25 Jul 02. Bombardier Inc. (BBD.B) won’t make an offer for any of Fairchild Dornier’s assets, even if the collapsed company’s financial situation changes.
The Montreal -based aircraft maker last month withdrew from talks with German- U.S. aerospace company Fairchild Dornier, saying a commercial review of operations concluded that a bid wouldn’t be in the interest of Bombardier or its shareholders.
“That view will not change,” Bombardier President and Chief Executive Robert Brown told reporters during Farnborough .Fairchild Dornier filed for insolvency in April. Many in the industry expect the company will be broken up if it can’t find investors or sell some production lines.
Bombardier had discussed the possibility of taking over Fairchild Dornier’s new 70-seat 728 jet and facilities.
