create and maintain their tactical network

Harris’ family of advanced radio technology enables waveform commonality, mission flexibility and secure centralized management. The Falcon Net Ecosystem™ provides a simple-to-use platform on which a robust tactical C4I network can be architected, deployed, used and maintained.

17 Feb 19. Harris Corporation Introduces High-Capacity Line-of-Sight Radio with Frequency Hopping Capability.

Highlights:

  • Greater transmission security guards against increasingly sophisticated adversaries
  • Real-time video and data sharing increases force effectiveness
  • Optional integrated five-watt amplifier provides line-of-sight transmissions up to 255 kilometers

Harris Booth #03-A21 — Harris Corporation (NYSE:HRS) has introduced the Falcon III® RF-7850W high-capacity line-of-sight radio with frequency hopping capability – providing warfighters in hostile communications environments with greater transmission security over the entire 4.4 to 5.875 GHz frequency band.

This networking-capable radio allows users to share real-time, high-definition intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance data – increasing operational effectiveness for forces from the tactical edge to mobile commanders. The RF-7850W also provides wireless broadband capability for fixed, at-the-halt and on-the-move operations in vehicular, maritime or airborne environments, while automatically choosing the strongest available signal strength without the need for user intervention. An optional integrated five-watt power amplifier provides clear line-of-sight transmissions up to 255 kilometers. The radio is also compatible with existing RF-7800W over-the-air networks used by current Harris customers.

“The threat of detection and jamming from increasingly sophisticated adversaries is a major communications challenge in today’s modern battlefield. The Harris RF-7850W frequency hopping capability effectively defends against that risk,” said Christopher Aebli, vice president and general manager, International Tactical Communications. “Harris is committed to continually improving our radios’ countermeasures to effectively defend against the constantly evolving threats our users face on the battlefield.”
