Oxley Group Ltd

Oxley specialises in the design and manufacture of advanced electronic and electro-optic components and systems for air, land and sea applications within the military sector. Established in 1942, Oxley has manufacturing facilities in the UK and USA and enjoys representation worldwide. The company’s products include night vision and LED lighting, data capture systems and electronic components. Oxley has pioneered the development of night vision compatible lighting. It offers a total package incorporating optical filters, equipment modification, cockpit and external lighting along with fleet wide upgrade services including engineering, installation, support, maintenance and training. The company’s long experience of manufacturing night vision lighting and LED indicators, coupled with advances in LED technology, has enabled it to develop LED solutions to replace incandescent and fluorescent lighting in existing applications as well as becoming the lighting option of choice in new applications such as portable military hospitals, UAV control stations and communication shelters.

17 Nov 09. Oxley has introduced a new series of bipolar LEDs to its extensive range of LED incandescent bulb replacements. Designed to replace standard BA9 and E10 incandescent bulbs in push button switches and panel instrumentation the ELEDs are suitable for use in rail, power and oil and gas applications. The new ELEDS have a unique multi-voltage operating range from 12 vdc/vac to 60 vdc/vac ensuring bipolarity, thermal management and increased mean time between failure of 100,000 hours. They utilise the latest in LED technology to achieve the required levels of illumination. The LED is machined to create a flat top that ensures ‘true and even’ behind bezel illumination and eliminates the hot spot often associated with earlier, more directional LEDs. Oxley LED Business Manager David Howell says: “The benefit of using an Oxley warm white ELED is that the colour mimics that of an incandescent bulb and successfully filters through all colours of push button switches including the more problematic yellows and reds.” Fully tested and qualified the ELEDs are available now in white and warm white with green, blue, yellow and AlGaAs red variants to follow shortly.

09 Nov 09. FLIR Systems, Inc.’s ThermoSight Advanced Thermal Weapon SightTM (ATWS) has finished qualification and is now transitioning into production. Qualification testing included boresight retention after live-fire shock testing to more than 5000 rounds for an M4 rifle and M855 rounds, as well as mil-spec temperature and vibration testing and submersion in seawater to a depth of 66 feet for two hours. Live-fire testing at several ranges demonstrates the ATWS is accurate to within one minute of angle when used in conjunction with FLIR marketing and distribution partner Trijicons Advanced Combat Optical GunsightTM (ACOG). Initial prototype and demonstration units manufactured by FLIR in its Portland, Oregon facility are being delivered to Trijicon this month, while low-rate initial production units will be shipped by the end of the year. “The successful completion of qualification testing for the ThermoSight ATWS demonstrates the unprecedented accuracy and robustness of this vital component,” said Bill Sundermeier, President of FLIR Systems government systems division. 3We look forward to working closely with our partner Trijicon to deliver this new product to U.S. and allied armed forces to meet urgent operational needs.2 The ThermoSight ATWS was developed by leveraging FLIR’s expertise in infrared imaging systems and sighting sensors and Trijicon’s expertise in weapon sights, and is the only commercially available military qualified system with demonstrated high resolution performance. It is specifically designed to integrate with Triji
