08 Mar 19. Brazil and US agree to hone joint amphibious operations. Brazil and the US have agreed to bolster their joint amphibious capabilities through increased subject-matter expert exchanges and more combined-force humanitarian assistance/disaster response exercises, US Marine Corps Forces, South (MARFORSOUTH) told Jane’s . The greater focus on co-operative training and operations was part of a five-year agreement plan signed on 28 February by Brazilian Rear Admiral Nélio de Almeida, head of Marine Corps Doctrine Development Command (CDDCFN), and USMC Major General Michael F. Fahey III, MARFORSOUTH commander. Ships that fall under the authority of US Naval Forces Southern Command-US 4th Fleet and USMC troops will take part in the ‘UNITAS Amphibious 2019’ multinational amphibious training exercise.
