04 Oct 10. DARPA to launch support programme for FOPEN radars. The US Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) is preparing to launch the Foliage Penetration Ground Moving Target Indicator Radar Exploitation and Planning (FOPEN-GXP) programme in support of the FOPEN Reconnaissance, Surveillance, Tracking and Engagement Radar (FORESTER) and other FOPEN radars. The Panther DB6 is compliant to MIL-STD-810G, MIL-STD-461F and IP65. It has the size of a PDA, but the power of a full size computer. Panther DB6 is based on a 1.6 GHz Intel® Atom Z530 CPU, 2 GB SDRAM and up to 32GB SSD drive. The display is a 5” VGA sunlight readable transflective LCD with touch screen. DB6is standard equipped with Bluetooth, 1xUSB, SIM-slot, SD slot, speakers and docking connector with options to include GPS, WLAN, sealed LAN, sealed USB, sealed Serial, sealed Audio, WWAN, 2.0 MP camera and fingerprint reader. Converteam UK is working to complete a scaled-up design of its electromagnetic catapult (EMCAT) system that will be capable of launching the F-35C variant of the Lightning II Joint Strike Fighter from the UK Royal Navy’s new Queen Elizabeth-class aircraft carriers.
