19 Feb 10. Goodrich Corporation is demonstrating a low-cost family of stabilized surveillance camera gimbals for the helicopter market that provides enhanced information-gathering capability to budget-pressured cities, businesses and armed forces. Â The gimbal system, part of the TASE family, is produced by Goodrich’s ISR Systems team from the Hood River, Ore.-based Cloud Cap Technology, Inc. business that was acquired by Goodrich in May, 2009. The TASE gimbal system consists of a lightweight stabilized camera gimbal, software and a FAA-approved mount for the aircraft. Â The TASE system collects video during flight that can be displayed in real-time in the cockpit, reducing pilot workload, enhancing safety and reducing costs; images are also recorded for future playback. 08 Feb 10. Link Microtek, the manufacturer and supplier of RF and microwave components and subsystems, has expanded its portfolio of LYNX non-ITAR components with a new range of
low-cost 50-ohm coaxial attenuators covering the frequency range DC to 6GHz. LYNX is a new brand resulting from the collaboration of three leading European microwave representative organisations – Elexo of France, Globes Elektronik of Germany and Link Microtek of the UK – and the new attenuators are available throughout Europe from any of the three LYNX partner companies. Apart from the 2W versions, all devices in the range incorporate cooling fins to provide optimum heat dissipation. Particularly suitable for use in communications and radar systems, the LYNX attenuators provide excellent performance, with VSWRs as low as 1.1:1 and a typical operating temperature range of -30 to 65degC. The most popular models are now available from stock, with no minimum order quantities.25 Feb 10. GE Intelligent Platforms announced the bCOM2-L1100 rugged COM Express board. Designed specifically to respond to the growing requirement to deploy powerful computing solutions in harsh, space-constrained environments such as mining, oil and gas, manufacturing, test/measurement, unmanned vehicles, exploration, transportation and military/aerospace, it features an Intel® Core™2 Duo processor operating at up to 2.26GHz and up to 4GBytes of soldered DDR3 SDRAM. Soldered components substantially improve reliability. A range of processors is available, depending on the performance/watt requirements of the application.
