10 June 22. Patria’s new C-sUAS Concept – Countering small Unmanned Aircraft Systems. Patria’s new Counter-small Unmanned Aircraft Systems (C-sUAS) concept is based on completely new and unique type of effector, which provides its users short-range protection from all types of Class 1 drones. The Patria C-sUAS concept is a high-grade effector, yet simple, scalable, and cost-effective way to provide effective defence against small, unmanned aircraft systems.
Patria’s C-sUAS concept is based on a completely new and unique type of effector, which provides its users with effective short-range protection from all types of Class 1 drones and from small-sized loitering munition. Today, drones already pose a significant threat to all military assets on the modern battlefield. Small drones also pose a threat to many civilian assets. Patria’s C-sUAS is a concept for securing both military and civilian assets from drone threats thanks to its effectiveness, safe use, and minimum collateral damage.
Performance
The exceptional performance of Patria’s C-sUAS concept is based on a unique and innovative projectile and its effector capsule. During the development phase, optimum performance has been achieved with numerous tests both in the laboratory and in the field. The projectile is optimized to work at a distance of approximately 100 metres from the launcher. The projectile can be optimized for other distances if required, such as for automated launcher systems with target tracking capabilities. When launched, the projectile flies to the defined distance and then activates the effector capsule. When the capsule opens, it spreads a large amount of long strings into the air. This string shred creates an effective stopping cloud. The stopping effect of the string cloud is based on a special type of material that quickly clings to the drone’s propellers and motors. The drone will immediately lose its controllability and fall from the sky.
Scalability
Patria’s C-sUAS solution can be used on its own with disposable handheld launchers. The launchers can also be fixed-type and integrated on an armoured vehicle, naval vessel or fixed structures. Patria’s C-sUAS solution can also be used to secure crowded events, military bases, and correctional facilities. Its simple handheld launcher even makes it possible to implement C-sUAS capability at squad or single-user level. The fixed launchers can easily be integrated into a variety of sensor systems (e.g. radars, EO, target tracking). Patria’s C-sUAS can be integrated as part of any existing or future C-sUAS system to provide the last line of counter-UAS defence capability.
Cost-effectiveness
Patria’s C-sUAS concept is a high-grade effector – a simple, scalable, and cost-effective way to provide effective defence against Class 1 unmanned aircraft systems.
* Effective against Class 1 UAVs (e.g. quadcopters, fixed wings)
* No collateral damage
* Cost-effective solution
* Scalable solution – from a simple portable handheld launcher to a vehicle platform-integrated and automated system with required sensors (e.g. optronic, radar)
* Patent pending

08 June 22. SCD introduces its innovative range of solutions across the IR spectrum for a wide range of tactical, persistent surveillance, border and coastal protection, AFV and drone applications.
Eurosatory, Paris, June 13-17, Hall 9 Stand E633
SCD a global leader in the development and manufacture of a wide range of cooled and uncooled infrared detectors and high-power laser diodes – will highlight five of its core infrared solutions for a wide range of applications, at Eurosatory 2022.
Persistent surveillance with the Crane solution:
There is a growing need for cost-effective persistent surveillance solutions for multiple platforms, such as UAVs, drones, and fixed- and rotary-wing aircraft. SCD has introduced the world’s first 5-micron, 5 mega-pixel IR detector – the Crane. This breakthrough product is a game changer in EO/IR applications, offering excellent performance in a small, lightweight, and compact product. The Crane enables persistent surveillance from a cost-effective tactical platform or drone, while overcoming the need for multiple UAVs to be deployed, each with its own payload, to cover large areas. Instead, very high resolution can be achieved with just one highly-reliable Crane detector, reducing costs and operational complexity.
Tactical EO/IR with the Sparrow and SWIFT families of solutions:
The demand for Low SWaP solutions for tactical EO/IR applications has been growing consistently over the past few years. Tactical applications such as hand held, drone based, and AFVs are demanding smaller, lighter IR solutions in the MW and SWIR domains, all with increased functionality. SCD is showcasing two cutting-edge solutions for the tactical domain.
The first is the Sparrow MWIR video engine family, which was developed specifically to meet the requirements for tactical systems. Launched just two years ago as part of SCD’s product portfolio expansion, the Sparrow has been selected for major programs of record in the US, the UK, Australia, Spain and Israel. Recently, the Sparrow was selected for two major programs of record in the US (hand held and RWS). SCD has further expanded the Sparrow family of products, adding new capabilities and new product lines, enabling increased operational capabilities. Production of the Sparrow product line is being ramped up in 2022 to a rate of more than 1000 units per year, and the company expects to double this quantity in the next 18 months.
