Thermoteknix have launched the shutterless 384×288 25µ pitch MicroCAM module – a featherweight 30g (1oz), miniature 4x4cm (1.57×1.57 inch) thermal imager with a power consumption of <0.6 Watt. MicroCAM uses a full third less than its nearest competitor. It was also announced at the launch that MicroCAM features Thermoteknix MIRICLE XTiTM shutterless technology and that with fewer components and no mechanical shutter assembly, the MicroCAM engine was designed with large volume OEM integration in mind. Thermoteknix Managing Director Dr Richard Salisbury said: The market has been crying out for a device specificially designed for extremely low-powered, weight-critical, cost-sensitive OEM applications and MicroCAM ticks all the boxes here. With its low power, size and weight, we’ve created the ultimate engine that can be easily integrated into any handheld, portable, UAV, night vision or sighting systems product. Incorporating Thermoteknix’ unique XTi shutterless technology into the MicroCAM was the icing on the cake for this groundbreaking product which I am very proud to say already beats the closest competition hands down and opens up new and exciting volume markets for thermal imaging. In addition to its class leading size, power consumption and weight, Thermoteknix XTiTM shutterless technology means that MicroCAM is free from the image-freeze associated with cameras requiring the traditional Non-Uniformity correction calibration. The result is a more robust, reliable, completely silent ‘Always On – Never Blind’ thermal camera.
