21 Jun 04. Renault Trucks and its Renault Trucks Defense Business Unit launched their new range of SHERPA tactical trucks at Eurosatory 2004. Vehicles which all offer outstanding mobility and payload capacity. In combat zones, support vehicles must be able to operate as close to the action as possible, deploy in a minimum amount of time, and be able to carry out swift, individualised supply missions to elementary units. This range of rigid trucks is designed to carry out all transport operations on the field, including the most challenging.
The versatile tactical vehicles in the Renault Sherpa range fulfil these requirements perfectly:
– fording capacity: able to operate on even the most challenging terrain at consistent average speeds.
– adaptability: engines providing essential speed and response, capable of handling a wide range of payloads and cabs that satisfy every demand in terms of equipment and protection for the crew.
– modernity: use of the latest components and units, while at the same time benefiting from the heritage and characteristics that made the famous GBC range so successful.
– transportability: these vehicles are just as easy to deploy by rail as by air.
The new range includes several models:
Sherpa 5, Sherpa 10, Sherpa 15 and Sherpa 20,
with 215 bhp, 362 bhp and 412 bhp engines.
Militarised civilian vehicles
Designed to operate under the severest conditions, the Renault Kerax range of vehicles are ideally suited for defence operations. Renault Trucks has introduced several versions for military purposes: the heavy 8×8 logistic truck, the 8×4 breakdown or removable flatbed vehicle and also the KERAX 6×6 with airfreightable cab, as well as the 4×4 VTCM (Crotale weapons system) version.
These vehicles – epitomising versatility – are just as much at home on asphalt roads as dirt tracks, and possess all the qualities needed to ensure their success whatever the task, and whatever the conditions: performance, comfort, sturdiness, efficiency and a long working life.
Renault Trucks has acquired vast experience in the field of mobility, applicable to civilian or militarised trucks as well as tactical or combat vehicles. Expertise which has enabled it to forge long-term working relationships with armed forces. A fact clearly demonstrated by its comprehensive range of wheeled military and armoured vehicles for logistic and tactical transport, as well as for carrying armament systems.
