13 Sep 06. Dell to Delay Filing, Suspend Share Buyback. Dell Inc. said it is delaying the filing of its latest quarterly report with the Securities & Exchange Commission amid an expanded government probe of the computer maker’s accounting. The PC maker also said it’s suspending share repurchases and postponing a meeting with analysts that was to have been held Wednesday. Shares of Dell fell 77 cents, or 3.5% to $20.88 in trading on the Nasdaq Stock Market. Dell said it is unable to file its 10-Q report for the quarter ended Aug. 4 because of questions raised in connection with the recently disclosed informal probe of the company’s accounting by the SEC. The Round Rock, Texas, company said the SEC requests for information have been joined by a similar request from the U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York, who has subpoenaed documents related to Dell’s financial reporting from 2002 to the present.
