09 Sep 10. Northrop Grumman Corporation launched a new and enhanced version of its industry-leading command and control software application Command and Control for the PC (C2PC) that it is providing for integration into the UK’s MoD Joint Command and Control Support Programme (JC2SP) to improve the core C4I capability of the programme. JC2SP is the enabling programme that brings together applications capability and command and control information in the battlespace to deliver the operational elements of network enabled capability (NEC) including planning, decision and C2 aids for the warfighter.”We continue to respond to customer needs and enhance our COTS products to meet user requirements and these latest improvements we have provided for inclusion on the Defence Information Infrastructure,” said David Taylor, managing director, C4I, Northrop Grumman Information Systems Europe. “This software uplift will greatly enhance the situational awareness capability available to UK forces.”JC2SP will enable greater interoperability and integration with the single IT infrastructure created by the Defence Information Infrastructure (DII) programme which, when delivered in full, will incorporate 150,000 terminals for 300,000 users at more than 2,000 defence sites, including on ships and deployed operations. The ATLAS consortium with Hewlett Packard Enterprise Services as the prime contractor was awarded the contract for the installation and management of the DII over 10 years. The improvements to the C2PC application focus on interoperability and useability and include capability developed from feedback received from users of previous software versions currently deployed on operations. These enhancements include Windows capable clients, an increased number of interfaces, a reduction in bandwidth for information exchange, increased track database and exchange capacity and improved security. C2PC and ICS are currently deployed in more than 40 countries with 100,000 users, making them among the most successful and widely used applications for strategic command and control systems worldwide. The system applications are regularly upgraded to keep them at the forefront of technical capability, whilst maintaining interoperability to international standards. C2PC provides a common tactical picture for operational command and control, improving situational awareness and enhancing operational and tactical decision making. It provides the user interface/core functionality for many operations command systems around the world including NATO’s Maritime Command & Control System (MCCIS), the UK MoD’s Joint Operations Command System (JOCS) and Royal Navy Command Support System (RNCSS).
