21 Apr 26. Patria-led eALLIANCE programme to collaborate with Ukrainian IRON Cluster and Double Tap Investments
Patria, Double Tap Investments Ltd (DTI) and IRON have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) at Drone Autonomy conference in Lviv, Ukraine on Wednesday 22 April 2026. The agreement formalises the collaboration between the Patria-led eALLIANCE programme, DTI and the IRON Cluster, including information exchange, joint testing, and the planning of shared projects.
ON, based in Lviv, Ukraine, is a non-governmental defence technology cluster that brings together over 200 companies and start-ups into an innovative ecosystem. Members of IRON develop cutting-edge technological solutions in robotics, electronics, radio communications, and unmanned systems, delivering innovation directly to the front line. Double Tap Investments is a Finnish-Ukrainian defence investment firm, established 2023 to accelerate battlefield innovation. DTI deploys capital and advisory to Ukrainian defence-tech startups. The collaboration further strengthens the defence capabilities of both Ukraine and Finland, whilst also providing opportunities to identify new business prospects.

eALLIANCE is a Finnish collaboration programme partly funded by Business Finland. Within the programme, Patria leads research, development and innovation activities collaborating with more than 50 leading technology companies, research institutes and universities. The objective is to integrate disruptive technologies from the civil, security and defence sectors to build safer societies. In addition, eALLIANCE aims to facilitate the development of new, innovative technologies and solutions for defence and security, and to help Finnish companies gain access to international defence markets.
Russia Develops New Lys-2 Interceptor Drones with Automatic Target Acquisition
The Russian military has begun receiving Lys-2 interceptor drones capable of shooting down Ukrainian UAVs.
This was reported by an analyst from The Dead District, who posted photos of the drones on social media platform X.
The drone has been equipped with automatic target acquisition, allowing it to track and engage aerial targets.
The new Russian interceptor drone is designed using a ‘wing’ aerodynamic configuration. The ‘wing’ configuration generates lift through forward motion, so the drone does not ‘hover’ in the air continuously like a copter, but rather glides forward efficiently and is capable of reaching higher speeds and altitudes.
Typically, such interceptors reach speeds of 200–230 km/h and have a range of up to 5 km.

The introduction of the Lys-2 interceptor drone reflects Russia’s growing focus on counter-UAV capabilities in response to the widespread use of drones by Ukraine. GomSpace and Ukrainian partner STETMAN today signed an agreement at the EU-Ukraine Business Summit in Brussels, with representatives from the EU’s Directorate-General for Enlargement and the Eastern Neighborhood (DG ENEST), the European Investment Bank (EIB), and the Ukrainian government in attendance.
Under the agreement the partners will proceed to establish the UASAT joint venture in Ukraine to jointly develop the capacity to enable sovereign satellite communication capabilities for Ukraine for dual-use purposes.
“Satellite communications have become a critical enabler for both civilian society and national security in times of crisis. Through UASAT, we are combining Ukrainian operational experience with GomSpace’s space technology expertise to build a sovereign capability that strengthens resilience and long-term independence”, said Dmytro Stetsenko, Founder and CEO of STETMAN.
The partners will launch the first satellite in the fall of 2026 to provide operational feedback for subsequent steps in the UASAT roadmap.

