09 Sep 09. Light Protected Patrol Vehicle (LPPV): Expressions of Interest. The Defence Equipment Minister said (9 Sep 09) that some 30 expressions of interest were received for the LPPV programme following publication in the Defence Contracts Bulletin (25 Feb 09). Pre-Qualification Questionnaires were issued in response to the expressions of interest and 16 responses received. The responses are currently being evaluated and down-selected. It remains the intention that the vehicle should enter service in 2011.
Comment: The LPPV requirement was described in the ‘Bulletin’ as being for 400 vehicles to be production ready in 2010, for delivery into service in 2011. LPPV is to be a wheeled vehicle with an estimated gross weight of around six to seven tonnes; replacing in-service platforms based on the Snatch Land Rover.