The second tactical solution SCD is bringing to Eurosatory is the unique SWIFT line of low SWaP-C SWIR imagers, which meet multiple tactical needs in a single product, implementing SCD’s patented ALPD mode to detect laser events. Specially designed for very low SWaP-C applications, and featuring advanced
InGaAs technology for very high sensitivity, it includes embedded ‘see spot’ capabilities for all weather conditions and coded spot tracking, even in low-light-level applications, including complete darkness.
Advanced IR capabilities for border and coastal surveillance with unique MWIR and SWIR solutions:
Border security and coastal surveillance require unique capabilities combining both state-of-the-art IR performance in all-weather scenarios, and maximum lifetime and reliability. At the event, SCD will be featuring two IR imaging solutions for border security, coastal surveillance and long-range surveillance, specifically relevant to meeting today’s challenges.
The first solution is the SCD Cardinal 1280 HD which is a high-resolution, high-sensitivity InGaAs SWIR detector. Suitable for 24/7 surveillance, the 10-micron pixel detector uses the SWIR wavelength for low-light imaging, and provides an additional 50% DRI over CMOS or CCD day channels available today. This is particularly required in severe weather conditions (smoke, dust, fog, rain), and changing light conditions when visibility is poor, such as at sunrise and sunset. The Cardinal already has a proven track record, having been integrated into major programs in the US, Canada, Australia, Israel, the UK, Germany, and elsewhere.
The second solution is the newest member of the SCD BB1280 MWIR family. This product was developed specifically for the increased demand for extended MTBF and high reliability, providing over 45,00 hours operation – a mission critical demand for these types of applications.
“We are proud to offer such a wide range of solutions across the IR spectrum,” says Dan Slasky, CEO of SCD. “SCD is committed to excellence by continuously enhancing and developing new and innovative products. We are showcasing numerous new solutions at Eurosatory, and expect to announce the completion of development of a number of additional cutting-edge solutions later this year. Eurosatory, Paris, June 13-17, Hall-6, Stand No. D-634
Netline Communications Technologies Ltd. – a leading developer and manufacturer of high-end electronic warfare and spectrum dominance systems for defense forces and homeland security agencies – is to unveil the new generation of its DroneNet RD Sensor at Eurosatory 2022. The rapid deployment (RD) multi-layered protection system now covers all frequency ranges for detection, identification, tracking (localization), and mitigation (jamming) of hostile drones.
The compact system, which is capable of ultra-fast deployment by a small tactical team, can be operated directly both from the control station and remotely, thus enabling full force protection.
The DroneNet’s comprehensive protective offering consists of three defense layers, operating sequentially in real time and activated automatically upon threat detection. Each layer is capable of operating as a stand-alone system and interfacing with other defense systems.
During the detection phase, DroneNet searches for activity patterns corresponding to the stored signatures in the 400MHz, 800/900MHz, 2.4GHz and 5.8GHz bands. Once a match is found, the C4I console issues an alert that a drone has been detected, including its type, enabling a finely-tuned and timely response for mitigation. The system also includes a Wi-Fi drone sensor, enabling detection of all commercial Wi-Fi drones available today.
DroneNet’s near-zero false-alarm rate is achieved using an SDR SIGINT receiver, which identifies the hostile drone’s spectral signature, regardless of its protocol data or any encryption employed.
Upon detection, Netline’s DroneNet RD jammer blocks all potential frequencies used by commercial drones. By enabling jamming of the control and telemetry channel, video downlink transmission and all GNSS signals, the DroneNet RD jammer enables the user to achieve the desired effect for different threat scenarios.
“The new generation of the DroneNet system is better than ever, suited for tackling the more comprehensive variety of drones that are in operation today,” says Yallon Bahat, CEO of Netline. “By detecting and blocking all frequency ranges used by commercial drone manufacturers around the world, and with the combination of fast deployment, small size and weight, excellent performance and the option for remote operation, the DroneNet gives tactical forces the agility to operate in a wide range of scenarios, while providing a higher level of protection. Netline’s systems have been operationally proven for over two decades, and we are already seeing interest from our customers around the world in the new generation of DroneNet.”
The DroneNet family of comprehensive solutions has been designed to prevent unauthorized drones – whether on the move or stationary – from entering protected airspace, such as over deployed military forces, over strategic facilities, or in VIP protection arenas.