22 Apr 26. Sweden to Supply Ukraine with Advanced Counter-Shahed Systems.
The Defence Forces of Ukraine will receive advanced BAE Systems Tridon Mk2 air defence systems from Sweden. These systems will enhance Ukraine’s air defence capabilities in countering Shahed drones and other aerial threats.
Sweden will allocate €400 million to procure these systems, nearly one-third of the new €1.2 billion military assistance package announced in February.
The TRIDON Mk2 is a truck-mounted 40 mm anti-aircraft gun system that addresses a gap in today’s air defence. The system has multi-target capability and can engage a wide range of aerial threats, including drones, cruise missiles and aircraft.
Additionally, it can target ground threats such as armoured vehicles, providing protection and security for both military forces and civil infrastructure.
“We are more committed than ever to providing our customers with protection from ever-evolving aerial threats,” said Lena Gillström, president of BAE Systems Bofors. “The TRIDON Mk2 has been designed for today’s warfare, and we will continue to deliver cutting-edge solutions to put our customers in the best position to meet future challenges.”
In February, on behalf of Sweden and Denmark, the FMV procured TRIDON Mk2 systems from BAE Systems under a $180m contract to donate to Ukraine, as part of a package to bolster Ukraine’s air defence capabilities.
Able to combat multiple threats quickly, TRIDON Mk2 is a high-precision, cost-effective system that is easy to deploy and simple to maintain. Its modular design allows it to adapt to changing needs and to evolve with new technologies.
Tridon Mk2 is equipped with a 40 mm Bofors 40 Mk4 automatic cannon capable of engaging targets at distances of up to 12 km, with a rate of fire of up to 300 rounds per minute. The system supports reducing the rate of fire to 200 rounds per minute, optimising ammunition expenditure and enabling adaptation to specific fire missions.
Ammunition and Carrier Platforms for Tridon Mk2
The Tridon Mk2 gun fires programmable airburst ammunition. The rounds detonate immediately in front of the target, creating a cloud of fragments. This significantly enhances effectiveness in countering unmanned aerial systems and cruise missiles.
The system can be mounted on BvS 10 tracked armoured all-terrain vehicles or Scania trucks. The system is equipped with electric drives, enabling seamless integration with a range of platforms, unlike systems that rely on hydraulic drives.
The Tridon Mk2 is a versatile air defence system combining high effectiveness, broad applicability, and low operating costs. The system is capable of simultaneously countering multiple threats, including strike and reconnaissance UAVs, aircraft, helicopters, and cruise missiles.

20 Apr 26. Terra Drone’s interceptor begins operational deployment in Ukraine.
Terra Drone Corporation has announced today (April 17) that operational deployment in Ukraine has commenced for the Terra A1 interceptor drone. The deployment is being executed through Amazing Drones, one of Terra Drone’s investee companies.
“Deployment for defence purposes has already begun with a military unit, and evaluation and feedback collection under actual operating conditions are currently underway,” Terra Drone said.
The initial deployment is based on a phased introduction model in which equipment is first provided to a unit and then expanded through additional deployments depending on the results of evaluations conducted in the field. The company said that performance verification and the identification of operational issues are currently being carried out by the unit already equipped with the system, while discussions are underway regarding further deployments and expansion to other units.
The Terra A1 was developed based on real-world operations, with particular emphasis on rapid deployability and ease of use in the field. The company said that the data obtained through actual deployment, together with feedback from operators on the ground, can be incorporated into product improvements and operational optimisation on an ongoing basis.
“Once the effectiveness of interception against low-cost, mass-deployed unmanned attack systems such as Shahed has been sufficiently verified in real-world environments, Terra Drone plans to move forward with broader deployment based on the evaluation results and strengthen its mass-production framework,” the company said in a press release. Terra Drone will also consider expansion into other regions facing similar challenges.
The Chief of the Anti-Shahed Unit of the Chernihiv Region Defense Forces said the Terra A1 is “easy to control and responds very smoothly even during sharp turns” and noted that the digital daytime camera captures targets clearly. (Source: www.unmannedairspace.info)
17 Apr 26. Bell Textron Inc., a Textron Inc. (NYSE: TXT) company, announced its formation of a subsidiary in Ukraine and plans to open a dedicated office as part of its long-term approach to industrial cooperation in the country.
The new subsidiary, named Bell Textron Ukraine, will serve as the hub for Bell’s activities in Ukraine, with a permanent office location yet to be confirmed. It will support Bell’s planned and future activities in Ukraine focused on helicopter assembly, maintenance, and repair.
The announcement follows the signing of Letters of Intent in October between Bell Textron and Ukraine’s Ministry of Economy, Ecology and Agriculture to explore areas of cooperation.
“This is a meaningful step toward building a practical, mutually beneficial cooperation with the Ukraine defense and industrial base,” said Jeffrey Schloesser, senior vice president of Strategic Pursuits, Bell. “Bell is committed to establishing a presence in Ukraine to promote collaboration and long-term growth.”
