20 May 05. Defence Projects: National Audit Office (NAO) Report
The NAO published its ‘gold standard’ for project control of major Defence equipment projects. Some Defence projects were said to be “at the very forefront of good project control”. The acquisition of Titan and Trojan armoured engineer vehicles and the recent refit of HMS ILLUSTRIOUS were deemed to have performed particularly well against the ‘gold standard’.
Comment: The Report will be of most interest to the Defence procurement specialist, but it contains useful information for the wider Defence community. ‘Driving the Successful Delivery of Major Defence Projects’ is available from TSO and from The Parliamentary Bookshop (Tel: 020-7219 3890), as HC 30, for £11:25.
