PURCHASE OF SELF-PROPELLED HOWITZERS
The Indian Army is also purchasing 155/52 calibre self-propelled howitzers. The Army wants to equip all 230 artillery regiments with 155mm guns by 2025. Presently, the army operates around 14 different calibre guns. For the self-propelled howitzers the Indian Army has sent Request for Information (RFI) to BAE Systems, Ground Systems Division, of
U.S.; General Dynamics Land Systems of U.S.; Huta Stalowa Wola, Military Production Centre of Poland; Kerametal Ltd of Slovak Republic; Rheinmetall of Germany; Nexter of France; TDA Armaments of France; Krauss-Maffel Wegmann of Germany; SMS Ltd of Slovak Republic; Firtina of Turkey; RDM Technology of Netherlands; Ruang Land Systems of Germany; Samsung Techwin of South Korea; Rosoboronoexport of Russia;
Soltam Systems of Israel; BAE Systems, UK; Singapore Technologies; GIAT of France; Uraltransmash of Russia and Bumar of Poland. The Indian Army is to purchase around 1600 guns of 155mm/52 calibre guns worth $6 billion. However, the procurement of these guns is already behind schedule.
