PARLIAMENTARY QUESTIONS

September 30, 2008 by

30 Sep 08. The Defence Committee is undertaking an inquiry to examine the Ministry of Defence’s performance against its 2004 Public Sector Agreement (PSA) targets, which include targets covering military readiness, the recruitment and retention of Service personnel, and efficiency savings. The MoD’s final assessment of its performance against the 2004 targets is set out in the MoD’s Annual Report and Accounts 2007-08. The Committee will also be examining the new targets established for the Department for the next four years, as well as other expenditure and performance issues.
The Committee would welcome written evidence to the inquiry. This should be sent to the Clerk of the Defence Committee by Friday 24 October 2008.
Evidence sessions
The Defence Committee will be taking evidence from Sir Bill Jeffrey KCB, Permanent Under Secretary of State at the Ministry of Defence (MoD), and Trevor Woolley CB, MoD’s Finance Director, on Tuesday 4 November 2008 at 10.30 am; and from the Secretary of State the following week (details to be confirmed later). These sessions will both take place at the House of Commons.
Those wishing to attend the meetings should check the exact venue by contacting the House of Commons Public Information Office on 020 7219 4272 on the day before the hearing.
