UK-based James Fisher Defence has released first details of the development and in-water demonstration of a new special operations Swimmer Delivery Vehicle (SDV) known as SDV(X). Built as an advanced demonstrator, the free flooding or ‘wet’ submersible is designed to enable the clandestine delivery of up to eight fully-equipped divers (including pilot and navigator). 20 Oct 11. Korea is developing the first indigenous tilt-rotor-type
unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV), Defense Acquisition Programme Administration (DAPA) head Noh Dae-rae confirmed. “We’re one of only a few countries in the world developing a tilt-rotor UAV,” Dae-rae added. The UAV will have the same vertical take-off capability of a helicopter and the speed and range of a traditional winged aircraft. The aircraft is expected to be used to conduct reconnaissance missions. Korea Aerospace Research Institute (KARI) will be working on the development of the tilt-rotor UAV, according to Yonhap News Agency. (Source: airforcetechnology.com)
